The entire movie is very excellent - and clearly speaks to encouraging young people (and old people) to overcome stereo types they may have (in either direction). We don't purchase many films - just something to collect dust - but this is one we now own. If you've not seen it - please do - it's well it.
I've seen movies in the same genre - "Dead Poet Society", "Dangerous Minds": "Good Will Hunting" [also by Gus Van Sant], "Monalisa Smile", etc... but this movie in my opinion.is the most inspiring, heartfelt, and a good example for the youth of today.
Actually after reading your comment and watched all those movies, your right, this movie is always and has been a great inspiration.. I will watch it from time to time and find more meaningful messages, I hope anyway.. nice channel 😊
I am a writer and I took a lot of inspiration from these words. I write fantasy and detective fiction, but what I use in the fantasy writings is the emotional and personal experiences if the mind to set the challenges that are faced in the novels. At present I am working on a series, and the problems faced are of great danger, and I try to use my emotional experiences and the human nature in these things, for evil, I try robust the things people are afraid of
@@McDunks yes I did! I finished several actually, and am working on getting the first horror novel published. I still come back to this film and it makes me feel a great deal of emotion.
Crawford could have saved face by simply saying "Mr Forrester has verified to this board that there was no plagiarism. Jamal excellent job, I underestimated your abilities, I consider this matter rectified and closed"
Sir Sean Connery is one of my favorite actors. My parents adored him. He's the ULTIMATE James Bond, the original. In my opinion, the best Gus Van Sant movie.
My interpretation of this great scene. Forester: Professor, may I read a few words? Professor: "ohhhhh, byeee all means!" (licking shoes of Forester, the professor is VERY impressed) Forester: (Forester is nonplussed( (Speach).Bla bla bla... etc. (this is not word-for-word, just paraphrasing) Professor: "Oh, my goodness! (said in a sort of sickening idol worshipping sort of way) The quality of your words! We should all aspire to write like that, it's nothing like the crap that Jamal Wallace writes..." Forester: Um, by the way, those were not my words... Jamal Wallace wrote them... (Room erupts in applause) Professor: Quiet please! Settle down! Shush shush shush!!!
24 years later, this movie still moves me

Yes, it is....
In the end I was about to cry. I think all of us should be inspired by these words. Nothing else to say, this speech's awesome!
This is my favorite movie of all time. . . Many don't understand why but it never fails at compelling me. . .
Same here
I did cry. This is one of my favorite movies. I like basketball as well, and to find a basketball movie that is so inspiring is very heartwarming.

that speech changed my life
I wish the entire contents of the letter were recorded. I would love to read it all.
Thank you so much! This was by far my favorite scene in the movie!
The best of luck in your endeavours. I wish you success!

Hi there! Did you ever finish your novel?
@@McDunks yes I did! I finished several actually, and am working on getting the first horror novel published. I still come back to this film and it makes me feel a great deal of emotion.
@@TheLightofAniu Tremendous! Happy to hear that you found your path. :)
thank you for posting this!
My favorite movie ever.

But if he did that there’d be no movie. 😮
That's basically what the other teacher had to do for him because he'd so completely lost the plot at that point 😂
@@plrt6794 true...
Well, yes except in real life there really are people like Crawford and they would rather destroy themselves instead of admitting to be wrong
He didn’t want to acknowledge Jamal’s intelligence that’s why he kept pushing . He was ashamed in the end
This is such a good movie.
😢 love this

I loved Jamal's stare while William Forrester was reading his own words ❤😊
Thank you very much. I have been getting along quite well. I am almost finished the second novel and hopefully starting the third soon
good share
I write because I can... often without thinking first, but then enjoying afterwards. Skillet
I love this scene and its theme of family & friendship: 2 out of the 5 "F's" I favor. (Faith, food & fun are the others.)
LOVE Sean Connery! You are the BEST!!!!
Would love the know the musical score done during the speech...amazing work
Underrated movie.
I uploaded "Letter To Jamal", 4 days ago, with :the song "Over The Rainbow".
I won't let you forget my friend

Buen día.
Desearía que me facilitara el contenido completo de la carta, claro, si lo tienes. Gracias.
This is my movie, been looking for it in stores, guess ill order it online
That’s like michael Jordan going to your school and reading your essay
I wish I could ave heard the entire speech, but it was drowned out by music...
That would have required actual writing
William Forester - Jamal Wallace= William Wallace
Old Zero! Grand Budapest!
Hey that's Michael Pitt cheering at 5:50.
Quiet, all! Quiet PLEASE! Shush shush! This video has NO BEARING on the decision concerning Mr. Wallace!
That's like JD fucking Salinger showing up at my Best Man's speech.
I just realized Steph Curry is shown at the end of this scene 😮
Professor Robert Crawford disliked this video.....
Jimmy from boardwalk
Forester drank someone's glass of water
Well worth it - I meant. =)
this is why teachers teach. And as a teacher I can say that. But don't get pompous
