    These look amazing! That’s is by far my fave zipper construction - I always modify my pants patterns to do that technique. Foolproof and, as you say, better zipper placement. (You also sound great - the Invisalign is a non-issue in terms of the clarity of your speech!) 👍💜

    • @PatternScout

    Love the Max Mara lines with your trench coat and thrifted coat. Nice details also. It's worth doing the authentic buttons and other finishes. If you have 1/4 inch at the hem, you could consider a self-fabric bias tape hem (not sure how wide would look right - 3/4 inch?). Bias tape finish works well on flared hems. I really like your zipper method for fly front. I sort of gave up on pants at some point but I think that customizing your own pattern is the way to go. Your methods are really helpful. Thanks, PatternScout.

    It never occurred to me how much the zipper placement causes the fly to stick out like that. I just looked at several pairs of pants and sure enough- the off center zippers are the ones that stick out! Will center them going forward. Well done tutorial Casey - and another great video!

    Yay, you’re back! Hope you had a lovely holiday! Your pants are, of course, Fab! Great colour. All the pieces work so nicely together. I need to make some flares, methinks🤔 I just thrifted two pairs of men’s jeans in a very large size (one pair still had the labels on) to unpick and recut to my size, which I’ve done a few times before. A cheap and satisfying way of doing things. Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Not sure I’ll get flares out of them. But we shall see. Anyway, Thanks for sharing, Casey!

    Thank you for this - so many good ideas and tips. I also like making trousers. I have the opposite problem to you, in being quite short, but also have a tummy bulge so am really interested in ways to reduce bulk at this point. I will try your zip approach. Also will interface buttons - shoudl have thought of that before. I have made a couple of pairs of Lander panst with button-up flies and the button areas do get a bit funky from being fastened and unfastened a lot.

    Casey STOP these look so cute!! I'm so envious you've got a great fitting pants pattern to work from. So many possibilities. I've tried to replicate commercial pants I have and it just didn't work, currently on mock up 3 of some pants trying to perfect the fit and it's just a disaster 🥴. Somehow it looks like I have a wedgie but the crotch curve has a lot of ease??? Your pants fit EXACTLY the way I'm going for. I'm actually making a video on my channel for it currently, maybe you can laugh at my pain in the near future 🙃
    Do you think you could maybe have a dedicated video on pants fitting issues?? That would be so great to see!

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!! I have had lots (and lots) of practice with pants making/fitting, so I have learned what works for me (and I also reuse the same pattern over and over when I figure out what works!).
      I could probably talk more about pants fitting in future videos! I know it's one of those things that can be quite a journey! Your crotch curve might have too much ease (maybe). Crotch curves can be a little counterintuitive to fit. I found that I get a good fit in the front crotch when I scoop out the curve a little more, essentially removing 1/4" on many pants patterns to make the curve more rounded. Not sure if that will resolve your issue, but that works wonders for me (and prevents the dreaded cameltoe!) :)
