Thank you for posting this. And filming up close on some of those details. Means a lot to me because i live on a different continent and don't get to se Heather's work in person :)
Thank you so much for your response. It's support like yours that keeps the Artful Hare moving! I'll be sure to report on Heather's work in the future!
Hi, thankyou for posting this virtual tour. I've seen videos of Heather working in her studio and outdoors also. Her work is experimental and yet quite edited, I believe. She has a natural eye for composition and I can imagine that those transparencies are interesting when you're up close and personal. Thanks for the virtual tour! I really liked your slow pace and how you spent a few moments with some artworks. I got to check it out nicely (although I'd probably park myself for 5 mins in one spot, haha). I look forward to her art evolving too, but if she wants to spend her days playing the same way, that's fine too.
Being an abstract artist I know it is difficult and involves a lot of hard work. People who think it is easy should try painting something abstract of their own just to try.
@Bruce French oh you're genius. What are you doing here watching abstract paintings talking to people who paint abstract. Don't waste your precious time do something important ☺️
@Bruce French you think realistic has meaning. I have done it, it feels like copying things so I switched to abstract which is lot more creative but it's a language not everybody can understand.
All painting is an abstraction. There are countless talented people who range from stunningly real to very abstract but argueing which is valid is the wrong question. Realism can be learned as a process to achieve a level of satisfying realism. Even then it can be subjective as you see perfect chrome fenders or glossy eyeballs and becomes a bit of a magic act. There are artists like Jenny Saville whose work is more abstracted but also has an undeniably realism. Sculpture is predominantly very abstract and yet receives mush less criticism for not being "realistic". The intention, the process and feeling behind the art is what gives the piece value. Mondrian and Rothko don't paint realistically. Realism is one form of art but art is not a form of realism. Cartoons are an abstraction. Science fiction is an abstraction. Pixelation is a form of abstraction but at the correct distance it is "real". Photography typically looks real whether it is good or amateur photography but it is the image amd the composition that really counts. Musical instruments don't generally try to imitate natural sounds. Is a gruff blues singer less good than an opera singer? Unfortunately there is an almost endless supply of ugly mass produced abstract art that should go straight to a dumpster fire. Saying I can do that is like saying because you own some shop tools you are capable of making beautiful well crafted furniture. In art just make your mark. It is as unique as you are. So make it for you and be true to that. If you aspire to a certain style follow that. There are people who can recite perfectly a famous piece of music but have never written a single composition of note themselves even though they maybe a technically better player they lack the character of the original composer. You don't have to be intellectual to appreciate any art but you need absolutely no intelligence to disregard it.
I love when children, without any constraints produce a sort of art that captures the eyes. I for sure like this one because I feel like I'm viewning childrens work. Now, is this a well thought out, thought provoking artwork? No! Very easy work that could be done by anyone who isn't invested in creating any sort of meaning. Eye cathing? Yes. Thought provoking, or amazing? No.

@Bruce French not everything can make sense to everyone. You surly are at wrong place and feeling lost.
@Bruce French just because you don't have the intellect to understand abstract art does not mean you have to look down on others that do :)

Agree. Looks like it’s made to be bought by middle aged white women. Especially the way it’s framed :((
