Instead of only talking about himself, insulting the other party or just making it a popularity contest he talks about real problems at hand and how he'd fix them.

@@imperialmotoring3789 What is your definition of illegals? Your inference is kinda rich considering Koch and American friends have been screwing the rest of the world out of fair pay for decades. The US harbours the biggest perpetrators of illegality. Yet when the consequences of their greed come knocking on your door you instantly protect the progenitor of that angst-that being the venality and vanity of your corporate gods. And what are the GQP and Tr*mp if not the most dangerous people on Earth? I bet if you swapped person-for-person immigrants (who are predominantly escaping resource wars, caused by your friend Koch and the effects of global warming also caused by your friends like Koch) with the corporate backing right-wing politicians everything would suddenly begin to move in a positive direction.
You can also blame the Ukraine war on the oil barons of Russia and their Tr*mp-aligned support. Whatever needs to be done to push Putin back across the border must be done. Grain prices are dependent on it. But I guess that's information you haven't really paid attention to.

Your hero Raygun got us into this mess when he declared war on the middle-class by declaring war on unions!!
While your hero Raygun dropped the highest tax rates on the greedy rich donor class, Raygun raised taxes 11 times on struggling middle-class workers!!
Raygun DID double FICA on workers' paychecks as he saw that Baby Boomers would need to see there would be no decline in our Social Security when it came time to retire.
Raygun also made sure that if any retired person was working, that THEN they would have their Social Security benefits TAXED!
      Little factoid:
      Raygun reigned from 1981-1989.
Look at what he did for middle class workers...AGAIN!🤯

I do think that the defense budget is inflated even before any increases, but I think the way bernie phrases the numbers mentioned is unfair.
In terms of percentage of the total US budget . So far in this fiscal year alone 5.3 trillion usd has been spent
21% is spent on social security
      14% on health
      13% on incomee security
      12% on medicare
      11% paying off interest programs
      5% on social security programs
compared to defense being just 13% of the budget.
The proposed increase to defense spending would be 0.5% of the amount of money we have spent so far this year. This money would not make a dent in solving even a single problem bernie mentions. The truth is even if defense spending was put to 0 (which is absurd in todays world), we wouldn't be able to solve any of those problems.
If we really wanted to make a difference in America, we would reduce American debt, cut off inefficient/obsolete government programs, reduce overall government spending/budget, and remove government regulation artificially raising prices.

One contributing factor is that with our once world-renown public schools being defunded and moving more towards privatized, corporate-owned charter schools, teaching young ppl about their government, a once required class called Civics, hasn't been taught in decades now.
Americans rely on social media for their "news." 🤯 Also, our news has been so consolidated and bought by mostly Rethuglicon uber rich CEOs, that to really get the facts--and not opinion dressed-up as facts is hard to obtain or trust. Not everyone has internet today and we are now such a divided country that cults have formed with the rightwing "news" community, ie FOX, OAN, Newsmax + 1500 reichwing billionaires hate+lies radio channels nationwide.
The youth of our country do want better and the facts. There aren't a whole lot of progressive media but we can still manage to find some, like this site. We know there is some real destruction in our lives to know corporations really can't be trusted for the facts & they ARE our problem.
We do have some great progressive fighters in the Democratic party today but, you're right--not enough.
I believe more ppl will become more activist as long as fascists & the greedy sociopaths try to control our lives more & more in time.
Youth aren't putting up with it.

I also think we need to enforce anti-trust in the defense industry. Pick apart Boeing's military planes from their commercial ones, reestablish the state armory at Springfield, Divide up Reon and so on. Many defense contractors have monopoly positions so they can charge whatever they want.

How the DoD cannot account for that amount of assets is unacceptable. The government owes it to the taxpayer to account for each and every penny the spend. The relationship between government and its citizens is very much that of parents and their children - WITH THE CITIZENS BEING THE PARENTS because they are paying for all the bills. Government officials in the US must learn to understand their role as servants of the public and disclose FULLY how they use the taxpayers dollars. Every other modern democracy across the globe does that. If you dont fix that problem you cannot call the US a democracy anymore.

Those would've been fine words, if not for the elephant in the room. Bernie speaks of Afghanistan, but somehow fails to mention the biggest war since WWII raging in Europe and associated geopolitica rift. He talks about US army having a budget larger than many of the allies combined - but somehow fails to mention, that, say, Germany had their military almost criminally underfunded, way below the agreed NATO percentage, and now need to ramp up their bundgets feverishly. He speaks as if it's still in 2019.
To me this says that the real reason to stand against the new budget is because it really, really upsets mr. pootin.

Normally I would agree, but we're faced with the Russian attack on Ukraine at the moment. Let's get through this assault before taking away from military spending. Unfortunately, other NATO countries had stopped spending enough on military, so the US is having to cover more than we might like. We can hope the Russo-Ukraine war is over soon, but until then, let's not cut spending too much.
