In this guitar tutorial, we'll be delving into Eric Clapton's rendition of "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" from his iconic Unplugged album. Originally written by Jimmy Cox in 1923, "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" has been covered by numerous artists over the years. However, it was Clapton's version that brought the song to a new generation of listeners and became a hit in its own right.
Interestingly, the song was inspired by Cox's personal experiences during the Great Depression. In the lyrics, the protagonist laments the loss of his wealth and social status, and the fact that people who were once his friends no longer have time for him.
As I teach you how to play both the studio and easy strummed versions of the song, we'll also be sharing some tips on how to master unique percussive slap-flick fingerpicking. I'll also teach you the solo! So, whether you're a fan of Clapton or just looking to expand your guitar skills, this tutorial is not to be missed!
