Those engines are over engineered. Iron cast. I've driven mine without coolant several times (by accident). Bulletproof. You can most definitely turbo it without opening engine. Just like 2JZ, you can turbo and push 600hp without having to open engine. But ofc the 4runner cant push that but you get my drift.
The 90s Toyotas we're the best and 2000s.
☝️ very true, I've seen guys run mid 400whp on an unopened 5vz. Factory low compression, great engines

Im in an 03 trd offroad sr5 Tacoma 4x4 5speed manual. I'm supercharged with every mod possible. jba headers, urd rear oxygen sensor simulator. 7th injector piggyback stage 4 competition clutch ( stock clutch started slipping after a few months), k&n air intake w/ cone filter with a custom insulated box to pull only cold air , champion 3 core radiator, a hayden 1040 engine oil cooler built for an f350 diesal. 170 thermastat, flexalite electic fan. I just bought the 2" supercharger pulley (up to 14 psi) from pulleyboys and got a snow stage 2 water methanol injection kit to run to cool air charge. Up to now it is quick up to speed but not fast, but I'm getting bored after about 6 months of driving it... I remote mounted my gm knock sensor near the starter on the block right above the oil pan where there was already a threaded bolt hole. i unplugged the ones in the valley and both connectors are wired together to the new gm sensor. It seems to work well and let me push more timing.

Awesome build. Would you happen to have a dyno graph from when it was supercharged, vs now, with the turbo (at 6 psi)? Curious to see how the powerband compares. Debating whether to supercharge or turbo my 3rd gen.
I've never had it on the dyno. But I can tell you that 6psi on the turbo vs 6psi on the supercharger feels way different. The supercharger is parasitic, it takes power to make power because it's belt driven. I think the only nice thing about the supercharger is that you can install it in a couple hours. I was also able to turbo for less then the cost of a used charger.
Id like to super charge and turbo. Before i do any of that on my own 5vz. I wana get it torn down and put in the forged internals to handle power. Itl b expensive.
@@coryclark9219 it already has forged connecting rods, not sure if the pistons are forged but I know they are very very strong

I would love a video tutorial on how to build this I mean even if you just show the measurements for the part, the custom parts and everything that goes on I would really love it and use it for guidance
I no longer have the vehicle. It's just a matter of buying the pieces and installing them. Only thing custom was the downpipe

Sweet build, do you have a full build list of parts? Also what did you use to make your down pipe?
I don't have a list of parts, but it's just the basics: Turbo, manifolds, oil lines, intercooler/piping, AEM fuel pump etc..
The downpipe I made out of stainless exhaust and V-Bands I bought off Amazon
@@yellowshopbuilds Sounds good. Was there a specific waste gate you used from Emusa or just a universal vband?
Just a 38mm, non v band. If you go into our Mustang playlist, look for the wastegate video. We used the same wastegate on our turbo Mustang

Ditch the CX downpipe, get a flange that matches the turbo flange, cut your exhaust just before the cat and add a V-Band. Then build the downpipe between flanges

@@yellowshopbuilds I have a turbocharged 3.4 2wd Tacoma. It's a rearmount underneath the truck. Only hits about 9si but I'm still running stock ecu stock injectors and stock fuel pump. I use a methonl injection kit to cool it but I'm about to upgrade to a stage 2 or 3 kit. Definitely need to get a tune on it tho. I like ur build man. Awesome turbo sounds.

I heard NA Supra injectors but I'm not sure. I'm still utilizing the original injectors

My 2000 4runner engine made it to 260k. Just ordered a jdm 3.4 5vzfe engine. Got it delivered to the mechanic shop. He calls. Says the oil pan is different and he's not sure if it'll work? Asked if there was a difference between the 2x4 and 4x4. What the heck does that have to do with the engine? Said the oil dipstick is in a different place so wouldn't they just be able to swap my engine's oil pan with the JDM 3.4 5VZFE I just bought? Then something about the exhaust would need changed!?!?! Like I'm freaking out. I dropped 2k on this JDM Engine from FLORIDA and live in OKLAHOMA. I am supposed to meet the mechanic at his shop at 8am in the morning and he's going to show me what he's talking about. I'm again freaking out. Does anyone know if all is good and he's just going to need to use my old engines oil pan and sump pump and he's over reacting.... or even clueless? What the ever loving shit have I gotten myself into. Help my fellow 3.4 yota people!!!!!!!!!
Not sure why it would be different, even on a 2wd. Should be a simple swap
