The name "bubble tea" originally means the tea is shaken in a shaker to create a foamy texture similar to a cocktail. The most common way to call tapioca balls in Taiwan is "pearls". "boba" is a Hongkong slang for big breasts. As the slang came to Taiwan, a bubble tea shop owner in Tainan named his pearl milk tea "boba milk tea". Nowadays when we order "boba" in Taiwan, we expect to see tapioca balls larger in size.

Wow perfect choice of music. Thank you for sharing your good mood.
Very interesting facts about the origins of Bubble Tea. In Germany we had a short hype in 2012. Then a kind of defamation was spreaded in the same year, so almost every bubble tea store closed. The last two years theres a comeback of Bubble Tea like a renaissance.

Taichung store is the OG. Glad you were able to visit. Enjoyed all the info in the video. Taiwan’s high mountain oolong tea is wonderful. When back in Taipei, try to make it to the Maokong (Zoo) gondola… not sure if there is a MRT stop. Take the gondola and have lunch by one of the tea plantations at the top of the gondola. Also try to make it Jiufen for great views of the ocean and street food.

We live in Tainan Taiwan and some of us in the South belive there is another origin story for Boba Tea. Ever heard of the Hanlin Tea Room?
what is fore certain, the Taiwanese government has ruled that no one can patent Boba Tea because anyone can make and/or store it.
Cute vid, we do like the smaller size of their boba at Chun's. Did you check out the upstairs at all?

If they keep diminishing in size you may as well just do shorts.
    Ps I hate shorts 🤪🤪
