Your parents had wonderful taste Helen! How lovely to be surrounded with the things your parents (and now you) love! I like the idea of taking objects from your house as a starting point for drawing, and adding to the design - so unique! In one of your painted sketchbooks I love a particular colour combination you have used. Can't wait for your next video Helen. 😊
Time and time again I dip into your TH-cam videos. I like your ethos. I think it is healthy to reflect on work and continually build on what is already there. I compare myself far too much to others and need to follow my own path and investigations. Thanks for the insight. 👍☺️
I adore your wonkiness Helen ❤ I am quite taken by wonky houses, wonky furniture and well, wonky everything really lol 😄 it oozes character and freedom! So now I am going all out to different mediums and colours I'm not overly keen on...
It's so precious, I was asking my muse (invisible cat named blueberry) what she likes. Home is her favorite and since she is like another me I've been noticing all the many things that represent home to me. Balls of yarn, laundry hanging in the sun, plants, ceiling fans, candles, pottery, furniture, animals, textiles and of course, art. I really appreciate your videos and your unique sparkle ✨ Thank you!
Oh that's so funny... thank you so much for your enthusiasm and kind words... the great thing about drawing is that I make the house look any way I want without having to actually do it! x
Thank you a multitude of times. This is a fine example of why we all love your channel so much…you are so generous in imparting your thoughts and for me it is an insight into how an artist thinks. What an exciting head to see inside! I love all your work and look forward to another year of joy from you xxx
WoW Thanks Helen. Lots of fantastic ideas and boldness in colour and shapes. ⭐️💥⭐️I love love love that in your art. It’s such a pleasure to see a new video when it pops up. So thank you. I know how long they must take. 🙏🏾♥️⭐️
Helen, you are such a treasure for me! I am bingewatching your videos , because seeing your work and listening to your thoughts is so freeing and supportive. It really encourages me to play no matter what outcome. And this is probably one of the best ways to discover ones true potential in creating. Thank you so much! I already work , or better play, in the first the little artbook I started in your class. Great fun!
Lovely, I really understand this. We were out of our home as it needed to be rebuilt, and then my Mum became ill and moved in before us - with carers - we had 4 years of not 'belonging' in our home of 30 years. Mum is now in residential care and well looked after there, but OH and I have had the weird experience of now moving back into a home after a massive gap of living in a mobile home in the garden and that - due to the rebuild - doesn't look the same at all. Like you, we have inherited all this stuff from both the Mums! I used to draw bits of rooms while I was looking after Mum and print them off so she could 'colour them in' I am so glad I did.
Hi Again, Helen, I always love to watch these videos!!( I have taken your course also) These inspire me to get back to my sketch book and share these ideas with my students. Thanks so much... keep them coming. Cheers Marti
So beautiful and inspiring. In particular, I enjoyed your sketches of your home, they are fantastic. I also have in inherited various pieces from family ancestors and thought of starting to draw them, you reminded me of that!
Hi Helen I just found your channel and wow love your work and energy and enthusiasm. But I have a question. What make are your sketch books as all mine never seem to hold water and the paper ripples. P. S just binged watch your videos love love love them 😊😊😊
Welcome! Thank you so much for your kind comments. Here is a link to some of the sketchbooks I like… helenwellsartist.com/blog/2022/9/3/sketch-books-filling-them-up-and-my-favourites
Thank you for sharing! I am inspired. Sitting down at the end of a day my mind is ready to get into my sketchbook, but my body is tired. After watching this, I have placed my sketchbook, watercolor pencils and water brushes next to my tv chair. I'm all set to create this evening. I'm a dabbler and try different mediums. Peace.
So enjoyed this video, real inspiration. I have always loved Pots .. some are Ladypots others Menpots. Were your parents artists? Such a feast of colour and shapes. Thank you will be looking out for such an uplift again.
Oh thank you. No my parents weren't artists, they were very interested in art though and my Mum took a modern embroidery course when I was little so the house was filled with creative vibes..xx
Happy New Year, Helen. And to reiterate the comments here, yes, me too - I'm always inspired by your videos. What a fab idea - to look around at the objects in your home and gather up the shapes and use that as a jumping off point. I'm off to an art jam session this afternoon and will be taking my new little concertina sketchbook with me, along with some gathered shapes from my home and see where the process takes me. Thank you again for all your amazing videos.
Fabulous Helen. I really enjoyed your art journal course. It’s reassuring to hear that you have a number of art pieces on the go . I seem to work that way too. Happy New Year.
Love, love, love! Thanks Helen for sharing your beautiful gift. You fill me with excitement of what's possible. Could you please share what brand of metallic paint you use in your sketchbooks. The ones I've tried are so transparent. Keep the inspiration coming!
So glad you are back! I always find your videos interesting! I have been trying so many different mediums. I definitely see how one informs the other! I hope you will share the big project you are working on when it is complete!
Amazing work. I can see any of the pieces in your sketchbook framed and hung on my wall. Do you ever finish a sketchbook page and say to yourself Wow, that is amazing I wish I had done that as a separate piece of art and it wasn't stuck in my sketchbook?
Well that is very generous of you, thank you. Good question too Ronna, but I never ever think that, if I love something I'm just happy that I love it and will take note of what i like so I can do that again...
Happy New Year Helen from me in Australia. You always bring fresh ideas. Your journals are treasures. Love the chats and visual feast. Looking forward to another year and more art adventures. Rachelle XO 💖
I love your videos! They are so inspiring to me! I love your different styles and i think they are so aesthetic. I quite tend to copy your work, but it never looks just a little bit like yours so i‘m doing well? Hahaha I hope you will make many more videos in the future. You are one of the few artists, that really touches something in me.
Thanks Helen for sharing your process. It's encouraging to know it's OK to have lots of Irons in the fire. So inspiring! I am curious to know what sketchbook you used? The one with the mottled cover? I am looking for one without a spiral so I can have a go at throwing a few shapes on a double page. Many thanks 😊
At 13:55 you show one of your home made books, which are so lovely! I'm wondering if you made the book and then painted in it, or did you make the book from a large already made painting? Either way, it's such a lovely book.
Fabulous Helen. I really enjoyed your art journal course. It’s reassuring to hear that you have a number of art pieces on the go . I seem to work that way too. Happy New Year.
