I need some advice from more experienced ant keepers please. I would truly be so very grateful if anyone could tell me if there was a way of recollecting a colony that has escaped or if it's even possible? We had 5 queens with a few having a decent amount of brood that quickly matured, growing the colony to where I ended up moving them from their tube to an out world type set up. Long story sort of short, they escaped and I am pretty sure they are living in my flooring somewhere. They have an entrance right at the base of my walls where they come in and out of where I haven't had issues with any other ants from the wild. So I am pretty sure they are ours. My daughter got really into ant keeping and we convinced my husband that we would be responsible and not allow them to get loose in the house.lol well, the cotton that we used to temporarily cover the tube connection hole has failed as they went right thru it and made a perfect round tunnel thru it. Pretty cool. But now I am freaking out. Idk what to do or if anything can even be done. Ugh.
That also happens to me with my pharoah ants colony one time, cottons can't really last that long. Luckily only small portion of workers escaped when i experienced the thing. From that time im always checking the cotton and replace it when needed. Im sorry but I can't help you, cause ive never experienced a whole colony escape. But maybe you can wait them to migrate to a new place, also a friend tells me back then that he recovered his escape colony on his room that hides under the tiles by offering a basin with soil with a perfect living condition with their species. I remember It takes weeks before his colony transfer to the said basin. I hope it can help you whenever you decided to try. Good luck buddy 🙏
Hello! If your ant colony escapes and you think that they are in your home still leave out jelly cups which will get workers and when the workers return to the brood and queen follow her and then once you locate the nest and queen scoop up the brood and queen and workers and prompt them using a paint brush. This should work but if it doesn't you should make a very humid ant enclosure and leave it open. Also leave a cockroach in the ant enclosure (cut up ) to tempt the queen and colony into the nest and shut the nest and take them to their enclosure and find escapees using the jelly cup trick.
the other thing you can do but may not work is place at entrance a dark wet warm container with entrance near there nest entrance and leave if its a nice place they will move into that dark warm wet container and you have your colony back
Ok also sorry for being late. I am a pretty experienced and don’t worry bc it happen with my ant colony idk what type but it happened. Try feeding them maybe you can lure the queen out or if you can shine light and wait for a while but idk my ant colony in my house escaped into the yard so yea.
Its pretty clear you are not supposed to make the lock holes in the red acrylic😂😂. You were supposed to put them on instead of the normal acrylic but i do agree that this would be easier.

Im up with the challenge but, we don't have bullet ant here in the Philippines, we do have diacamma rugosum which looks like a bullet ant, but more aggressive i think, but they are queenless, and im not keeping ant which is gamergate base. cause i dont like collecting wild colonies which is already established. I always start in nuptial flights. 🙂

Its really expensive if you let AliExpress deliver it to you, in my case i use buyandship app, you can search for it if its available in your country buddies. That will save you a lot, i promise.
