I found it! I've been looking for this version for at least ten years! I had this version on a boot tape years ago and then the tape went wonky...I love this version as much as I love the album version. Thanks so much for posting it! 😁
I never knew there was a different version! My favorite song by him, hands down! This version is a little more upbeat. Thanks for the upload -- sounds great!
@@irish-matti7059 I agree as well and think the upbeat feel comes from the funky guitar licks; the vocals are a bit more hurried/crammed, lyrics-wise, and less world-weary to me. Is there a different group on backing vocals? This version still gets over with the words and mood, but in my opinion the album version is more heartfelt, real, and successful. Thank you for posting this! Always worth listening to early songs from Jackson Browne.
@@angryduane6696 David Crosby was the only backing singer besides Jackson himself on the album. I think this is still them on this version, but maybe they ovedubbed more parts here.
The local radio station I worked for played the 45 version. Once we got the album, I would flip-flop between playing the single version and the album version, depending on my mood.

I agree with everything you said, except I'm not sure it's more 'upbeat'. Yes, it is great.

Yeah, we do. Kick it
Does anyone know why this version is not on CD?? Thank you for uploading it.
Just guessing; crappy record company.
My biggest complaint with this version is that the congas are intrusive and don't really fit.
Stop, all your sobbing! No one is shoving it down your bloody throat.
@@tmichael80 THAT angers you? Wow. Sucks to be you.
