Another really nice quality paper that is a step up from pulp is Baohong Acedemy or Artist grade 100% cotton paper that comes in both cold and hot press, in pads and journal sketchbooks ans is 300gsm/140 lbs. I absolutely love this paper. It gives you time to work, doesn't buckle, wet on wet works well on this paper as well as glazing.
Thanks so much! It's so important to embrace play as you learn and be open to things that may not be considered the "right" way. You never know what it might lead to.
I love Daniel Smith and have a Mijello palette for 38 colors, and buy the 15ml tubes. I just paint my stamped images, and do some fun color stuff in my art journals. I've enjoyed seeing the supplies you like. Thank you for sharing!
In Sweden it's cold moste of the time, so I guess I should buy a studio hairdryer for removing tape 😂 Thanks for the tip and a great video! Makes me want to grab those watercolor supplies and get going 🎉
You are very welcome. I became absolutely smitten with Daniel Smith once I started using them. It's been a long-time love affair! Such lovely unique colours.
Thank you, I actually got them when I had a piece of furniture delivered. They were part of the packaging. You could get something similar at a hardware store.
Thank you Laura, good information. Another affordable, quality watercolor in the US or perhaps people in 🇨🇦is DaVinci from CA. They have nice big tubes at good prices for beginners to freely practice 💕🙂🖌️
Thank you. Yes, I do enjoy them. I almost put them in this video but decided to stick with paints that feel a little more watercolour like, I find the Japanese watercolours more gouache-like. Still love using them though. I just use them a bit differently.
That's a great tip, I certainly saw improvement when I stepped up to Princeton Nepture and VelvetTouch brushes from just basic art brushes. Makes it so much easier to get lovely washes, long lines, precise details, and so on. Thanks for watching!

I haven't tried that paper, but I have heard really good things - I am going to see if I can get some. Thanks for the tip!

Excellent video, thank you! Where did you get your white wooden art protector mat?
Thank you, I actually got them when I had a piece of furniture delivered. They were part of the packaging. You could get something similar at a hardware store.
I use arches paper too and it's my favourite! never been able to find those sketchbooks though 😮
Arches paper is special! You can get the sketchbooks on Amazon and also at Art to Art, which is an Australian store. I think they ship worldwide.
Great video, thanks for the tips. I need to purchase some better quality brushes, need to give the Princeton ones a try! I love your top by the way :)
The Princeton ones are a favourite among many artists, I adore them! Thank you 😊

Great video. I have recently purchased a set of Gansai Tambi Japanese watercolour and am really enjoying using them. Have you tried them? ❤

If I went back in time to start again, I’dd buy ONE or TWO good brushes rather than 10 cheap ones❤

You look like a doll ☺️
Thank you. I'm not sure anyone has ever said that to me before, I'll take it as a compliment 😊
