This video has basically confirmed my suspicions of Justin Thomas, and why I don't really like him or Spieth all that much, he just seems like a guy who has been around Golf all his life, went to college and played Golf and came up through all the right channels, was part of the "in crowd" circle, and nothing malicious at all.... but just kind of.... expected all his life to be a Tour Golfer, and it happened, I can kind of see it on his face, i don't see someone who thinks about the game in great detail, or tries things out, he just follows the textbook mechanics his coaches tell him.... I can't quite explain it..... he's been too comfortable, and I just don't think there's the hunger or, frankly, the talent to be a real great, but just a good, above average top 30 tour player, just my honest opinion though.
@@ltjjenkins I don't think necessarily you have to come up a bit rough or facing adversity to be a great, but there is a mentality that comes with facing adversity, and I just don't think Justin Thomas has ever faced that yet.
A common theme for JT and Spieth, is they were never the same after getting married and having kids. There is a level of competitiveness and drive you have to be the best of the best. Being a husband and/or dad with more than enough money to live off the rest of your life leads to a level of complacency. It's why I think Matt Kuchar never became what he should have become. Comfortable life without having to put in a ton of work. This dude just completely blew off this point with a "Well I don't know about that". GREAT response, meanwhile facts say otherwise.
@@andrewbrockman3948 We'll see. Historical data says he will, It even happened with Tiger, but Tiger changing his swing three times during the prime of his golf career was also a MAJOR factor
@RoluGolf I think Brooks or his coach was quoted as saying, “the best trait is that people never compared him to Tiger.” Feels like once you start getting the “the only other person to achieve x was Tiger…” is when the snowball begins to pick up speed. Which is a shame because those guys are all amazing.
@@jeffhan9098 yea winning 10+ majors and 80+ pga tour wins is a very tall order. to dominate for a whole entire decade is an even steeper mountain to climb. it just goes to show u the golfer tiger was.
People forget that with the era of Tiger came the era of workout freaks and guys that ONLY played golf….kids that grew up watching Tiger came to the tour in the 2010s….with that influx of talent came the lack of dominant play like we saw from Tiger and even early Rory. JT and even Spieth are surrounded by guys that are certified killers (Scottie, Bryson, Xander, etc)
Great video very interesting. You hit on a point which I’ve been talking about for awhile in the fact that in the early days when Nicholas and Palmer ruled the game, golf was an elite sport was very difficult to get into mainly because of money and class. So there wasn’t the wide spectrum of golf talent around that there is nowadays. So putting that into perspective, how good in comparison was the likes of Nicklaus and Palmer compared to many of today’s top players. I think it would make a really interesting video
It definitely would be interesting, but it’s very hard to quantify. Maybe looking at the accuracy or iron shots or put make % could give us an idea, but then you have the problem of the lack of stats on those old rounds. However, this is why I say Tiger is better than JN.
The biggest outlier for him is how exceptional he is in the Ryder cup. A guy who has such a weird mentality and fluctuates so hard seems to thrive under that pressure and atmosphere
So he hasn’t won in 800 days. If you don’t know how hard it was to win on tour at any time in the past and now with all new talent and all the new equipment.. he’s still there making checks, if he fell off and quit playing then sure but he’s still there. And I don’t like the dude
Huh so that is the reason he Failed 😅. He lost his deal with Ralph Lauren Over the Homophobic Uttering and The Tour Made him take Sensitivity Classes and have a Press conference to Apologize. If The content creators didn't realize that incident and It's Aftermath created the Current Justin Thomas then he isn't paying attention. That Press conference Destroyed Him you could See it in his face. Check out the Time line 👍
Video is titled “what happened ..” and you never answer the question. What a waste of time. Wish these TH-camrs would quit posting gotcha titles. Everyone knows his play has declined and he’s inconsistent like most golfers. Thanks for the incredible insight you provided genius.

If you don’t have that dog in you mentally as a golfer, early success is one of the worst things for your career imo.

Yeah the greats either have an insane mentality or come up a bit rough or slighted.

You gay as hell for putting that much thought into another dude’s life who doesn’t even know you exist
You gotta feel for him though. Golf slumps are brutal and can completely shatter your spirit. I hope he bounces back.
I was waiting for this Video after the Spieth one.
Me too.

What about Scottie? I mean, he did win like 4 or 5 tournaments before their kid was born. But do you think he’ll fall off next season?
@@andrewbrockman3948 We'll see. Historical data says he will, It even happened with Tiger, but Tiger changing his swing three times during the prime of his golf career was also a MAJOR factor
I’ll start talking sh!t when I win a major
JT has all the talent and skill you could want. But the mental aspect of golf is the great equalizer
It's really the biggest problem for all the guys that were at the top in the 2010s. JT, Jordan, Rory, DJ...

He’s still my fav he’s the goat idc
loved this video & JT!!
4:15 man that would be a shitty year for tiger

Did you watch last year?
I really like Thomas and I legit feel like he gets into his own head way to much. Like Spieth its a shame how he never fulfilled his true potential.
He is very likeable. Seems like a fun guy to play a round and talk trash with
My man got a sponsor! Congratulations!

Still, somehow "J Twizzle" made the Ryder Cup team, I wonder why...

Fun fact: I became a fan of his when he called himself/his ball an F Slur

Hopefully he's not put on the Ryder Cup squad out of pity or because his friends captain. Such BS that he was on the last team. Dude flat out stinks.
Every single Captain's pick was dreadful: I'm convinced that Zach Johnson has no clue what match play even is.
Who cares, I'm sick of hearing his name!!!
First person
I respect the commitment my guy

Great video! I wonder if he is kicking himself for not joining the LIV tour and cashing in on that fat payday without the pressure of having to win
