So, I'm brazilian and just started to watch the video. I never played Ragnarok, but Boitata is a creature from the brazilian folklore, it's basically a serpent made of fire. I know it's not a big deal, I'm just happy to see a brazilian monster depicted in a game, and even more that Jackie is doing a sculpture of it.
It is very scary, imagine a gigantic fire snake that eats eyes. Probably the only scary thing in the Brazilian folklore hahahahah This game has a lot of references to Brazil, it's amazing
It looks really good, but the colors still look kinda flat...maybe some dry brushing or using some chalk pastel might help with adding some depth to the colors? Otherwise, i think it looks great.
Lol "does that mean we can call it polymer clay?" No Jackie, just because you can cook it, doesn't mean it changes it material composition. Although you can call it "bake clay". Either way, that turned out BEAUTIFULLY!
NerdECrafter I reread what I wrote and am so glad you read it as the joke it was. I realized I could have come across as being a pedantic jerk and it wasn't my intention. Haha quotations make all the difference haha.
I'm glad I read the comments before I started this. Now I know it's not technically like a polymer but can be baked. I'm new subscribed here. Loving it can you save this in a container
This is similar to a traditional South American air dry clay called biscuit (yes, biscuit), or cold porcelain -- it's about the same recipe, but without the baking soda and with white glue instead (cornstarch and water stay, add a little bit of vaseline or lemon juice as well). Feels similar to polymer clay, but a little more plasticky in texture, and yes, you can do it at home (and we use it a lot, since polymer clay isn't very common or popular here)... it's a lot less crumbly and while not as malleable as polymer clay (and it doesn't take texture as well because of the glue), you can make basically anything with it, with enough effort. :) This one just looks terrible to work with, lol. Might be that instead of wetting your fingers, it'd work best with baby oil or a hand cream or something?
the down things of cold porcelain is that u have to work fast, cause the dough start drying and make a crust outside pieces after like 15 min. U can prolong the time by always keep the moisture with baby wipes. Also it shrinks like a 10 perfect of the original size and colors turn slightly darker. For some reason i could never achieve flat pieces with it. Is a really fun and cheap alternative. Btw, the best way to ad color to them is with oil
Considering the ingredients used, I was amazed at just how well it came together!! I doubt I would have had your patience, and for that reason alone, I will stick to using Polymer Clay, especially with ready made, or easily mixed colours available. I'm a useless gamer, and would no doubt be eaten by something cutely horrible within 5 seconds, but have lots of fun with fellow gaming nerds and maybe keep all your non gaming fans updated on the fun you have with your fans?! Again, really enjoyed your video. Thanks for doing all that work, so I now know I don't have to! Lol x
Now I am surprised to hear about Boitatá in such an odd context, lol - Boitatá is Brazilian-Indigenous mythology, it's a serpent of fire that protects the forests against people wanting to harm them! They are pretty badass, and your sculpture turn out super cute!
I used to help GM an RO server when I was younger. It was some of the best experiences I've had in a game.. I made SO many memories and you're the only one I know who even REMEMBERS or knows the game!!
I always used to make my own air dry clay with glue and corn starch. That seems to be a bit softer and more “gooey” and less crumbly. Maybe you wanna try that out? I can post the link of the video I always used. I loved the video!
We just started watching your channel a few weeks ago, My 7 year old daughter really enjoys your box opening and then throwing it behind your back, she laughs every time. We enjoy your other channels and thought you would like to know.
I was just about to comment that! Boitatá it's an important part of our culture. Anyway, the sculpture looks really amazing! Made me wanna play the game again
The Boitatá is a snake who protects the florest! And she eats eyes and that's make her glow in the night ~ but the Brazilian design does not have this kind of bells
This was such a great video. I love how he turned out...so cute! I remember doing this as a kid with my grandma, the only thing I remember us doing differently is my grandma would split up the recipe into smaller batches once the mixture was smooth and still liquidy then she'd add the colour to these smaller batches and cook all 3 or 4 at the same time using the other burners on her stove, she used call it her 'finger saver' LOL.
Your personality is so funny and your sculpts are amazing , love you and your work keep it up. Also can you make the light fury from how to train your dragon 3
What I like best about you, is you always want things like this to work. It isn't your fault when it messes up, but you do your best to fix it when it does
BethAnn Mayberry I could never actually forget to feed him, it was more I lost track of time so bad that it was almost his bed time when I fed him dinner. He wasn't complaining about being hungry or anything, it was just enough of a wake up call to know I needed to cut MMOs out of my life.
Hey you should try making cold porcelain clay! All you need is cornstarch, glue, and baby oil or lotion! It has the consistency of polymer clay but is air dry and it's super easy to cut out pieces and do detail work when it's done drying. It's also easy to color and doesn't stain your hands, leave that waxy polymer clay residue on your hands, or pick up dirt as easily! I would highly suggest trying it for one of your challenges! It is a more difficult and time consuming process to make, but I think you might like it!
I think you did good for the materials you had. I also think is is a good project to do with young kids its 3 ingredients, 4 if you color it and it would be a fun activity for them I think. Put some newspaper down give them a handful of this stuff and let em have fun 😁😁 great video Jackie! Maybe try out some other recipes?!
I 've seen this recipe very often on Pinterest and wanted to try it out myself. After watching your video - it would ruin my weak nerves 😂. Thank you for trying it out! Love your videos! ❤️
I've tried a cold porcelain recipe last week because I want to start my sculpt project and my black Polymer clay was running out. But in the end, I throw the crumbly stuff away and waited two days until I got new polymer clay.... I admire your patience with these stuff!
This came out so good even the the struggle was so real😅 if you have a good recipe/tutorial for making your own silicone molds for resin this girl would be soooooooo grateful your my go to for all things crafty!!!

Boitatá is actually a creature from Brazilian mythology! It's a mythology not very know, and definitely underappreciated. Of course ragnarok took some creative liberties with the Boitatá, and he looks so cool in your style. Great work as always! :))
You did an awesome job! I'm not gonna lie, I really thought this was gonna be a bust but you proves me wrong.....oh and now my daughter (she's 7yrs) is binge watching your videos now too lol She's extremely crafty/artsy, talented and now an official grain lol
I have a feeling that will not last one cat knock over.... I would keep the cats away from this creation. Good job though I would not have the passions for that
As someone who uses this clay quite a bit, something definitely went wrong with your mixture. It's hard to tell what from the video, but while baking soda clay is crumbly, it shouldn't be quite that crumbly. Still, despite the issues, the texture caused you did a fantastic job getting everything to stay in place and creating a beautiful sculpture!!! Baking soda clay usually doesn't take well to being rolled thin so the fact that you managed to make everything turn out so well is astonishing. If anybody does want to learn more about the clay though, I suggest Maqaroon's video where she tests out three types of DIY air dry clay. Super fun video!!!

Interesting. I'd have probably assumed the creator made it up. But this is way cooler.

The thing is, boiling starch and water makes glue, so both recipes are basicly mixing glue with the soda
