When I was 36 I decided I wanted to have the last movement of this sonata played at my funeral. I'm now 74 and haven't changed my mind. Though tinged with sadness, it sums up a life beautifully.

ベ－ト－ヴエンの最後期の30・31・32・番のソナタの中で私個人的には３０番が一番好きで良く聴いて居ます．ブレンデルのベ－ト－ヴエンは聴く方の体が硬くなるほど曲の冒頭から終曲まで緊張感が終始あり．透明感１音１音丁寧に音をそろえているのが聞いていて感動を与える．この演奏も最高の出来映えだと思います。

I'd put this and Brendel's recorded version of the same piece up as the greatest interpretation. I've spent a lot of time with Beethoven over a few decades now, and I still can't find a better interpretation. He just channels Beethoven straight to our soul. I just feel very blessed I've had Brendel and Beethoven play a very significant part in my life.
