I actually recorded this early this year, right before I moved out of my studio, (literally started breaking down my drums after I finished recording this take!)... and the footage sat on my desktop until now!
Songs are played/recorded in ONE continuous take
That means there are:
- NO Cuts/Drop-ins
- NO Replacements/Samples (all drum audio is LIVE from the Drum Mics)
- Only basic EQ/Compression/Reverbs used!
....If it's not 'perfect'....that’s just real life!

Idk how I’m just now seeing this video for the first time but this is fuckin killer bro🤘🏻‼️ I got a question for ya tho, I saw on a documentary or something Robb said Dave McClain never used a click track to record his parts, and I’ve noticed in some of the songs from that era, it does speed up on certain parts like the outro to “this is the end”, which I totally like, but what I’m wondering is, does it make it harder on you to record these when the time speeds up and slows down?
Oh absolutely, they didn't use Clicks much at all when recording nearly ALL of the back catalogue....and YES it does make it tricky when I'm recording these videos - especially when I'm making the click tracks for me to play along too! But live, the songs are standardised - but do have the tempo's sped up/down where necessary!
