Thank you so much for posting this! Someone close to me just arrived at Lackland for their first day, and this video has been very comforting to watch while writing my first letter. I look forward to seeing them on your video!!
I started USAF BMT on November 10, 1972...graduated December 27, 1972...3702 BMTS...Flight 1474. The main challenge was not to get "set back"...is what they called back then. There was yelling, some profanity...no screaming. No one wanted to get "set back" since our basic training was just 6 weeks long...back then the MTI's (drill instructors) ..would threaten you to nth degree that they would "set you back" so far..."you would see grandmother born". Nobody but nobody... wanted to get set back...on a six weeks program. The mental pressure was there...with excruciating attention to detail. PT wasn't too challenging...but 85 % of my flight ( platoon ) could have completed USMC bootcamp. It's all good. Retired USAF flat belly MSgt...24 years.
As someone who is in the process of joining, im nervous that my studdering will get in the way of saying commands. But i will work hard to go through it.
24 years later, I see the place and can still remember the smell. It's not a bad smell, just unique.
I also went through BMT around the same time, May 2000.
@rgx420s I went through February-May
It's a combination of body odor and dial antibacterial soap!

Why is there no yelling? Lol
Cameras on
I was FLT 622 here, there was plenty of yelling, just not when the cameras were out or officers were around.
I leave on Monday (10/21) pretty excited to get this all started
What is this, summer camp?? No more yelling? Jeezus. This is why the other branches make fun of us! 😞
there was plenty of yelling just not when the cameras are on..
they didn't with cameras, I just graduated.
USAF Vet '91. This current training is soft like my pillow.
This is the most relaxed boot camp video I've seen before.
I graduated a few years back. And I have to admit with the changes, this has been cringy to watch
What changed
The AF has gone soft. Pitiful to watch
How so?
