A FEB lutou bravamente sem experiência em um terreno desconhecido e ainda assim se não fosse os soldados brasileiros talvez nem tivessem recuperado a Itália e o único país grato ao Brasil até hoje é a Itália
Em Fornovo, a FEB aprisionou 14.779 alemães, entre oficiais, suboficiais e praças. Durante toda a campanha da Itália, nenhum outro exército aliado aprisionou tantos inimigos numa única batalha.
A Itália não foi "recuperada", ela nunca esteve perdida. E o Brasil apenas combateu em pequenas cidades e vilas, nada mais. Porém, elas são gratas pelos brasileiros terem expulsado DELAS os alemães.

Para você ver alfie, o desprezo que existe pelo país, existem até próprios Brasileiros que não sabiam que o Brasil lutou na 2 guerra mundial... Eu só fico triste por esse desprezo que temos, o Brasil é tão incrível, mas as pessoas só olham para o superficial, favelas, crimes, corrupção... Poxa se olharem bem, vêem que o Brasil, alimenta cerca de 1 bilhão de pessoas, tem as maiores belezas naturais desse mundo! inclusive a maior cidade da América! Eu tenho fotos de antepassados meus aqui da Paraíba, indo para Garanhuns-PE, para de lá se juntar ao Exército Brasileiro, infelizmente ele morreu na guerra e nunca recebemos seu corpo. Até porque não era viável... :'(

"A cobra vai fumar", é uma expressão antiga que algumas pessoas ainda usam quando "a coisa vai ficar feia"...😂
The A in some abbreviations is to define the gender in the word, as "Guerra" (War) is a female word, "Segunda" which precedes will also be a feminine word (2ª Guerra - Second War), if it were a male word we would have an O beside it and we would read "Segundo".
Example: Senhora - Srª (Lady), Senhor - Srº (Sir), Primeiro - 1º (First), Primeira - 1ª (First too, but feminine).

Nem mesmo o BF5 que é sobre a 2 guerra mundial, que tem vários conflitos pequenos registrados, não mostra o conflito na Itália com os brasileiros.
@Thii Infinity Verdade, eles mostraram até a guerra em territórios africanos com um período bem curto, e mesmo o Brasil ficando mais ou menos 1 ano em guerra contra os alemães na Itália, não são reconhecidos.

thanks Alfie I'm happy that you know even though it's little publicized about Brazil's role in the second war, there are stories of heroism of 3 Brazilian soldiers who fought against 1,000 Germans
they were only buried with recognition from the Germans who thought they fought demons, and that their sister has a beautiful baby.
The three soldier was defending their position against the German troop, killed many of them, but then ran out of ammo and granades, and decided to charge against the army and died. When the German soldiers saw that was only three Brazilian that killed so many from their troop, the army buried their corpses with honor, and their crosses was found later by the Brazilian army.
This story was also told in the music Smoking Snakes, by the group Sabaton.

Alfie, the US soldiers were so uninformed about Brazil that the instructors that trained the FEB there spoke Spanish to them. It was ridiculous... There's a docummentary called "Navalha, Um Batalhão Brasileiro Na Linha Gótica" about the participation of Brazil in WW2 from the brazilian "History Channel", if you wanna check it out.

My great uncle fighted in Monte Castello, Italy. When I was a kid he always received a lot of invitations from the government and local media to share his experiences and teach school kids about the WWII. He died at 97 years old in 2021 and he was a great example for me! This is quite an experience to remember the war and his memoirs from that time.
Such a great video to react is also an audio documentary from BBC that covers the original recordings from the troops and it has also the moment when brazilian soldiers sung the national anthem at the Pisa cathedral. This is amazing.

In order to fill some of the details into this history:
The 25.000 strong that was sent to Italy was the 1ST Division of the Brazilian Army.
The 2 ND Division, the same size as the 1 ST. was to be sent to the Pacific Theater yo support the US Army and the US Marines on their confronts against the Japanese forces in that area.

What I like the most about this part of history, is how the expression "quando a cobra fumar" (when snakes starting smoking) changed completely of meaning after the 2nd Great War. Before it had a meaning like "when pigs flys" (never happening), but after the war, it has a meaning of "getting serious", "you are going to have troubles", and stuff. If some brazilian now says "a cobra vai fumar" (the snake will smoke), it means some damn serious thing is about to happen LMAO usually when it's about to start some fight.

I only know becouse my eldest brother is specialised in this subject and has written a book called TORPEDO - TERROR IN THE ATLANTIC that has as its central theme the torpedoing of Brazilian ships during World War II, which was undoubtedly the most tragic period in our Maritime History.

World War II, is called in Portuguese literal translation: The second world war, A Segunda Guerra Mundial. In English, you guys would short it as 2nd WW. For us is 2ª Guerra Mundial.
We can use Segundo(2º) or Segunda(2ª) based on the gender of the word. The word War which is Guerra in Portuguese is a female gender word so we use the "a" termination.
Curiosity: Guerra comes from the Norman/Frankish "werre/werra" that comes from proto-germanic "werz-a" which means discord, discórdia in Portuguese.
From "werra" as common in Romance languages, the "W" becomes "G" or "GU" so "werra" becomes "guerra". In English werra or werre, were simplified into war!
