    This was actually a more accurate cleaning/disinfecting process than I’ve seen most nail techs too. I graduated cosmetology school then realized I actually enjoy doing nails more than anything (cos school is 90% hair, so essentially everything I know about nails is self taught), starting my nail tech job at a salon tomorrow & I wanted a refresher on how to thoroughly clean my tools. The video I watched before this, the girl literally just ran them under water (NO SOAP OR SCRUBBING😬) then tossed them in barbicide… she was *in nail school* doing this too. Anyway, great video & thanks for the refresher!

      Oh my!!! Good to know! 🫣👀😩
      I definitely had to do my research about how to properly disinfect and clean my tools. But I’m surprised it’s not more widely taught to nail techs! Sanitation is 💯% important!
      Congrats on your new job as a nail tech in a salon!! That must be exciting! 🙌
      I also really want to go to nail school!! I’m trying to find one locally that only teaches about nails because I don’t want to learn about hair! 🙅‍♀️💇🏻‍♀️ LOL 😂

      @@CaroleAnnette thank you!!! I want to go to nail tech school too, bc since starting nails, I’ve come to learn the rabbit hole of nail technology goes DEEP!!! But I also figured since I already have my cos license, why wait & waste my time hating life at a minimum wage job I know I don’t want to be at when I have enough skills to get started on my career now? So at some point I’ll definitely go back & hone my craft!!!
      Good luck with your nail tech journey as well! 🫶🏽 And try to pick a *reputable* school since (as we can tell from my first comment) clearly not every establishment is professional. 😮‍💨😭

    To be honest I never even thought to disinfect my nail tools since I only use them on myself. This will definitely be something I look into start doing. I most definitely do not want an infection at all

    Thank you for this! More people need to clean and sanitizer their tools, even when you only use it on yourself!

      I treat them the same way. This jar was full, so right after I filmed this, I cleaned those too.

    Literally never cleaned my tools before, other than a quick alcohol wipe 😬…. Until I got an infection! Whoops. I won’t be making that mistake again. Thanks for the demonstration ❤

    This is such an important part of the beauty industry and self care in general. Sadly often overlooked but vital in safety especially in light of the global situation. It's so easy to be enticed by all the pretty colours and glitter ie. the fun part of nails. I also use an ultrasonic jewelery cleaner.

      🧐 good point! I dust my tools off before putting them in the sleeves again; but looks like I may need to soak those in the soapy water to be extra sure

    Great, informative video, thank you for this. I just got a UV-C box and sterilized all my nail tools. But like a dummy that I can be, totally forgot to wash them first! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂😂
    If you know more about the UV-C sterilization method, I’d love to hear more about it, as I don’t know much about it lol

    • @CaroleAnnette
      @CaroleAnnette  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I definitely clean them the same way. Some bits may request extra attention when you’re scrubbing them, because they have such tiny grooves, and nail dust gets stuck in between them. I use something like tweezers to dig the dust out.

      I would clean my brushes the same way, but I haven’t been able to get rid of the color staining …. So I actually toss mine 😱😅 (except the super pretty ones, which I rarely use - those I spray with rubbing alcohol)

    Can you pour the barbacide down the drain when you're done? Or is it similar to acetone disposal that needs to evaporate instead?

      I toss mine after they look too stained, but in between that, I scrub them in hot soapy water. They can also be added to the Barbicide (I just ran out of space for this video and couldn’t include my brushes and drill bits)

    how would you clean non-glass files? I spray them with disinfectant and let air dry, They're just for myself and I don't want to toss after one use. Do you think that is safe?

    • @CaroleAnnette
      @CaroleAnnette  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would use the scrub brush and scrub them in soapy water as well. They do sell washable hand files 🥰

    • @CaroleAnnette
      @CaroleAnnette  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think this video is a great demo for sanitizing and disinfection.
      There’s usually 3 processes you can follow: Sanitation, Disinfection, Sterlization.
      You may want to look into sterilization techniques, as that takes it a step further past disinfection. You’ll have to buy an autoclave device to be able to properly sterilize them, which will kill off infective organisms.

  • @adairisocanas863

    How many times can u use the barbacide liquid after using it once already?

    • @CaroleAnnette
      @CaroleAnnette  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@adairisocanas863 it needs to be changed 1x a day (so every 24 hours after mixing the solution).
      The Barbicide shouldn’t get contaminated if you properly scrub all your tools with hot soapy water prior to putting them in the barbicide. If you skip the scrubbing step; then you should change your Barbicide after each use.

      I clean and sanitize my sink often, and that sink is only used for this and washing my hands after doing my nails. 🥰
