I lived in England in the late 80s and up to the mid-90s. I saw this ad everytime I was at the cinema and it still cracks me up everytime. it's actually very clever humour.
Flying at 60ft in the dark at 240mph into machine gun fire, and bouncing a 4 tonne bomb like a pebble across a reservoir to blow up a dam 145ft high and 120ft thick. How incredible was that, and how brave were those guys!!!
No disrespect to the airmen but that raid had little effect on German war production but some German civilians were drowned (!) in their beds that night. The highly-polished myth is more attractive than reality. I like that the ad sends up the British obsession with our inflated opinion of our wartime achievements.
@@cacambo589 More Russian workers died than German civilians in the raid. Nevertheless, as ineffectual as the raid was, it was a huge moral booster for the country.
And to think the british censors removed this add for being disrespectful to the ww2 raf boys. The raf were well know for their sense of humor they would have laughed their bollocks off !!!
Best of it is, the BBC asked four of the surviving Dam Busters after the ad got pulled. They were very disappointed because they felt the ad was hilarious and not at all offensive.

I'm sure the German sent them a telegram afterwards that said "Could you guys show up later next time? You made me throw away a good sandwich!"
OMG they don't make adverts like this any more. In fact they don't make TELEVISION like this any more :-(
The pilots are Mark Arden and Steve Frost.
Only one pilot actually
Was that the first one (D.B advert) I seem to remember an equally, if not, funnier advert. 🤔
Orville Reddenbacher's favorite movie.
It's Oliver Kahns father.
