- Dekalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK) is a medium-sized, primarily general aviation airport located fifteen miles north, northeast of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International. There is a robust helicopter community, providing tours of the city, daily traffic watch reports, and primary helicopter flight instruction. The diverse nature of pilot experience and aircraft performance make PDK a challenge for both controllers and pilots. This video shares runway configuration details and prepares pilots for hot spots and common issues at PDK.

Had my first solo at this airport. My instructor said that if you learn to fly at this airport you can fly into any airport. Great video as always.

I did all my training here, though not my first solo. I agree. The place is a zoo, and I love it! I could do without the 15 minutes sitting #7 in line, but aside from that, it's fun!

Busiest general aviation airport in the southeast. If you learn to fly here, you should be able to fly anywhere. Great place to learn..got my private here back in 1999...great memories..
if you can fly in and out of here, you can fly anywhere is what I tell my students (except maybe Alaskan or mountainous regions). PDK definitely builds your radio and situational skills fast!
I live near there but I never fly near there for this exact reason AND FAA rules of course!
The high elevation radio towers on the West/Southwest side makes the airport make it a bit tricky as well…
Don't forget the towers somewhat nearby, and greater emphasis should be given to the difficulty to see at night and the base to final traffic conflicts in 3L and 3R, DO NOT OVERSHOOT FINAL!!!
The FAA needs to be fired for ruining the RC model airplane industry. They think everything is a drone. Complete incompetence. Their rules look like something the Nazis or the Soviets came up with but both the Nazis and the Soviets encouraged model airplane flying. I have been flying RC planes for 48 years and I can say there was absolutely no need to attack this hobby like that.
