How great tesla is, is erelavent. Its the game of playing the roller coaster ride. Once you take a ride you know how the ups and downs go so you can go with the flow buying and selling regardless of good or bad news.
Shouldn't many megapacks that were sold in Q1 and Q2 finally be accounted for in Q3? As I understand it, revenue doesn't hit the bottom line until they are installed and running, which in larger arrays could easily take a quarter or 2.

Q2 was a 10% beat on both the bottom and top line estimates and the stock was destroyed.
Always interesting, and the same natural confusion we share with more emphasis +/- according to what our orientation to the view of Tesla.
The fact of constant review on the job of interweaving all the lines of development means a "Coat of many Colors" covers the trends, and it's no surprise that they produce frequent abrupt accumulations of change as the different threads reintegrate (?).

Yep, as I listened to him talk about Tesla surprising with better than expected results I was thinking "I wonder how much the stock will drop when they do?"
Seeing more M3 in my area driven by a younger demographic due to lower M3 prices I believe. Red is also more popular now so people are paying up for that color. All good signs.
I've noticed a drop in EV advertising from legacy, I think they're trying to reduce EV demand - it's good for them as they all have 90%+ ICE for sale.
Wall Street doesn't listen. Correct, Elon did say some factory lines would be shut down for M3 upgrade but Tesla also maintained their exact same 1.8m delivery target for 2023
I’m sure the model 3 line upgrade will be faster than before, they should catch up in no time, the demand for the model 3 will be higher too, hopefully
With all of the improvements on the model three I find it strange that people only want to talk about the elimination of the stalk. People who have reviewed the card do not find it to be detrimental.
Raised by hippies in the woods or something? Yeah, the media are servants of Big Oil and Detroit, and they will emphasize any possible negative they can find when the news is actually super positive for Tesla. This trend has only persisted strongly these last fifteen plus years of Tesla production, so only like 150,000 super biased articles so far, I see how one could miss it.
People are resistant to UI change - how long did washing machines retain the rotary wheel interface (which came from a mechanical timer)? It was long after they stopped using clockwork, even now some manufacturers still have it for no other reason than familiarity.

@@bluetoad2668ya, but those rotary knows last forever, and so easy to change. Still have them on both machines. Electronics now can last as long, but thats not what they are putting in them. Crap Electronics that fail far more oftain. Rotary swith going on 27 years never replaced no issues. It's not always about change 😊
Berlin had an electric motor factory a year before it got equipment. It then got a cell factory building but equipment was sent to Austin.
Tesla can build a Mexico factory building in a rational cheap manner than rapidly install equipment when proven in Austin.
The switch to M2 production Austin and the rapid capacity expansion at Austin in terms of building services should mean a rapid ramp of M2 and CT next year.
Austin has been down for two weeks, surely Juniper is underway. One would think upgrades will be quick after the first of each.

Yes but the present M3 is 38k out of inventory in some places. That’s cheap and will move metal.
No Osborning. No Model 3s available for sale in Nova Scotia.
At this time, I don't see it as an issue, unless it comes out cheaper than current model 3

HI’d welcome your thoughts on whether you think Tesla can be anywhere near the average 50% growth target in 2024, if 2023 does round out at circa 1.8 to 2 million vehicles?
Maybe the reason Berlin and Austin aren’t ramping during 2023, apart from battery availability, is also a tactical move, so that Tesla has some additional capacity it can call upon next year without having to complete another factory?
1 Tesla solves FSD (eventually).
2 FSD is safer than people driving.
3 Insurance is cheaper for cars using FSD
3A Tesla starts selling insurance in earnest.
3B Rivers of gold for Tesla.
4 Other car companies start selling less cars because only Tesla FSD works.
5 FSD is licensed to all the other car companies.
6 Tesla FSD is used in ALL the cars in the world !

I just think the licensing happens a lot later than most are assuming. Tesla will use the same hardware chips for robo taxis and for Optimus, and demand for Optimus could easily be fifty million or more a year. So I just don't see Tesla having extra hardware chips to ship to other automakers for a long time.

Tesla is succeeding in the face of massive EV resistance by the establishment players and their government allies. Look at this rediculous stunt by Jennifer Granholm to make EVs look bad by using non Tesla EVs and their inferior chargers.

How many times have I posted here that the stock market is irrational short term and Tesla stock is highly volatile? Now you begin to agree. You still get depressed when it goes down and happy when it goes up, and this is pointless, like being sad when the wave goes out and happy when the next comes in. The point is that you know the Tesla tide, nay, Tesla tsunami, is on its way, right? Does it matter if the tsunami takes seven years or ten? If you are my age, I guess, but you are younger.
I have all of my inheritance in Tesla stock and I was down 50% end of last year, and now I am even, and I don't care either way, I am sitting on the beach watching the stock market waves go in and out, and it is relaxing. The tsunami is coming.

Teslas advances in manufacturing just seem to be this huge untold story, I don’t get it… let’s not underestimate the impact of the CFO change announcement, that hurt the stock.

Quarterly surprises are Tesla’s priority. Short term ‘disappointments’ for long term growth, hmmmm - not so much.

Tesla stock price doesn’t make sense because of market manipulation. I’m sure large fund managers may be dumping stock to suppress up swings, especially those short the stock
why dont the chineses EV companies advertise? i have not seen one in the U.S, i dont watch tv, just you tube. are they in europe? when do they hit the U.S? seems there would be a "coming soon " type of advertising.
i sorta buy why tesla does not, but I may be not understanding it all for certain,but in general 4D chess is not my game lol. ( demand goes up, prices go up, affordibility goes down, volume cant be sustained and market share is lost to chinese, more ice vehicles get bought who become cheaper, less data collected for FSD) tesla seems so disiplined to not reach for low hanging fruit in favor of long term dominance. not many CEOs have this ability or tough skin to run a comany in this manner.
Hi Lee and everyone. Pls give me advice. According to my estimates, the tax I will pay around $5000 for 2023 tax. I plan to buy a Model Y in a few months. When I buy a Model Y, $7500 of federal tax will be deducted from the $5000 of my 2023 estimated tax and I will not have to pay taxes. But can I deduct the remaining $2500 of the federal tax from the 2024 year's tax or do I not have the right to deduct it? Or can I pay a 7500$ rebate next year from my 2024 tax?

No, the credit can only be applied to current year. You will lose $2500. In 2024, the tax credit will be subtracted directly from the price at point of sale, so your income will be irrelevant. Just wait until January to buy.

The only surprise is not 'if' but 'when.' Over the weekend I was belt tightening and thinking that it'll be a couple more slack years.... Of course it still could be.
When I think of insider trading. There's the skeezy stuff (illegal but no one ever gets caught), and then there's what we do: We see what so many others have missed. In life this really isn't that unusual. Doing it with large sums of money is where it really stands out.
Warren Buffett and Charlie Mungar are both just a couple of nerds. I'd love to see a split screen video where on one side Charlie and Warren are yammering on about billions of dollars and on the other side two unemployable high school drop Lord of the Rings fanatics are yammering on about Elves and Orks. It'll be exactly the same thing, but with a few very important differences.
Energy will be massive, but it's lumpy. When can you actually book the value, its unclear.
