I bought one as a stop gap so I could get some work done till I figure out what I really need, It works moderately well on my delta cabinet saw after sealing all the gaps and opening on the cabinet but for me the real down side is what you touched on and that being the filter/collection bag, it blows fine dust past the bag and fills the shop with the stuff you don't want in your lungs, I put it outside and that helped that problem but it's not a great solution with winter coming. I researched the pleated filter and bag or barrel options but decided to go with a Jet 1hp unit with the 1 micron filter on it, waiting for that to be delivered

Sounds like a good plan. I thought maybe hanging such a filter on the Central Machinery unit, but in the end it might just be cheaper to go your way. Be safe.

I have one of this dust collectors. But I build a 4x8 table behind my saw. Then I put 3 walls to close the table in to a dust box. The last wall I closed with a framed canvas. That's my filter. I connected the dust collector from the saw to the table/box. The table helps when cutting big pieces and the box collects all the dust. I used it for 15 years and the same dust collector still works as a champ! Juan.

That's a great idea and along the lines I was thinking. I'm glad it works. Thanks for the info. Be safe.

@@Original_Old_Farmer hi! Just to improve... now I'm building a new one: the idea is to have the blower at the end like a shop vacuum but much bigger. This time I will build the 4'x8' base with four walls with plywood first. At one 4' side a pipe from the saw to the top of the wall. At one 8' side one hinged door for cleaning. Then the top will be a 2"x6" hollow frame with the fabric for the filter on the bottom side of the frame and a 3/4" plywood with gray Willson art laminate on the top. I will secure and caulk the top to the walls and caulk the walls to the floor. To finish it I will cut a round hole at the top frame to put the vacuum pipe from the top frame to the blower and connect the blower cable with the saw switch. This will make the work much simpler. With this configuration the dust is collected before the blower. This will extend the life of the machine and never get clogged. I already build one for my chop saw and works wonderful.

@@juancuevas8575 As long as you can keep the air flow up. It's a good idea. How good would it be for sucking up elected officials? I think we have a few too many floating around.

Thanks for a good review of this. I'm seriously thinking of adding something like this, but with a lower micron filter ~ (1 or lower).

You could get a one micron filter that will work. The only concern would there be enough air flow to work with a better filter. I was thinking the same thing along with a chip catcher on the front end. Be safe.

@@Original_Old_Farmer agreed! I was thinking of something along those lines. Thanks!

Hi Scot! I had this very same dust collector from HFT. I ended up getting a Dust Cop and it did very well and separated the dust from the chips very well. Have a very Happy New Year 2023 and stay safe and keep postin your videos. Your subscribers are growing nicely,

Good to hear from you. I hope all is well. May you remember New Year's Eve. That my blessing to everyone. For me I may have a soda. I agree about the dust collector. I've had for about two years and finally hooked it up. At the worst, with 10 feet of hose I can stick outside and close the door. Be safe my friend.

Hey pops I wish you could get someone to install that dust collection system on a wall with a catchment to hold the dust

Actually I have a spot under the miter station for it to sit. I just got the hose in right before doing the video. I've been thinking of getting chip collector for the front of the unit. I just haven't cut things to length yet. Be safe.

I figure I would need a one micron dust bag for safely sucking up drywall dust

    • @Original_Old_Farmer

If you do use a one micron, I would have a sawdust collector in front to catch the bigger stuff, otherwise your bag may get clogged. Good comment. Be safe.

Just remember it's a canvas bag. Maybe duct it outside if you can to get rid of the micro dust. Be safe.
