@@genichiroashina1 If that is what you want to believe than that is fine. I've been watching Ranton for around 5 or 6 years now (I'm pretty sure 5) so I've just come to usually know what he'll rate a game. Not to mention the meme of this channel is him ranking everything 7/10.
The golden path term is literally me everytime I play a game. If it’s the right way, I want to do the opposite first, but it’s hard to tell which way continues the story

It's so true. I never could tell which way was extra, and I've been gaming for 34 years at least. Like wtf I know all the signs level designers give and yet this game was a mystery.
Agreed. I would take what I thought was the alternate path just to realise it was the main path, and then go back to do the alternate path. That got old. Now I just play 50/50 and keep on moving either way.
The lack of Golden Pathing actually added to the tension and dread as I didn’t know which way was going to lock me out of optional exploration opportunities…..
I’m joking, of course! This was also one of my main gripes with this title which actually became quite frustrating after a few times. Making the player backtrack between both paths while having them guess which of the two had a point of no-return was extremely poor design in my opinion as well. A simple map or temporary waypoint marker would have alleviated a lot of my frustration with this game lol
@@cristhian900 very poor design. Other games have solved this by making the main path have more lights (or a certain colour of lights). Even something as simple as having the main path lit up and the alternate path darker with less light would work. I wouldn't be surprised though if they didn't do this because of the reason you mentioned.

It's not a disaster by any means, it just completely falls short of what it could have been and isn't bad enough to be funny. I feel for the people who did the graphical design on this game because it looks absolutely phenomenal.
I wonder if it’ll get a sequel. I think it performed below expectations. And with the Dead Space series going through remakes… idk.

I actually give this game a 9 out of 10.. and the Reason for it , is Immersion. For me Immersion is everything for me. If the games makes you feel , that you are actually in a different world with zombies ,then it is worth of it.. But the game is not perfect.. i dont liked how poorly executed was the story , they did nothing to make people interested in any character in the callisto world.. I hated the asian girl in the game, was a poorly designed character story too. When it comes to gameplay , the gameplay is quite good, too and i don't see what is all the hate for the weapons in the game ,the melee combat is only mandatory in the intro in the game , but they can use Guns ,which are very fine . There are people who finished the game using merely firearms.. after the intro.. and there are games that people finish the game using only melee combat.. So the gameplay do give you plenty of options to play it, you can use the gravitation hand too. Characters animation and graphics super awesome. THis game is a solid keeper for me.. 9 out of 10.. So calling this is a disaster is an insult or even using that word at all.. If this is a disaster ,then all games are too. I think that what happens , is that the majority of gamers community ,are highly immature people that can be very influenced by elite review sites, and do not have an opinion on its own.. i can't see how top review sites give Callisto protocol 3/10 but then go an review crappy nintendo games with minecraft graphics and gets 10 out of 10. and then give Witcher 3 10 out of 10.. a game with and horrible combat system and bad collision detection issues , that you miss to hit targets right in front of you , even if they don't move. In my opinion there is a lot of corruption in this review sites , because i can't see how an awesome game like callisto could get 3/10 for example in Angry JOE review or IGN or Gamespot if you have a good PC , with recommended settings. It suggest that those reviews are not only dishonest , but that there could be secret money deals between some game companies and them ,to damage the competition with a negative and unfair review.
Ranton is really the best game reviewer out here.

Yeah the golden path thing really bothered me greatly while playing as well, to the point i had to google a few times to see which paths were optional and which were not. I just don't get how they didn't think of adding some sort of compass like in Dead Space.

The horror portion of this game is more set for high intensity instead of being too scared to move.
It really is a action game so giving a player to fight back tells you this is the kind of horror your going to get.
true i get the problems of the game but with that aside its a decent game and I dont think most people get that like I swear one guy who hasnt played dead space is gonna be having a good time playing this im telling you

Tbh, I enjoyed the game. Great story though you need to collect the collectables to get more information and gameplay had some great variety to combos. Unfortunately until NG+ comes out, I don’t feel like playing through it again. Something about the latter half just felt extremely drawn out
@@epgamer1145 yeah i'm just glad that at least glad some people liked it I liked it cause I usually like playing games where you get close up to the enemy and the story is decent but it doesnt take much for me to like a game as long as you can play it, it looks great, close range combat, and some other abilities like telekinisis n stuff then it a good game for me and i think what also threw people of is that its more of an action game than a horror game like they the atmosphere and some times when you loot you get jumpscared if you havent seen for 100th time bt overall 8/10
I will die on the hill that combat belongs in horror games 100%. If anything it can amplify the horror of its done right. If anything a horro game with no combat is automatically bad for me because it not only diminished the horror, it basically reduces the game to a glorified walking simulator.

I use the game “Alien isolation” as a good example.
Though there you can deter the alien away with various weapons, you could never kill it.
On top of that, it was incredibly sensitive to any noise made by the player so I was afraid of running. Even walking seemed to risky.
Still a fun game but there was a lot of hiding and 90% of the game, I was crouched
I cant explain it but at 0:05 seconds into the video , the way your wife says nein and the way the sound effects are in the background make it seem very surreal and uncanny, kind of like the vibe i get from that old "yee" video on youtube.

Men, i really was excited for this game, since i though the first dead space was an absolute masterpiece. When it drops in price i might take a closer look at it for myself, but until then i am fine missing out… wow, i would have never thought to hear that from me, since i am an absolute ds1 developer stan.

This game is very good , don't listen the negative reviews outthere. If you have a slow PC ,you might hate it however. It requires at least a Geforce 3060 or something similar to play it at 4k and raytracing is very expensive ,don't use it unless you have a very fast PC with something like a 3090 or 4080 at least. The game is as good as any deep space game , and is amazingly immersive , gameplay is fun too. the only thing the game was poorly done for me , was the Story telling , was not very well executed.. Characters are not memorable . but overall is very good.. 9/10 for me.
If you like dead space you probably would not like this game. It lacks so much of what made dead space a memorable experience.

That's not what jacksepticeye said. He said he played it and made a single video of it from the beginning but didn't enjoy his time with it so instead of publishing the video and setting up the president that he would continue it as a playthrough, he decided to play the entire game in his own time and ultimately just didn't like it but respected the devs's vision of the game.

its because the story is mediocre, the characters are kinda one note, the gameplay is repeditive and limited, and its just not that scary man.

For reference i spent most than 45 hours playing God of War ragnarok briliant story and gameplay but from the begining i knew what will happen in the end. Most people just don't know what a good game is sadly.

Know what's cool?? I think almost all these issues could be fixed with a DLC overhaul.
All they have to do is add a dodge button and quick turn, put in 2 extra weapons and make lighting cues for golden path.

Man the game is so good like you said, that damn dodging mechanic. If you have no ammo in group fight you might as well leave till you get a couple of bullets it’s so frustrating getting too shot when there is literally no where for me to move.

One if not the only game review channel that is down to earth and not industry manipulated. Even if most of them are 7 out of 10 doesn't mean they all need different ratings. In the horror sci-fi experience, Callisto is at the top, like it or not. Also, considering there's not too much competition around that genre without mentioning Dead Space; created by the same director.
@Josh Smith It's also worth noticing that the Callisto Protocol was their first game. Such a great foundation. I'm so pumped for what they create next.
I recently replayed ds1 and ds2 and found them to be scarier and the action was more fun. But then again i like shooting more than melee combat. I'd give this game a 6/10 at most, it definitely wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either imo. I think 6/10 is a fair and respectable score.
I think simply reworking the dodging mechanic to make it so that you ACTUALLY have to read the enemies movements and dodge in the correct direction, instead of just spamming left right left right left right would do a whole lot for the melee combat
@@GSixFiveFourThreeFourDashTwo It's a fair score too. I enjoyed the impact and feeling of the action, specially the melee, but the dodging and quick shot mechanic made it felt too arcade-ish.
@@gusvega4372 fixing that dodge would do a lot for the gameplay i think, i hope they tweak it. And yeah the quick shot is kind of awkward.
I do like how meaty the swings are though, you can really feel the impact.

As someone who finished the game before the devs patched in tweaks to make the game easy, I fell in love with a lot of this one! And, yes, it has its flaws, but I'm just happy that there's finally a based review out there!!! Thank you, Ranton!
Best, most honest review and breakdown I’ve seen regarding this game, great job! The reason for all the crawling is the last gen consoles, so they can stream in the content in enough time on their slow 5400rpm hard drives. It really hurt the overall pacing of the game. We’re at the point now where the Xbox1 and ps4 need to be abandoned because they are effecting the quality of games on current gen. This game was clearly rushed out the door, it needed another 6 months, because the new game + mode won’t even be here until February.
The being said, I still enjoyed my experience on PS5. It just could have been SOOOOO much better with more time, hopefully with a few content updates it will be a great experience. Right now it’s a solid 7.5/10 imo, assuming you play it on XsX/S, PS5, or PC. Those last gen ports are terrible and should be avoided, even on the beefier PS4 Pro and X1X.

Really happy that the old style came back
I think more enemy variety and weapons/gadgets would have been great. also nailing down the animations for swings so you could better predict which side to move/dodge. prior to the guaranteed dodge patch, enemies were just too difficult to predict because they would try to fake you out.
maybe even including different types of melee weapons and a shield. or mods for the armor that could alter the playstyle.
I did really like this game, and I was really loving it right up until the end because the deadspace similarity was just too silly and on the nose. CP didn't need another crazy cult.
10/10 review. I hope you'll review games on other platforms in the future as well.
I understand what’s he’s saying about story path issues. In most games, like Ragnorok for example, the side characters make it very obvious which path is optional or more important. But in this game the devs just said “alright let’s make them play the games ten times just to have a chance of discovering everything.”
