OMG.

PHA is a gentler version of AHA because they have a bigger molecular size so they are not as potent as AHA. Perfect for sensitive skin. Yeah madalas sila nakikita plang sa Korean skincare and also some western skincare like yung toner ng Glow Recipe (technically its also made in Korea but its main market is the US) and Paula's Choice.

Tsaka I think, one more important rule of thumb in exfoliating (and in all skincare products in general) PATCH TESTING! Patch testing is super important para malaman mo if 1) may irritation or negative reaction si skin mo sa product especially direct acids, and 2) para malaman mo kung kaya siyang itolerate ng skin mo.
Patch Testing 101: Leave a pea sized amount nung product sa arm part, opposite the elbow or sa behind the ear. It depends sa product if it's leave-in or wash-off exfoliator. Then after 24-48 hours, doon mo malalaman if irritated yung skin mo or G lang yung skin mo sa exfoliator :D

I went through a bad acne phase from end of 2019 to around March 2020, and as soon as those active zits went away, I started to ramp up my acid game. I used Cos de Baha 10% glycolic acid and 4% salicylic acid. I built myself up to applying BOTH every. Single. Day.
Let me tell you, my spots were not fading. They stayed red and brown, and some even turned black! I realized after reviewing videos from James Welsh and Liah Yoo and the other skincare gods that I was overdoing my exfoliation.
My spots have been fading nicely since only using AHA once a week and only spot treating with BHA (4% SA is amazing spot treatment!).
On another note, what are your insights on fungal acne? I’ve been a sufferer of it since 2016 and am currently managing it well now. I do know a lot of people from our tropical side of the world would appreciate the information, though. Hope you could make a video on that.
    Great content as always! ❤️

Kakastart ko palang magskincare and before ko matagpuan si Hyram, nagpapadala pa ko sa mga reviews ng filipino yts. Gumamit ako ng Perla Papaya at Abonne scrub araw araw (i know i was stupid). Tapos yung glutamax at aloe vera gel na hype na hype ngaun. I'd been keeping that routine for 2wks and omg super overexfoliated yung skin q (perla + scrub = shitshow). I was freaking out. So ayun, magsstart over ako. Natrauma ako sa physical exfoliation, so im wondering kung ilang wks/days para magheal yung skin ko para ready na for chemical exfo. I have combination skin den, more on blackheads ako tas maliliit na pimples sa noo. Anong serum ang mairerecommend niyo sa overexfoliated and combination skin type? Is it niacinamide or lactic acid? (Haba ng context pota sorry)

I love The Ordinary for their acids! I started off my chemical exfoliation journey last year August. I started off with the Lactic 5% then to Lactic 10% and now, Glycolic 7%. I’m glad I made my way up in strength because I have never experienced any tingly, burning sensations or irritation from these AHAs. I also did use the AHA/BHA Peeling Solution, which I just finished up last week. I did purge from this product, but that was expected. Overall I love chemical exfoliation and I am currently using The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning and Paula’s Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant both on the same night routine twice a week. No issues so far.

Before I got pregnant, I was using niacinamide and lactic acid 5%. It really made my skin clear and smooth. Sobrang ganda nyan. Question ko po, after 1 year of not using lactic acid, ok lang ba na I try AHA BHA agad or to be safe lactic na lang ulit?. I like your contents. Twice a day po ako maligo every 10am (bago umalis) and 3pm (pagka uwi).

Hi kuys Jan Angelo, I've watched all of ur videos about BHA/AHA pero di ko parin alam kung dapat ko ba gamitin ang (QuickFX facial gel cleanser) and (COSRX BHA Blackhead power liquid) nang magkasabay. nakalagay po sa QuickFX facial gel cleanser is AHA siya so it means bawal ko po gamitin ang dalawang product nato kahit once in a week lang yung COSRX? Pleasee helpp🤧😭🤚

I love your videos! :) I’m very much into exfoliants also. I use Neutrogena blackhead toner with BHA every other day, which helped me a lot with my blackheads, whiteheads and pimples because it cleared out my pores. I only use the Neutrogena toner every other day since using it everyday can cause my skin to be more sensitive (I alternate it with Thayers toner). Sa body naman, I use Neostrata 10% glycolic acid lotion every other day at nighttime, especially sa arms and legs pang even out ng skintone. Mas maganda kasi ang puting pantay all over haha you don’t want a floating head. 😊 Sunblock din is also very important when using exfoliants. I’ve also used Azelaic Acid in the past for my post inflammatory acne marks.

I remember our first time to buy AHA/BHA from The Ordinary years ago. So binasa namin, ganito ganyan. Then, the next day, one of our officemates pumasok sya na sobrang pula ng face nya. Turns out ginamit nya ung product overnight! It should only be on your face for 10 mins then wash it off. Nakakaawa pero nagtawanan na lang kami. Lol

    Hi Jan Angelo.
Your videos are great andvery informative. Finally a skin care vlogger worth watching too.
But I have a request, can you make a video on "what if this is removed from my skin care routine"
Doing my normal skin care routine but
    - what if toners are removed from my skin care routine.
    - what if exfoliating is removed from my skin care routine
    - what if moisturizing is removed from my skin care routine.
    - etc...
Just to showcase importance of the steps. Thank you.
