I’m in Staffordshire UK, don’t see this around. Looks good. On the Guinness draught anyway so cheers my friends.

The distribution, or lack there of, that this beer gets is so strange. Cheers Jim!

When I grew up in Dublin in the 70s/80s we had 3 choices...Guinness/ Harp/ Smithwicks...I emigrated....!!!

One of my favorites. Had it for the first time in Syracuse NY feel in love with it. If you can get a proper poor on tap it’s amazing. Heading to Ireland in August excited to check out the distillery.

That’s amazing that you’ll be able to make it to the brewery in Kilkenny!! If you appreciate smithwicks on tap, you’ll love trying Guinness. If you can find someone serving Kilkenny beer too, definitely give that a try

Wow, I can’t be the only one who notices a slight resemblance of the monk at 2:34 to one of our beloved hosts. We know Ale has been dabbling in beer wizardry with his beer palantir, but this is the first time it’s been revealed that Joe moonlights as a beer wizard.

    • @BeerBrackets

As Ale said… the deeper you dig… the more connections you find to the wizards.

I would love to see you guys do a "bad beer" review. Take something like keystone light or Milwaukee's best, or bud select 55, and rate what some people consider the worst beers!

    • @BeerBrackets
      @BeerBrackets  ปีที่แล้ว

I would love to do this! The only problem is I don’t get a lot of those in Canada but I’m
sure we could find a few.

@@BeerBracketsIt is an ok beer but I prefer Sullivan’s red ale to Smithwicks red and Sullivans is the actual Smithwick beer.
Smithwick’s is actually from 1829 but their specialty was a golden coloured bitter and they were bought out in 1965 and their bitter was discontinued in favour of a darker sweeter less hopped beer. An interesting note is that Smithwick’s and then Guinness had access to the brewing books of Perry’s who brewed two mild ales until the 1950’s. When you think of it mild ale is a brewing philosophy of more sweeter malt than hops, golden colour to black, 2.8 percent to 7 percent and 10 IBU to 32 IBU. There actually was a Kilkenny brewery called Sullivan’s in 1702 founded by Dan Sullivan.

Happy St. Patrick's Day fellas! 🍻 I haven't tried Smithwick's Red Ale yet but I might have to pick some up tomorrow (if I can find them!) BTW, I love the Super Mario sounds effects. Brings back great memories! Until I get my hands on some Smithwick's Red Ale I'll be drinkin' Guinness Draught! Another great video, gentlemen!

Thanks for watching! If you can find some smithwicks it’s definitely worth a try this time of year. Get festive with it. Can’t go wrong with Draught, will be having a few of those this weekend for sure. Cheers!

here in Ireland it is now 3.8% abv :(

Oh wow! So it’s even lighter there now then. That’s dangerous though, must go down like water.

Sullivans red is better more of a taste and aroma, better mouthfeel and finish and it is 5 percent abv to boot.

    Left wanting more?
Pint of special: Smithwicks with a Guinness head
Smithwicks out of a can is the worst tbf, pint bottles are lovely and pints are easily top.

It is definitely a much better experience on tap! No doubt
