But they gotta allow the game to be a little more physical. If they’re gonna allow them to carry and travel to look more skilled the least they could do is force them to do it against some actual defense. I think that would bring a lot of fans back to the game. I’m not a WNBa fan personally but I’ve been watching a bit more this year..and have watched each of the first 4 finals games so far between the liberty and lynx. I just watched vintage basketball on the free Roku NBA channel, 76ers vs. Knicks, Ewings FIRST game, and the guys worked their asses off. The Knicks pressed the entire game, guys just worked so hard.
Centers back in the day were incredibly athletic, because of their role they were always trying to be first in the paint offensively and defensively. I loved that hustle and Ewing was very good at doing that, some of his highlights include blocking a shot, and joining the transition into offense and dunking the ball.
@@duffman4655 Now you watch a Finals game and JJ Redick says on-air that “it’s not Luka’s responsibility” to get back on defense after Luka does the soft-ass move where you intentionally fall down on a jump shot, then literally sit on your ass on the floor complaining to the ref while the other team flies down the court for a layup.
Great video again @Uncut Hoops!! I absolutely agree with Wemby!! If you watch the games, you can pretty much fill in alot of the names he was talking about.
Yeah but a lot of these kids from this generation have been entitled since they were in diapers. It’s all they know. And most didn’t really work as hard as you probably think. It isn't that Embiid is done with individual accolades and has realised the value of rings, he most likely sees an NBA championship as the most glamorous absence in his personal résumé.
On paper his team was every bit as good as that one if not better. The truth is, Embiid was too soft and lazy to get through the playoffs. Thats why he always plays so much worse. The year Ben Simmons refused to shoot, they still could have won easily but playing 4 quarters of basketbal is beyond his comprehension.
“…’if’ I’d been healthy I’d be in the GOAT conversation…” Argumentum Ad Speculum. The facts are that he shoots in the low-40s eFG% and averages 4.5 TOs/gm to 3 APG in must-win games, whether straight-up elimination, down 0-2 in Game 3s or 1-2 in Game 4s. This is over a 7-yr stretch of playoff action ‘18-‘24. The facts speak for themselves. He’s suffered injuries which is unfortunate and for which one can certainly sympathize. That does not mean that he can say laughably fallacious BS like that and still be taken seriously, though.
@@margarinetaintedgreen8140 His injuries are not unfortunate, he flops so much and so hard while he is to big to jump and fall like that that he injure himself by floping, also he is the dirtiest player in league and the worst MVP playoff performer in history of league! Yeah, it's better than Last Dance! Best documentary about best player (in space jam 2, that is...), no other documentaries will ever be made cause Lebron one is so good, people afraid to create new ones...
I had no clue it came out, and there are hardly any reviews. Not enough to even get a Metascore or Tomatometer, and the handful of critical reviews found it mediocre. When The Last Dance came out, it took the world by storm. That's a microcosm of LBJ: Chasing MJ, coming up short, and moving the goalposts.
I'm just glad even the younger generations of fans is starting to see how bad it has gotten. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for sitting out for legit injuries, but there's a reasonable medium between playing injured and playing with minor pain.
To be accurate, both Embiid and Wembanyama speaks french but the former played in ncaa before nba while the latter played in europe between 2019 and 2023. That means Embiid is closer to the american early 2010's mentality while Wembanyama is closer to the european mentality and share more things with players like Doncic, Jokic or Antetokounmpo.
From the Olympics, it appeared wemby is already better. He had big impact. Interested to watch him this year. Olympics also confirmed again that jokic can play and makes people better. Lebron still chokes late in games, steph can still hit big shots.

Really? Name one time that Roy Hibbert displayed anything close to the ability that Embiid has displayed. If you wanna argue that Embiid wouldn't be a superstar, fine. But he would be Roy Hibbert in the 90s? Stop it. All of a sudden, he would just be big with no actual game just because he plays in the 90s? How does that work?
Embiid got a false MVP because he cried and blubbered about it. Meanwhile champion ironman Tatum gets hate for being corny. This is the media and fanbase we’re dealing with here.
You got the point! The rookies too, before they play a game already millionaire it's.. . But Embiid and Co were really too soft.. The contracts were so big but they do and less and less for it! The NBA now have so much talent but unfortunately in the past the players and the game was more tough. It's even more sad cause I never saw a eara in any league either where you got so much teams with so much amazing players like the western where ten teams were so exciting and could be contender in every other time.
He gets criticism from actual basketball fans but not much from the media. The media as a whole has really stopped criticizing all players in recent years. Now they want to be buddy buddy with the players.
I think guaranteed contract are ruining NBA basketball. Kawhi, Embiid, PG, Harden, Kyrie, Ball Brothers, etc. If you can’t show up, you shouldn’t get paid at all.
MJ mentioned this in 2005 on the Oprah show, it was great insight to how kids now get paid on potential, they get paid millions of dollars on day 1, and according to him it sets a bad work ethic. I loved that interview cause it's been accurate regarding today's NBA
Listen, bro, this isn't 1986, and games played per week is tied to injury. If you have different math on this, bring it out, present it to these billion-dollar businesses and I'm sure they will pay you big bucks for your insights. Fans claim they want to see basketball but you can see that a fun losing team has no one in the seats. While boring winners play in front of sold out audiences. And selling merchandise is tied to deep playoff runs and championships. It's a business not a "game."
So, it wasn't a business in the 1980s? Of course, it was and yet the players still had some pride. Not only were they making lower salaries, but they had worse nutrition and medical care and still played more often, more total games and more minutes per game than the current players.
Wemby has both a perfect mind and frame for basketball. God keep this man healthy, he's chosen to be Wilt come again. I wouldn't be shocked if Wemby actually dropped 100 in a few years. With everyone and their dog scoring 70+ recently it's not unthinkable
Every time this guy has talked about LeBron it is negative. I have yet to see a TH-cam video from this guy’s channel that is saying something positive about LeBron in the title or the thumbnail but every time he talks about Michael Jordan It’s always positive
It's funny watching Embiid struggle against guys like aging Brook Lopez. Him playing in the era where big men like Hakeem, Robinson, Shaq, Mourning, Ewing, Mutombo, etc were all over the league would've been crazy.
The hate is insane. So if a All-star or Superstar player is on a mid team and not have help around him, is he not supposed to ask for help. I have no problem with players asking for help. I would rather complain and ask for help or go to a better team or to a better situation so that I have a chance to win instead of just being with a trash organization that doesn't know how to build a team around me. Players don't wanna be wasting their careers with a trash team at all. I rather go somewhere else
It really is a social media thing. Immediate praise has become a standard (for all ages unfortunately). Now, we are just seeing it manifesting in the pro leagues.
Can't win alone?! You have to be on the court to win, Joel! How can you say that you "need help to win" if YOU aren't not even showing up to play HALF THE GAMES?!
And the defense of Andre Drummond he has a valid point. In passed eras when they valued defense and rebounding we will hold him to a higher standard but because the prototypical big man has been phased out the game he doesn't get the love he deserves
He did make it known in his rookie year and many times he likes soccer and was a soccer player first but then a basketball coach wanted him so he just took it because it was a opportunity for a better life
They say the same about the NFL. But I would contend it is equally as difficult and with the spacing increasing to logo, this big tough NBAs would need to get in better shape overall. That is on them, they didn't care as much about cardio issues when playing 15-20 ft around the rim and making the game generally boring as all get out (e.g. mid-90s Knicks).
When you said me, the first superstar, Jimmy Butler, comes to mind. He cares more about stats in the playoffs. Miami plans to give him the ball and let him go to work.
It's getting harder and harder to watch this sport because of the lack of fundamentals and effort. Victor Wembanyama has a chance to set this NBA ship on a different and better course
This video is nothing but the truth. Most players don't get rid of the ego to win a championship before they pass their primes, and in the end, it's too late.
We live in an era where players get paid $50 million a year, complain about having to take private plans to travel and mark days they want off when the season starts. You had guys like Bill Russell and his teammates traveling by bus all across the country in bad shoes for pennies in comparison trying to play every game. For heavens sake back then they probably had to worry about driving in states were bricks could be thrown at them by guys in white hoods. They might he hetter sthletes today but they have less nerve than any if the "plumbers" they look down on.
I'm sure in his career of playing 98.5 percent of his possible games throughout his entire career, John Stockton was dealing with nagging injuries that he probably could have taken a game off but I bet you those 4 games he missed in 89 and 18 he missed in 97 killed him.

Imagine telling your boss that you are only going to work for 2 and a half hours a night. That you need 3 breaks and also want to sit out and rest for a few minutes on top of that. That you are only going to work 3 to 4 nights a week, and on top of all of that, on nights that you just don't feel like working, you're going to sit out for "load management",
Don’t compare a 9-5 to athletes making millions because they are the attraction. It’s okay to dislike their approach to the game, but don’t ever compare yourself to them.
@@369pendulumgood point. But you also kind of made a separate point without knowing it. There the “attraction” yes. But the numbers have dropped drastically over the last 20 years and continue to drop. So clearly they’re not “attracting” as well as they use to. And it’s because of the stuff we’re talking about.
@@tawithmmk4800 Idk if that’s the reason though. I think the NBA game itself isn’t as entertaining as it used to be with all this damn 3pt shooting. You watch the average NBA game and it’ll be 3mins straight of back n forth chucking 3’s, the stars are the ones making the games bearable. And even though viewership is going down that’s not stopping the NBA from signing these multi-billionaire dollar deals, so clearly these corporations know something that they’re not telling us.
@@369pendulum I blame the fans for that. Young fans don’t know any better I guess so they still buy these expensive tickets (well their parents do anyway ha) and so money still comes in. Not nearly what it could be if they put a better product out on the court…but enough to pay these entitled athletes anyway. Is what it is….unfortunately I don’t see it changing. Hopefully I’m wrong. I always kinda wondered if lebron retires id they’ll start allowing a little more defense to be played again. I’m sure never what it was in the 89s/90’s but I get that that was a little much. And man their defense is far more entertaining. They let them be physical and it’s so. Much better to watch. And they don’t just chuck up 3’s like you said. It’s refreshing. Anyway…if the nba decides to bring some physicality back What a better time to do it then after lebron retires? Fingers crossed

This is why i switched to MLB shohei ohtani is more exciting to watch
Exactly…. Past YT videos > load management prima donnas that do nothing but step backs…

If I was an NBA player, I’d be playing every single game, even preseason. Wouldn’t take the spot for granted.

Yeah but a lot of these kids from this generation have been entitled since they were in diapers. It’s all they know. And most didn’t really work as hard as you probably think. A lot of what gets them to nba is genetics. Just being born athletic freaks. They don’t realize that is Something they should thank god for every day and not waste it…but yet so many do.
after you hear "When it comes to.." , expect pure fire and facts 🔥
It isn't that Embiid is done with individual accolades and has realised the value of rings, he most likely sees an NBA championship as the most glamorous absence in his personal résumé.
Yea he cried and bitched and moaned til he finally got his MVP now he aint worried bout it anymore lol
I don't remember who said this but i completely agree with it

Embiid says he could be in the goat conversation but his team peaked just as high as the jrue holiday, Evan turner, igoudala sixers
Hahaha. He’s a big joke that’s for sure.
“…’if’ I’d been healthy I’d be in the GOAT conversation…”
Argumentum Ad Speculum.

Joel Embiid is Roy Hibbert in the 90's.
Really? Name one time that Roy Hibbert displayed anything close to the ability that Embiid has displayed. If you wanna argue that Embiid wouldn't be a superstar, fine. MJ mentioned this in 2005 on the Oprah show, it was great insight to how kids now get paid on potential, they get paid millions of dollars on day 1, and according to him it sets a bad work ethic. I loved that interview cause it's been accurate regarding today's NBA

If you have different math on this, bring it out, present it to these billion-dollar businesses and I'm sure they will pay you big bucks for your insights. So, it wasn't a business in the 1980s? Of course, it was and yet the players still had some pride. Not only were they making lower salaries, but they had worse nutrition and medical care and still played more often, more total games and more minutes per game than the current players.
John Stockton played from 1988 to 2001 and only missed a total of 22 games in his entire career. And he is not even an outlier.

Micheal Jordan played over 70 games between the ages 38-40 just saying .
It's getting harder and harder to watch this sport because of the lack of fundamentals and effort. Victor Wembanyama has a chance to set this NBA ship on a different and better course
I do have faith the league will be better than it is at the moment. Give er 5 years .
