I am SOOOO glad to find this album on TH-cam! I fell in love with this style of music during my childhood, first listening to some selections on WRAP, the (then) only black AM radio station in Norfolk, every Sunday, especially as background music as the announcer was praying. Fond childhood mem'ries. So I bought the album, which by now is not so clear. Decades later, at the church I attended in Alexandria, VA, the organist had studied under Bolden, so I got to enjoy some of Bolden's style all over again. May he RIP.
I remember hearing black gospel as a young kid back in the mid 60s and thinking, why can't we have music that's this fun in the white churches? BTW, what's that tune with the piano about 10 minutes in? Sound Hound couldn't ID it. Would LOVE to get a hold of a copy.

@@mikebracchi Yes. That same song was written by the late professor Alfred Bolden and was also recorded by the voices of tabernacle with Alfred on the organ.
Alfred Bolden could really swing it, he was way ahead of his time! I have this very album and treasure it highly! It is on the Atlantic label can you believe it? I have seen it in stereo however my copy is in mono.He also made another album but I have been unable to obtain it yet but I will someday. Boy can that B3 sing!

Thank you for posting this! TH-cam recommended this and I never knew I needed to hear this until then. I had heard of Mr Alfred from a workshop I attended a few years ago with the Gospel musical Legend Donald Lawrence. We got into a conversation and we discussed one of my life-long musical heroes, the late Minister Thomas Whitfield and he told me that Whitfield was inspired by Alfred on the organ. Hearing this now totally makes sense. THANK YOU!!!!
