Some fantastic photos there, brings back a lot of memories for an old retired tanker driver. Thank you so much for posting all these photos, your uploads are just first class. Kind regards, Johnny
As an Old"" Skool..""lorry driver(Still am)I spent 7 months on traction with a well equipped tanker between Bridgewater...Rotterdam...Antwerp...Carrying Orange Juice ...Wonderful...I thought I was on holiday.....Tanker work is Class......
That was very enjoyable Chris, cracking video of some old classic British trucks. Something that never took off in Australia was the typically British thing of the company name on a raised roof above the windscreen. British trucks in Australia never had that, only one that had it was "Globetrotter" (on the Volvo's I think) as it was imported like that. Love the Saviem at 7:08 in the era where they used the MAN cabs. Scotland built a truck too I think, was it a Seddon (12:18 mark) with the thistle emblem?
Hi,at 13:42 you can just see part of losers nucoline they also ran out Greenock before it became van den Berghs Jürgen it was British oil cake mills, the raw palm kernals were stored in a old bus depot at port Glasgow road in Greenock the main contractor was Smith of Madison but occasionally they would use local haulage companies like McIntyres Rapid Road, my late father worked for both of them, regards again keep on trucking ❤️🏴🇬🇧
Another fantastic video! The Butler’s Marathon looked a bit grim on the back of that trailer. I hope the driver was ok .Not a job I would have fancied recovering that , especially if a work mate had come to grief in it !
I found an abandoned Leyland Marathon-2 bogie drive in the bush at Tottenham in western NSW, fellow bought it at a clearance auction and never picked it up. I done a video of it on my You Tube page.
@ 5.23 Smith & Robinson of Rothwell,Leeds had I think 3 Volvo bonetted units, one was TUA666R as far as I know still in existence. Last came across it about 2010.
Ex Tate and Lyle tanker driver. The transport is contracted to Turners now. All in Turners livery. Great days but glad I’m out. Turners is a terrible company to work for.
Like fearn tanker with the man diesel cheers Chris another classic video and soundtrack 👍👌🇬🇧
Thank you Mark 😊 🙏

Times have changed a lot now my friend not always for the better
Absolutely right. It's more about cost than quality in some cases. Anyway great video really enjoyed it. Many thanks.
