  • The Barents Sea - nicknamed the Devil's Dancefloor - is a stretch of ocean between Northern Norway and Svalbard, deep within the Arctic Circle. Notorious for strong winds, rough seas, and endless fog banks, it is a challenging passage but one that I am proud to bare now completed twice, alone.

Great video, I can't imagine what living up there is like but it seems to be a farily big town. Looking forward to the next video :)

I sailed around the world for 6 years, from Norway solo. You have my deepest respect for this solo sail to Svalbard.

Wow. I retired from the military in 1996. After reading the book Alone against the Atlantic years earlier this was my plan, with a nice pension finances would be easier. UNFORTUNATELY a finance firm talked me into going to work for them. Retired on a Friday and went to work on the following Monday. Young people, Chase your dreams not bucks. I deeply regret not taking a year off Great video

Enjoyed this video very much. Glimpse into your daily living, music that's keeping you company, and the straightening up of the cabin a very nice personal touch. Thank you for sharing!

@@davidmccann8752 I hadn’t slept the night before leaving due to rough conditions in port at Longyearbyen - I was debating heading out to anchor in the middle of the night when a friend came to the rescue with some XL fenders for me. So I started the trip not as well rested as I would’ve liked! But managed to get back into the swing of it underway.

Nicely done, handling the weather well as was the boat. I bet you are so glad you have a pilot house, great place to keep watch and be safe. What’s the plan next are you headed South? Andy UK

@@AndyUK-Corrival thank you! Yes the pilot house was one of my 4 requirements when searching for the right boat to purchase and I’m so glad I stuck to that requirement!
Yes I’ll be making my way south again, first down the Norwegian coast, and then hopping across to either Shetland or Scotland pending weather windows

Did you speak to Roger Taylor of MingMing fame before you contemplated the Barents Sea? Bill
