  • Let's say you're a new snowmobiler and are looking for something to keep you warm outside. Hunting or outdoor work gear might look like a good choice, or even ice fishing gear... right? Wrong! In this video, I'll explain what you need to stay warm and safe.
Snowmobile gear is unique, because it provides extreme wind protection. Ice fishing and hunting gear can be very warm, as long as you're not moving. Watch the entire video, and I'll share some of my experiences and recommendations.

Rode atvs for 44 years just got my first sled a 2006 arctic cat z570lx, so this is all new to me, all my gear is sub par so I started with a helmet ski doo exome sport, this gear is expensive so I'll have to go piece by piece, thanks for the info

That’s what I did. I had gear that was warm for ice fishing, but the wind goes right through it when snowmobiling! I had to buy a few pieces at a time and now I stay toastie. The one thing I haven’t quite figured out is my hands, and it looks like heated gloves are the ticket. Unfortunately, the ones I’ve looked at are really expensive, so maybe next year. I looked at the Exome in a recent video and liked it. The breath box might make some people claustrophobic but the shield shouldn’t fog up on you - BRP makes good helmets.
Have fun this year on the new sled! It’s a great way to stay active in the winter!

@@ponycarfan did you get to take any video or do you have any details about the new sleds?!

@@Eighty8Fitter Yes to both. I'm trying to figure out how to share the information. As far as video, I can't release that until after the new models have been announced, because it would reveal things that Cat doesn't want leaked to the public. I got to trail ride both the new Riot and several ZR's and compare them to ProCross equivalents, which was really cool. Maybe the best thing for me to do is make a video in the next few days using still photos that were approved for release by Cat. What are your thoughts on that?

@@ponycarfan that would be awesome. How does it compare to the pro cross chassis? A lot different? I’m almost contemplating waiting for 2024 for the new engine to preorder a sled!

@@Eighty8Fitter I really want to share answers to these kinds of question, but want to give it more detail. If you ride a ProCross, you're going to be very impressed with the Catalyst. The difference between the two is incredible. The 600 has been redesigned, but makes roughly the same power as the 2023. Since the sled is much lighter, the 600 feels like it has more power. The Cat people are very excited about the 2025 big bore - they say it will be worth the wait. I'll start working on a video.
