  • Joe Mauer is trending towards being just the 20th hall of fame catcher in MLB history! This is a bit of a surprise for some, but as the votes continue to pour in for Mauer, it only makes me think of one man... BUSTER POSEY. Because at the end of the day, he and Mauer share some very interesting similarities! But I think Posey's numbers actually line up more with another catcher who ISN'T in the Hall of Fame, but probably should be...Thurman Munson! So is Buster Posey a Hall of Famer??
In this video we unpack Buster Posey's excellent career from several different angles, including a few very interesting tid bits, before seeing how Posey compares to both Joe Mauer and Thurman Munson. We go through traditional stats, analytics, awards, and more for each of them! ... But when the dust settles, which side of the question will we land on???
Do you think Buster Posey is bound for Cooperstown? Should Thurman Munson also be in? Let me know in the comments!
Be sure to SUBSCRIBE if you haven't! I appreciate you all! Cheers!

Is this even an argument? If Buster is not an HOF’er then what is? Would Pudge or Mike have those huge numbers without PED’s? The Hall of Fame needs to smarten up. How about if you can’t tell the story of baseball without including that person‘s name they should be in the Hall of Fame.

Right. Pudge and piazza but no bonds. Makes no sense at all. Popularity and not causing waves is what gets u in the hall

The writers have shown that they don’t care about PEDs as long as it’s their favorite guy. David Ortiz is one of the worst first ballot guys and did steroids but others aren’t allowed

@@mikeytrainor3562 Yeah, its dumb as hell. Selig also in is diabolical. But, Posey being such a golden boy for us in SF + his off the field foundations/actions may help him out. When you say Buster Posey, often the media is like "we love him", as they should, and if thats what it takes for him to be in, then so be it. He needs to be in there one way or the other. Bernie Williams shouldve been too and too many others.

Cool video. I really like your clips and editing. Good luck with the channel dude. Munson being excluded this long is criminal imo. His numbers and accolades are insanely similar to Busters. I guess voters back then saw Bench and Fisk as the greats of the era and overlooked Munson. Munson was also the second player named captain in Yankees history. An honor that was bestowed to Lou Gehrig and had not been given to another player before Munson.

Buster 100% hof. And Munson should be as well. Spoken by a Dodgers fan. Great video btw.

I totally get why Munson didn't get voted in. Atleast I think I do. They probably figured, "if only he'd gotten the extra 4/5years" but he didn't he passed away. So while I do get it, especially since counting stats were everything. But back then story was important too as well as being a winner. Thurman won and you can bet it would have been a nice heartfelt story to vote him in after his passing. All three should be in. I'll say this in every "should they/shouldn't they" HOF video. Barry Bonds, Pete Rose, and even Roger Clemens are three names that should probably be rushed in before anyone else ever gets voted in again 😅

Dammit Machado. Why did he have to slide and destroy Pedroia's knee? Then there would be 3 guys with 3 rings, and MVP, and a ROY

      Cause Machado is a loser.

At this point with the votes counted for the hall at 49.2 percent as of yesterday, Mauer has 83.1 percent, which means he has a strong chance of getting in, if gets in on the first ballot, then Buster will certainly get inducted most likely first ballot as well.

i need to preface this with saying im a giants fan so im definitely biased for buster. but he is going to get in. i see the argument all the time for people being in the "hall of damn good" particularly munson, mattingly, will clark, guys like that. if buster had 2000 hits i dont even think it would be a discussion. another 5 years of play it would be a shoe-in. but he didnt, and joe mauer is going to get in which should absolutely pave the way for buster.

    • @kenw2225

Posey is far superior to Mauer. Both were deserving. 3 rings as a catcher should be automatic hall entry.

I mean if you had to choose one over the other I would say Buster over Mauer, the stats are stats, but Posey's success equating to the Giants success means that he was more valuable to his team throughout his career. I think that also should matter. I do think Mauer should be in as well, this is hypothetical. I also believe the Hall should be for telling the story of baseball so i think there should be a wing for guys who played the game the right way. After all, thats how we want kids to play, so people who represent that should be on display

The catching position is like being in a blender 24/7 not only does it break your body down it also generally doesn't lead to good offense. Molina is a freak who's defense is impeccable that being said all three of the catchers in this video belong in the hall. If not for injuries or an early demise all three would probably be close to 2,500 hits and then some put them in

Thurman Munson, will finally get the HOF election in December, it should have happened over 40 years ago.

was this video necessary? I am not trying to be rude, I am just genuinely curious if there was anyone out there who thought Mauer was better than Posey.
Posey will definitely get in, especially if Mauer gets in first-ballot, and Thurman Munson should have been in a long time ago.

Posey is Hall of Very Good

Even though posey is a 3 time champion and mvp in 2012. Which help his case. 1500 hits with less than 200 homers not hall of fame worthy. Even for catchers which is a brutal position third numbers are not hall worthy. Bench yogi, piazza, Fisk are have better offense numbers,. War is a flaw stat which you are using to help posey hall case. How do you calculate war?
