    I didn't know that you're supposed to put on eye cream before moisturizer! I always thought it was the last step 😱😅

    • @goJesusandStarcraft
      @goJesusandStarcraft 6 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      to my understanding, moisturizers usually have dimethicone which is the active ingredient that forms a barrier over the skin to lock in moisture. with this intuition, I think that products applied after moisturizer don't get absorbed as much.
      (I could be wrong tho)

    • @XIIxMysticxIIX
      @XIIxMysticxIIX 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      goJesusandStarcraft yes, most moisturizers (creams and such) have occlusives and should be used at the very end to lock in hydration.

    Hope you do include your mom's opinion in more videos, in the future. :-)

    Firstly, thanks Joan for sharing!!
    But I personally am not too sure about the Innisfree orchid eye cream. I've used four bottles of it but I personally did not see any improvement in brightening my under eyes (ps. the sales assistant said that this product helps the under eye in brightening and lightening dark circles). For me, I liked the Skin food's Salmon Brightening eye cream, its not as thick as compared to Innisfree's (I lived in a really humid country hence would prefer something not too thick) and it really did brighten my under eyes area. I've also notice that my concealer goes on flawlessly when I am using the Skin food eye cream underneath it. All in all, I still feel that all these are personal opinion and also due to individual's skin condition. But I really liked the Skin food's one and I wanted to share with you guys!!! c:

    Just want to share a quick tip, another reason to put eye cream before other products is so that in case you use any exfoliating actives, you don't want those getting near your eyes, so eye cream acts as a barrier.

    I just purchased the Benton fermentation eye cream a couple weeks ago. I'm wary of rich eye creams because they can cause milia on me, but the Benton cream absorbs nicely and moisturizes well without being greasy and hasn't caused milia. I love the tube packaging as well since it's more hygienic and protects the beneficial ingredients better since it's not repeatedly being exposed to air. I was happy to see it was your and your mom's second pick. :)

    as an old lady who tried every single eye cream out there, there is none. it doesn't prevent wrinkles..... sleep, hydration, and not rubbing or tugging the eye area and wear sunglasses. i put a tiny bit of argan oil in the area to keep it from getting dry and it looks good under makeup because concealer can make it look dry and crease. don't spend money on eye creams, it's a scam in the beauty industry.

      But invested in skincare products. She is 80 now, but people think she looks 50. (Or it depends on genetics, because my mom is in her 50s but she looks like she is in her late 30s.)

      @@warmtoiletseat7362 a huge part depends on genetics, the other part on lifestyle. You could mistreat your body and still look not bad, you could live the healthiest way possible and still look worn down. That doesn't mean taking good care of yourself inside and out is useless, it can certainly make a difference. 🙂

    you should paula's choice article on eye creams. Interestingly you don't really need a separate eyecream for your eye area as you can use a good moisturiser with all the good things like vitamin c and stuff. I know a lot of people say eye area is sensitive and thin but that doest mean anything actually. the exception however for getting an eye cream would be dry skin, if you have dry skin then you might need a eye cream as too much of moisture is not needed.

    I have literally been looking for an informative video on just eye creams and this one has done it for me. I've almost hit 20 and feel that college has been stressing my eyes and I really wanted an eye cream and didn't know where to begin. I am currently using the Belif eye cream and it's very moisturizing, but I want that brightening effect in conjunction. I haven't tried any other cream honestly. I'm so new to skin care, but I'm loving Korean beauty products. I see a difference compared to American brands. I also recommend cocobutter! I know that this post was MONTHS ago, but I loved it.
    My current eye cream is simply not cutting it, so I've been wanting to explore others, but have been a bit apprehensive about it.
    I don't know if you'll see this or not, but I wanted to ask your opinion on if you think the Innisfree Green Tea eye cream would be a better choice for oily skin? (Obviously, talking about myself here.) Or if you would stick with the Orchid simply for the fact that your eye skin, as you mentioned, does not have pores and so you are not producing oil and naturally moisturizing this area?
    Hopefully, you get this!
    Thank you so much for all of your fun and interesting posts! I am a newly minted TH-cam lover, so I have a LOT to catch up on.

      Hi, I find that more liquid-y sunscreens, usually Japanese ones, that you need to shake before using, tend to have matte finish. Some recommendations would be Shiseido and Kanebo Impress IC. If you opt for Korean, I'm using Missha right now, it is more moisturizing than those two I mentioned, but won't make you greasy like the ones that come in cream form. Hope this helps :)
      P.S. I have dry skin, but I don't like greasy sunscreens.

    I love innisfree products but I'm always skeptical because I believe I'm biased but since you've compared it to so many other eye creams, I'm convinced their products are really high quality.
    I have their orchid line, except for the eyecream, I'm gonna be buying that next! Thanks!

    This is a great review, and especially as it has both you and your mom's reviews. I would like to give it a try, the Innisfree one. I am actually 38, and quite late in using skincare products, just started 3-4 years ago when wrinkles have started appearing. Been trying a few brands before like Laneige, YSL, and the Sulwhasoo one featured in your video...Now I am happy with my Sulwhasoo, but different one, I am using the ginseng renewing eye cream and it works quite effectively for me in reducing the wrinkles (or minimizing the appearance).

      Bo Ra it's better to use gel type for oily and combination skin. Cream type provides high moisture so it's only suitable for dry skin. Cream type of products also is suitable to be use in cold and dry weather

    hi joan, which one do you think is the best for the dark circles?

    • @Keepinitreal55
      @Keepinitreal55 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      honey there's no cream that can make your dark circles go away. Dark circles are created by veins underneath the skin

    • @Min.sae204
      @Min.sae204 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      keepinitreal it depends on what type of dark circles you have. For some people it is caused by veins under your eyes and you're right, there really isn't much to do about them. But for other people, dark circles are caused by hyper pigmentation. This is especially true for people who have more melanin or those prone to excess melanin production (like some Asian skin types). In that case, vitamin C type creams are great.
