    Nice, just destroyed my key following these instructions (at part that starts 00:35). Saw later that there are two little slots, into which a small flat screwdriver can be inserted to easily open the battery cover.

    The second release should not be done by inserting that philips into the key like that. Instead there's a slit in the bottom to fit a flat head. That one takes almost no force, where's that philips push for me cracked the case a tiny bit (and didn't get it open at all). Instead of inserting the philips, look in that same side an you will see 3 flat slits, use the middle one

      After seeing his method I thought, that can't be the right way, I saw a small slot "about 3-4mm which would fit a tiny flat head screwdriver and it opened up with ease, but some people don't think things through very well and will end up trying this dodgy method and break something!

    This is the 2nd time in 12 1/2 years owning my 2010 Mazda3 that I've changed out the batteries in both fobs. They sure could have made it much easier to replace a battery. You need the tiniest of screwdrivers to pop the tab, and it's awkward to pry apart the base of the fob. It's tricky to get the metal crosspiece back in place before snapping the pieces together. Mazda could've designed this a lot better.

    Once the switchblade key is released, there's a notch near the front with a triangular arrow pointing to it to *gently* pry on to release the backing.
    I think what trips some people up is that the backing is much wider than the actual working circuit board portion.
    But anyways, a small flat head in that notch. A little lever action, then pulling the rest with your hands is better than the "technique" shown in the video.

    • @nataliaa.c.9567
      @nataliaa.c.9567 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    After the first click don't insert the Philips and yank it like this in the video.
    You will break something. There are three small notches - just gently push the middle one with a fpat screw driver and Bob's your uncle.

    Thanks for sharing, although like Anna Gomez first part was helpful, second part unfortunately was not. It needed a flat blade screw driver to fit into a slot provided at the centre of the hob, and gently twist the screw driver, allowing proper separation of the two halves. you would have easily stab yourself had the screwdriver slipped. Always keep safety in mind and hope I haven't offended you in any way.
