I thought MayDay was going to wreck havoc in the league when the Bucks signed him and Lee Mayberry. Just goes to show that the NBA is a whole other beast.
Fr mane. They were buzzing in the M. Fun fact. My partner was really hating on dude because some chic he liked was jockin dude. I used to clown his ass. 😂
The players didn't have that MUCH clout as they do Right NOW, so if you talked TOO MUCH s*** that the coach DIDN'T LIKE back in those days, you could get banished from the league REAL easy!
I played against Mayberry in high school. Our teams were in the same conference and Mayberry's team (Tulsa Rogers) would go one to beat us in the 5A Oklahoma State Semi Finals (51-49). Although booting us, I was still a Fan of Mayberry. I thought the May-Day combo was going to shred the NBA as well, like they was doing for the Razorback's. Both of these guys were nice on the court.
I played AAU ball for Todd ….Dude was a real competitor…. Idk if yall know back in 2009-2010 high school coaches use to try in put you in a box 6’5 or better … I got with Todd he help build my confidence though the roof…. He use to always say “You not at your High school when you play for me you hoop” as a young boy we all took that and ran with it… His Stepdad is a coaching legend in Memphis…. His son and him coach in college together living a good life
That’s dope. I remember when I was a young man… Vegas vs Arkansas. The Amoeba Defense vs 40 Minutes of Hell. Todd Day was one of the few cats that wasn’t scared of Vegas. I thought he was going to kill in the nba. From your report, I’m glad he is doing well👈🏿🫡💯
@@slimmsayton the first time I watched this game was as a kid years later (94 or 95) on VHS because my cousin recorded a bunch of games when he was in college. I was in heaven watching NBA players when they were in college.
40 minutes of hell….wow, the memories. Nolan Richardson had those young men ready to go every game. Some of those Memphis State/Arkansas Razorbacks games back in the day were epic. Nice video ✌🏾
Thank you I have been asking for a Todd Day video for a long time. I thought he was gonna set the NBA on fire. Been a fan of his since his Arkansas days in my opinion going to the bucks was a major setback in his career
you make sense and no disrespect but i did do and will EQUALLY SOMEWHAT like cambridge high and the knicks ALMOST as much as power memorial high ucla and the bucks because i did do and will really LOVE star patrick ewing ALMOST as much as legend kareem abdul-jabbar
This is dope. I always wondered what happened to Day. Hey have you done Travis Best? Would he qualify? I think I remember a story of him scoring 80+ points in high school once. I’ve always been a fan of GAtech point guards and I expected a lot more from him.
Use to come to school hollering 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝘿𝙖𝙮! 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝘿𝙖𝙮! In the 𝘽𝙄𝙂 "𝙊" (Osceola High) also reppin Oliver Miller. After the Razorbacks won. That was the Arkansas team that was supposed to win the state it's first championship! That team was actually better than the 94 team but so was the competition. That team ranked up with the best UNLV, Michigan, Duke, Kentucky, N. Carolina, etc. Stayed in the top 10, more so top 5 with a few #1 ranks in the country. Lee Mayberry played in Milwaukee too. If I'm not mistaking he has a few 40 + pt games.
Todd Day was that dude back in the day at Hamilton High School, my old High School was a rival back in the day (Southside High School) that rivalry was one of the best Games in Memphis
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. I remember in the summer of 1994, Terry Porter thought that he was going to get traded to Milwaukee, his hometown. Well, with Portland needing a young scoring shooting guard, I really wanted the Blazers to get Todd Day! IF I heard correctly, in 1996-97, Todd Day "rolled his eyes" when Pat Riley took him out of a game. The next day, during practice, Pat Riley called everybody over, and said, "Todd, you have been waived!"
Good video, Bruh! A good lesson for future players! Seemingly black-balled! I appreciate you highlighting the need to shift to becoming a specialist! Brother Day was truly a talent! Guys like him have kids that make it to the NBA and level-up the family name as it applies to hoops! Dad made all the mistakes and steers their sons away from such pitfalls!
I saw him play once in high school. Our schools were rivals. He was the talk of the city at the time. His name was buzzing. He definitely didn’t live up to his potential. But he was a good guy. Never got into any trouble. His desire for greatness didn’t match his talents. Thanks for sharing.
The fact this video never said the phrase "MAY-DAY" tells me it wasnt very well researched. Especically since Lee Mayberry wasnt only his college teammate thru that great run, but was also drafted in 1st round by Milwaukee as well.
@Stunted Growth Good video bro. Didn't expect this one. I remember watching UNLV vs Arkansas back in 1991, he played his ass off. Had they faced each other again in the 1991 Final Four, I think Arkansas would've beat them
You realize that UNLV went to Arkansas in Feb 1991 and handled The Razorbacks even after Larry Johnson got ejected with about 2 mins left. Were up 10 with 20 secs left. Won 112-105 but it wasn’t even that close. Full game on TH-cam. Larry Johnson had 25 & 14 and Day had 26 & 10 before their ejections
I played against Todd in pick up tournaments back when we were in college and against him at our Life Center gymnasium at our church many years later. Good dude and was a real shooter with range.
Hey Stunted Growth, you should do a video about Michigan's Sean Higgins. He was a 6'9" small forward that could run the floor and shoot the three. He would have fit in better in today's NBA. He had about a 6-year career.
I've been in Memphis all my life 63yrs old and can say this he was one of the best to come out of Memphis ever his stepfather wanted coach Larry finch job ❤❤❤❤😂
This might be a hot take, but maybe Devante Graham could be a stunted growth, or is having his growth stunted! He was hooping for charlotte before he got traded. Maybe I’m reaching cause my name Devante too lol
My family are Razorbacks fans and I became a Bucks fan because of Todd Day. As the vid brings out, there were just too many potent SGs in the league at the time. The Bucks best player (Blue Edwards) and best bench player (Ricky Pierce) were SGs when Todd got there. And he was basically replaced by Ray Allen. He was big enough to play SF, but they had Big Dog for that. Oh well. He was still fun to watch.
In the same day I got videos on Keith Van Horn and Todd Day. That’s good Basketball. On a separate note, I’m just sayin we never seen Todd Day and Todd 1 on the same scene at the same time. (Yeah we old na so 🤷🏾♂️)
What about Jonathon Simmons? Had a good run with the Spurs and looked like he had some great potential. Then had a couple stints with the sixers and magic afterwards, and then out the league playing overseas now. What happened?
Todd was a good player and that was it he never lived up to his pick in the draft teams always thought he would get to the next step in be a special player but he never broke through and giving Pat freaking Riley ultimatums was not a good idea.
Todd Was A Legend In The 90's He Average 50+ points in those Bluff City Classic Summer Games In Memphis. He Murdered Shaq LSU & Larry Johnson UNLV In College.
He’s from my hometown - homie had a bad attitude coming up . My pops used to tell me stories of how back in high school ppl used to say “It’s a New Day” whenever he touched the court. Shit clearly went to bro head.
JT, I thought these two guys had high potential. Both came in the league as upperclassmen and lead their teams to NCAA success. We need Stunted Growth episodes on Chris Duarte and Isaiah Livers.
You should do a Jay Edwards video! He was a troubled star at Indiana, super talented but never seemed to live up to his potential. Another great one would be Labradford Smith out of Louisville! Another “the next Jordan” type player. How about a two piece out of UCLA, Toby Bailey and Charles O’Bannon
Can do you a video on Rodney McCrae? When he got to the Bulls, he totally lost his confidence and there was rumors Jordan ran him out the league. He was a force with the Rockets, Kings, and Mavs tho.
Dont forget....Vin Baker came in the next year, then Big Dog Glen Robinson after that. Bakers quick development as the 2nd option after Robinson affected Day's role and expectations for him on the team dwindled. They could have had a nice "BIG 3" if the Bucks didn't give up on Day.🧐
I remember when Day was here in Milwaukee. He never missed a night out at the clubs-or the ladies that went with them. Lazy, would be an understatement. He didn't try very hard to get better and was reluctant to put on some weight. A terrible waste of potential.
I always give my thanks and gratitude to God and thank him for always being there for me and giving me the strength and confidence also strength to overcome any doubt and fear that be trying to come my way. Lord I will trust you with all my heart .
Another good one as always 💯

The General.👍🏾
MayDay was a solid backcourt
Facts
Need to do one on Georgetown point guard Charles smith aka SMITTY drafted by the Celtics or his brother curt trouble smith dc legends
Oliver Miller was on that team too. One of Arkansas best.
I love watching old highlights of those early 90s Arkansas teams. I watch that 1991 (2)Arkansas vs (1)UNLV game on TH-cam regularly. 😅

Eric Murdock Lee Mayberry and Todd Day all slept on
No they not Herb Kohl should took hometown Sprewell over Day but dam for sure over Mayberry
No they're not, they weren't good enough to be great in the nba.
Todd Day was on of my favorite players growing up, he would really do well in today's NBA, he was a bucket.
That 92 draft class was good but left a lot to be desired. Day is one of those examples. Not sure I’d call him a bust but underachieving for sure.
I believe I was the first one to ask for this thank you my guy keep em coming

Mayberry and Todd Day in college and then they both got drafted to Milwaukee too.
