    I agree with the comments on using correct crochet terms. If one is giving instructions then one should use the correct terms. I was taught to crochet and knit at age 11 yrs I'm now 65 and would consider myself an advanced crocheter. Your pattern is pretty.

    I made one of these for my daughter and I loved how it turned out. I am doing a second one for a dear friend. I have only been crocheting for a few months but your instructions were easy to follow. I used a multicolored baby alpaca yarn the first time and am now trying a really soft cotton yarn. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful pattern and the patience and guidance in your teaching style.

    I made this scarf for myself...so I thought...A friend came over, saw the scarf, and she fell in love with it. She has a birthday coming up within three weeks. Guess what I'm crocheting now?
    Yep! She's going to be pn the receiving end of this beautiful scarf!
    Thank you so much for your tutorial. Your instructions are wonderful. Your sweet and patient voice is so very apppreciated!

    I like it when you say 3 little loops, little tails, it's very cute and I understand it all, so never mind all the comments that are annoyed, you are sweet and very beautiful, these people are just jealous of you, keep up the good work, I have been crocheting and knitting for over 65 years and my favourite that you do is your famous scarf.

      No jealousy whatsoever. But I’m reluctant to try this due to all the comments about the instructions. The stitch looked so pretty. Maybe I can find it elsewhere that gives true crochet terminology.

    Thank you for sharing your tutorial of a beautiful scarf. Not working and having tons of yarn, I am making these scarves as Christmas gifts. I’m so sorry for the negative comments I have read. Why can’t we operate from a place of Love & Humility. I appreciate the time and effort that you put into your videos. My nails stopped growing long after my hysterectomy but I still use your tutorials to take care of and decorate my short cute nails. I pray that you and your a family stay healthy & safe during this Pandemic! Just keep doing you - and let your light shine.

    I just got through reading so many negative comments. I don't mean to be arrogant, but no matter what she had on her fingers, you would understand what she was saying and doing if you are an experienced with crocheting. I f you are having troubles and you need to go back and brush up on your skills. I have been crocheting for 45 plus plus years and I know exactly what she was doing.....she is the best tutor I have found on you tube........you need to be gracious and thankful that she generously shares her skills with you. A thank you would be nice

    Hi. I just have to say how much i enjoy your crochet videos, you make them so easy to follow and understand. I've watched other crochet videos on youtube and find them difficult to follow, they go too fast and use crochet lingo which i find confusing. I am also useless at trying to follow a crochet pattern, (it's like trying to read music, i can't follow that either) and following what you do is so easy and simple. So thank you for doing these videos and i hope to see more in the future. x

    I just wanted to thank for your crochet videos , they are refreshing and VERY easy to follow. Some people are not flexible at all regarding your terminology...they are used to one way and cant adapt themself...altleast if its not their way its not good. If some people, coz they are beginners could get confused, its ok it happens mostly coz you're a beginner (and not only for this tutorial, could happen to any tutorial). Im french here the terminology is different, in uk its different in australia too. If you know how to crochet just make the effort... as long as you have a visual and good explanation, as it is here, its ok. Her voice is lovely and explanation are details, you can clearly see the stitches so her nails are no issue. Crochet people no need to be negative coz she's different, apreciate her for sharing her pattern..and smile as beautifully as her. After all its all about sharing. ;)

    • @auntiebagel4788
      @auntiebagel4788 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It's not about being inflexible or unable to adapt, it's about our hostess giving instructions incorrectly. If we were to follow her verbal instructions rather than what she actually does on screen, this lovely project would turn out to be a mess. Fortunately, like so many that have already commented, many of us are experienced yarn crafters and have been crocheting for many years, thus we are able to correct her lack of ability to instruct and still come away with the lovely project she had intended for us. The people I feel sorry for are the beginners. I always appreciate when these folks share their time and patterns with us, but I also feel they have a certain duty to their followers to teach them correctly. Not being a responsible teacher will only lead beginners to become discouraged, perhaps hindering their desire to continue learning a project that does not turn out appropriately. It's not their fault that our hostess doesn't know how to teach her craft correctly.

      Artistic Auntie Bagel, Past and Present I liked how she began her chain; I’d never seen it that way. But I agree with you. verbal instructions are incorrect, regardless of the country. I’ve crocheted for 50 years so I’m very experienced. Watching the video is the only way to get the hang of what she’s doing. Beginners should NOT watch.

    • @Babs3353
      @Babs3353 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@auntiebagel4788 you said that So artfully! Thank you. I felt so mean feeling 'critical' but I feel the same way. It IS important. Imagine trying to build something if you're calling a bolt a screw, or vice versa.. Or worse yet, calling either one of them a nut? I am an intermediate, working towards expert (hee hee) crocheter and I really want to make this, but I'm gonna have to turn the sound down, do my own counting and write it out using the correct terminology. That is going to take quite a while so it seems. If that's not a compliment to her project, I don't know what is? Unless you know someone else who has a tutorial of the same or very similar piece (wink)? I too feel badly for beginners, learning is frustrating enough! But then again, look how many comments claim they're beginners (1st project?) and say they had no problem... How easy it was. I'm confused there. Thanks for your clarity of our concerns for using correct terminology!

    • @Babs3353
      @Babs3353 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cubbylevi1764.... Very confusing to listen to... But I disagree in a way. You can probably follow and learn by watching only.... It's the verbal explanation that's the problem. Not good for starters or beginners. Or even intermediates like me. I'm going to have to mute this, watch every stitch and Write the pattern out using the correct counts and terminology just so I can make this beautiful item.

  • @dianemettra2445
    @dianemettra2445 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I LOVE this scarf. I have received so many compliments and requests for these! I decided to add a few chains to the beginning because there were comments that the finished scarf was too small. I found it fit perfectly! I decided to sew on the buttons and then use velcro instead of actually "buttoning" it. So far, so good with that. I have made a lot of regular scarves and infinity scarves, but this is my favorite. Yes, the way this is counted is different; but the camera work is so clear that you can get the idea and adjust the count if necessary.

    I also noticed that you haven't responded but no problem. If I pay attention to what you're doing instead of listening to what you're saying, I can't go wrong. When you say chain 5, I really see you doing chain 4; chain 3 is ch 2; chain 2 is ch 1; the ch 1 that you did was really a slip stitch. This is what I saw. I've been crocheting since I was 7, I'm 59 now. The pattern is lovely! Thank you for sharing!

    Your scarf is beautiful and the pattern is absolutely amazing and unique! Thank you for sharing this!!! One thing though you are not counting your "chains" or "loops" correctly and it can be very confusing, especially for beginners and newbies...just a note...but you're still great :)!

      Yes! I found it to be very confusing! I have never heard anyone count the yarn on the hook as first chain before. I find it confusing and makes me hesitant to even try this scarf even though I think it is one my daughter would wear.

      @@itsmelaura1533 agree, I would love to know the name of the *stitch pattern* and would look that up as her instructions are confusing. A very pretty design, though.

      @itsmelaura1533 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@noblumoon Yes! Knowing the name of the stitch would be a big help! I would love to have a written pattern with correct terms. I think I would make this again and again. I have tried writing my own as I watch but I kept getting mixed up. I did try to follow along but still got mixed up.

    The scarf is beautiful and it made up pretty quick! The only problem was It turned out too small in finished size for me but made a perfect gift for someone with a smaller neck. I am an ole timer and I had to listen carefully to you as I never count the stitch on the hook. You did keep me on my toes. Thanks for a great tutorial.

    I finally muted the sound and just watched, then wrote it down...it was helpful that way. But, I will admit, everytime she started a stitch I said to myself...I'm gonna wrap the yarn around my crochet hook.....:)

    great pattern! 72 chains wasn't long enough for mine either. i used a 6mm hook and worsted weight yarn. will try it again but go up a few more chains. Thanks for posting this lovely pattern.

    • @karenrecord1063
      @karenrecord1063 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +darthhobbit69 I did it with the 72 chain and 19 rows not right now I am doing it over with a chain of 99 and 9 rows much better

    • @kimquinn7728
      @kimquinn7728 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Karen Record appreciate reading your reply. I was 9 rows done and realized how short it would be. Aaargh! took it all apart and will begin with 99. I, also, am using Red Hart Love but in Tan (Oatmeal to me :) ) and beginning anew. Do love the pattern but only have an I/9-5.5mm hook. Won't be as loose as the one in video but still beautiful.

    • @blkdiadem

      I make these all the time using 72 chains and 9 or 10 rows. Once you get the gist of it, it comes easy. Since life is not made only of photos, I have decided to participate in the game called "a meeting between friends". the idea is to see who reads a post without photos. If no one reads this message on my wall, it will be a short experience, but if you read it, make a comment with a word about us. Just a word. For example, a place in common or that makes you think of me, an object, a moment, a song, a shared experience, a sport, a movie... then copy this message on your wall and then I'll leave you a comment. Please don't just leave the word if you don't have time to copy the text. That would ruin the game. 😊
