    only one remark, the crane can be fatal, if the wall/object isn't high enough, so you won't hit it with your leg, which should absorb the impact, but the ground and your forward momentum is still there (depends on how fast you were)-> crash against the object. Yeah, you mentioned the purpose for it, for a safe landing between gaps, but otherwise is the block/bouncing technique much better/safer.
    A tutorial about kong vault :'D
    but not for beginners, more like about the small technical techniques that makes the difference.

    • @Phatofficial
      @Phatofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ll give it some thought but in the meantime, upwards pres are perfect to practice the correct technique. You feet have to roll over the edge and catch it by curling your toes over the corner. Good landing technique is something that takes years to master

      These types of jumps are always more challenging to commit to but yeah as long as you’re confident in your skill and when you look at the jump you see it and can feel you’ve got it, better to aim for a controlled overshoot on first attempt

    • @shellingf
      @shellingf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they didn't mentioned it directly, but indirect, with the progress of the techniques. start near to the wall and than go further away, you will get used to it, it just takes time and many small steps.
      Search similar spots, it helps too, to make the jump in different environments.

  • @TimH86
    @TimH86 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    @phat: I’m interested to know if you have trained/progressed through just practicing parkour movements, or did/do you also put time in mobility/stretching and strength training? I’ve noticed that e.g. a crane is difficult for beginners who can’t stretch their legs all the way and who are just really stiff. And some have a lack of strength in the lower legs and get ankle thing easily.

    • @TimH86
      @TimH86 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To clarify, I just train by myself these days and don’t really know how much people are still doing this kind of additional training anymore. I don’t see it featured or mentioned in videos from different teams, so my guess is that the whole ‘conditioning’ thing that was going on in the past, is not popular anymore?

    • @Phatofficial
      @Phatofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes our main training consists of just parkour movements and the type of conditioning we do can involve climb up repetitions and maxing standing pres. also stretching here and there and sitting in squat for ankle mobility

    • @TimH86
      @TimH86 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TEAM PHAT Thanks for the answer! I think that almost throws off the whole idea of supplementary training. The kind of conditioning work that people used to do in parkour, how useful is that if ‘conditioning through movement’ can go so far already? You might be able to squeeze out some more pre distance or climb speed if you do weightlifting, etc - but its almost more like specialized training to become good at just a small part of parkour.
      I used to be in the camp of ‘everyone needs to do conditioning/lifts otherwise you can’t do high level parkour’. It may help, but as king around taught me that most current high level athletes never dit much weight training, just movements mostly. Super interesting :) and also, how much more fun is it to just train parkour and progress that way!

    • @Phatofficial
      @Phatofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim Hirschler for sure if it definitely helps a lot of high level athletes condition such as Ed Scott and Callum Powell it’s just my preference 😊 I’d prefer not to be sore from conditioning so I can train at higher level during my sessions

    Idk why whenever I try to jump and be precise with the foot placement, normally I don't land in my tiptoe, but with the arch, and yeah, thats bad, already got injured once because of it. How would u recommend to get into tiptoe landing???

    • @Phatofficial
      @Phatofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a practice and repetition thing it just takes practice and practice, every jump you make just keep repeating it until you have a landing that you’re happy with, focusing on foot placement it’ll improve!

    Mehhh this is kinda baffling. If a jump is too big and someone knows they won't make it, it's probably not best advice that they try go for it. Cranes and splats are pretty natural if someone going for a running pre can't get both feet to the top of a wall, so there'll never be a time where someone will have their hips above the top of the wall and splat with their feet low, they could just waistcat. Unless it's for a run to take a height drop, practicing running pre's is probably better than splats. Beyond that though, a bounce off/splat to cat is pretty crucial to learn, especially if you're going for a big running pre up with a drop. Cool jumps though 👍🏾

    • @Phatofficial
      @Phatofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s what I done when I was starting out and it worked for me, I specifically drilled this stuff and it definitely helped. But I get what you’re saying it’s just that from the perspective of a beginner they might not be aware they can be short of a running pre safely this tutorial is mainly to put it out there what the techniques are and if you have practice it doesn’t matter if you don’t make the jump
