- Video #382: In this video I talk about 15 places where you can buy polymer clay, both in retail stores as well as online. And so that you don't have to write them all down, there is a handy link to a single resource page that makes it easy for you to click through to the various web sites.
Believe it or not, even with an awesome search tool like Google, one of the most common questions I get is from beginners asking where to buy their polymer clay. So hopefully today's video will be helpful for you.
And if I have missed mentioning your favorite polymer clay shopping spot, be sure to add it into the comments section below.
Brought to you by Cindy Lietz, Polymer Clay Tutor. There's lots more polymer clay tips and ideas over at my blog. If you are interested, here is the direct link: www.beadsandbea...

I'm in Saskatoon and you've inspired me. I recently went shopping at Michael's and bought my first clay. Then I looked for your video. keep on claying !!
This helped a TON! Especially since I also live in Canada (ON) then it gives an accurate and dependable source of information in relation to where I could, as a Canadian, buy polymer clay. So yes thank you so much for the awesome tips! Will deffinetly keep this in mind :D Also the only place I have purchased from (since I'm just starting out) is Michaels, but yes they are CRAZY expensive (almost $4 for a little 2oz block!) So it's great to hear these tips :)
Hi paigelovesag, I have bought some large lots of polymer clay on eBay, but I don't risk it anymore. You never know what you're going to get. So for me it is not worth it. But if you have a very limited budget and you trust the seller, you can get some pretty good deals. So it's up to you whether it is worth the risk or not.
Hi krisinstylez, as far as I know, Walmart in Canada does not carry polymer clay. Don't know about the States though.
Hi sarah johnson - there are links and comments to UK polymer clay suppliers over at my PolymerClayTutor blog - just type "UK" or "uk polymer clay" into the search box.
If I had only seen this video before I bought all that clay from Amazon.
I'm in the UK so I'm now drooling over the prices for Premo at 'Clay Around' thanks for that list, Cindy.
this was so informative and helpful ♡ thank you so much!
The Walmart in Azle, TX (just west of Fort Worth) has polymer clay. BUT you have to be careful only the White(premo) is oven bake, all the color(premo) is no bake.
In Québec we also have Omer De Serre, which carries Sculpey and Fimo. They have an online store and do ship to other Canadian provinces and territories :)
Another awesome video Cindy! We have two Michaels & two Joann's here in Anchorage. One of the Joann's is HUGEt and their clay area is really expansive! They also have also coupons daily via e-mail for 40 or 50 percent out and you can buy one item w/a printed out coupon, then pull up your iphone for another coupon, and lastly~ you can use the coupons they have at the door when you enter! What I like about them is that don't care how many coupons you use! :0) Online I use Blick.. :D
Michael's for the win :) I jump between Michael's (mostly), Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann Fabrics. All are within a short distance of me. The best is Michael's because they actually carry the larger blocks in Premo!. Hobby Lobby does carry Kato, but I don't use that as often.
Just found you. Thank you for all the great info on polymer clay. You are so perky it is great watching you. I hope you continue teaching us how to have fun with polymer clay. Do some clays harden more than others.
Thank you so helpful! A lot of these stores are near me!
I do have a craft store in my area that has fimo clay - soft, classic and professional.
But I have recently started ordering online if I need more than one or two packs. The craft store unfortunately doesn't have such regular sales and a pack of the normal sized fimo (professional has much larger packs) is about 3€, while I get it for about 1.59€ on ebay. It just saves me a lot of money that way.
I do occasionally still get single packs if I need one colour quickly, but in general online has become my choice.
If you catch it on time, michaels has a best deal sale where i bought my clay for as low as $0.50 each. This sale included premo, sculpey, and craft smart brands. I live in the u.s.
I'm from Austria (Europe) and buy it at Bösner, its a big crafting store.
I also went to Japan/Tokyo this year and did some research because I wanted to buy crafting materials... so I can recomend Tokyu hands, which is a big crafting chain of stores in Japan with great stuff (clay, resin, stamps... crazy japan craft things) . :)
Buenas noches. Soy de Puerto Rico. Necesito saber si sabe de alguna tienda en especifico que haga envios. Y usted vende el producto de arcilla?
I work at a Michael's, so I buy mine there. Recently they changed our employee benefits, to where our discount also works on sale merchandise (YAY!!) Started watching your videos because I need to soften my (old) clay. Even with my discount I cant afford new til income taxes ;) LOVE your videos!
Thanks for your wonderful, informational videos! I usually buy my clay from Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Joanns, I've never bought it online because I worry it might be old. I have been using Sculpey 3, but I was wondering, why is primo your favorite brand? And what are the different specialities for each type of polymer clay? Are some brands better for beads and others better for sculpting bigger items?
Exactly, if you live in a hot climate or the clay will be traveling through a hot climate, ordering should only be done in Spring or Fall so the clay doesn't partially bake on the way to you. I'm not sure about ordering in extreme cold.
Thanks for the upload, Where to buy online polymer clay in uk? Awaiting your kind reply.
I'm in Yellowknife right now, but moving to Saskatoon. It looks like there is a Michaels there, and a huge walmart (culture shock time for me). I find that Michaels doesn't put prices on their site, so can't do some budgeting.
Hi natalie valentine, I have filmed a video showing how to store polymer clay in the drawers you are speaking of. It will be posted soon. Make sure to subscribe to my channel so that you don't miss it. Thanks for commenting!
In Spain, go to the craft section of "el corte ingles"
Venden FIMO en "el corte ingles"
Si
Hi Jennifer, if you are referring to me, I actually live in Canada... in the Vancouver area where the Olympics were a couple years ago. I see you live in Australia. Are you heading into winter there? If you plan to order clay from the US, you'll want to do that very soon, before it gets too hot there. Thanks for commenting!
In the UK you buy it from The Range or Hobbycraft
I don't have a Michael's near me, but Dick Blick often has terrific sales on Premo and I can order online. Great resource list! :)
Yes I store my clay in a unit that has 60 small drawers. Ill being doing a video soon all about how I store my clay, so make sure to subscribe so you don't miss it.
do u recommend polymer clay express also am bout to buy mostly fimo or do u recommendi try all first? adn see wat clay i like?
Hi ahmed awaad Yes to all your questions.
I like buying my clay in 1 pound bars from Boston Craftworks. They are wonderful people to deal with, the price is really great and I always get very fresh clay. Since I live in Arizona I don't order clay in the summer because we never know how long it might sit on a truck in the 110 degree heat.
Thank you everyone for adding your favorite places to buy clay on the list! Also, just so you know, on Monday there will be a new video with excellent tips on Buying Polymer Clay that contains lots of helpful tips! Make sure to subscribe if you haven't yet. You don't want to miss it!
Why did you stop making videos?
Here in Ohio Walmart has basic colors for 97 cents but you have to go on line or to craft stores to find anything fancy and then it's around 3 dollars give it take some change
In malaysia you also have artfriend in the curve and midvalley
Michael's has a coupon for 40% (or 50%) off one regular-priced item every week. You can print out the coupon from their website or load it onto your phone from their app and have them scan it at the checkout. I never buy anything from Michael's without that coupon. It's only good for one item so if you need more than one you have to either come back with another coupon or have someone go with you and pay separately. You can almost buy an unlimited quantity at a heavily discounted price if you don't mind the trouble.
Walmart carries sculpey lll and air dry crayola clay. My favorite place is micheals hobby lobby is cheaper but has half the colors.
some said fimo does britle and weak after baking is this real or do i have to bake for one hour as u said?
DeSerres is who I deal with. But I work with mostly oil based clay. Looking to branch out.
I buy it from crafty arts ( it's online ) they sell sculpey for £1.55 fimo for £1.75 it's soooo cheap but shipping to places that isn't the uk is very expensive
I like to get mine a a single retail branch from michaels in canada, as Port perry branch doesn't carry fimo which is the brand I use I have a friend who goes to the one I like pick up what I need, or I go with my bros when they go to get magic cards.
I either go to joann's or acmoore i only get to go to micheals 1 or 2 times a year
I always notice the back round things are those black big thing hold all your clay if yes please do a video and tell me were I can buy that it's wonderfully big
Does Walmart in Canada have polymer clay!
I buy it either on Amazon or Michaels in Canada.
Hobbycraft here in the UK is good, especially when they have offers! So I stock up then.
so I live in Canada too I was just wondering do Michael's put the sale in their flyers, I keep looking for the sale in the flyer but haven't seen any or do you go in the store every few weeks to check for the sale
Yeah they usually do, though I haven't noticed a clay sale there in awhile.
PolymerClayTutor can u buy it in England
You still have to be careful when ordering clay. I have purchased from craft stores only to find the clay was not shipped properly and the clay was hard and unuseable. I found ordering online in the spring and fall works best for me. In this, the temperature extremes won't ruin the clay.
Because it's a wonderful art medium and lots of people are excited about it and all the things that they can create with it! There is a very large Polymer Clay community around the world and many famous world know artists that make things you've never dreamed of. there are MANY PC videos out there. Cindy Lietz has a very reputable and comprehensive library of them. If you get interested, try her out. Price is minimal. If you like art at all. PC is fascinating!
How long do you bake it? I don't have It yet but it always worries me.
Ehh this comment is kinda old so..what the heck!:D
It should be on the little polymer packet. I saw someone say that they bake their clay for about 15 minutes.
Yeah I was just getting over a cold.
I could not find any places selling that polymer clay in cambodia 😏.. any recommendations, plz?
I am so sad i don't live in the US.. I live in Norway and there is no premo clay shops here that i know of. Only fimo and its rock hard even tho it says its soft :P
I want to know where to find polymer clay in OKC south side
Di u live in Sydney?
Will crayola clay be good to make charms?
sassy hazel Not as good as oven baked polymer clay. It won't be waterproof or very durable.
Is there clay in Quincy
Here in Florida, I tend to buy 95% of my polymer clay from Dick Blick. The price is great, the customer service is awesome, and they have great turnaround between order and delivery. :D I can't recommend them enough. My closest Michael's is about half an hour away, and when there is a sale, it can sometimes be worth it, but with the cost of gas... :)
In Poland : Empik (very expensive), artistic eshops in Poland (sklepartysty etc)
Hi Cindy, Personally, I used to go to Michael's, but, the latest news from my clay guild is that a lot of the stores in Maryland will no longer sell Premo. I haven't been in a while, so I'm not sure if they are doing away with their clay section or just my favorite brand! The good news - I live close to PolymerClayExpress, and close enough to Clay Alley and both have Premo. PCE relocated and their new place is wonderful, much larger than the other location. The staff is always helpful.
In Sweden we have a craft store called Panduro that I by my fimo from. It's 30kr for one piece. A bit expensive but next time ill by from eBay.
I really like Polymer Clay Express (online) because they have a huge selection of one pound blocks of premo
cool video Cindy:)
I went to Montreal for a trip they have a shop called omar disares I got 31 blocks of clay and they were all fresh but 1 was old and the 2nd was all hard and crackly
Where do you buy soft clay?
Which place gives the best deal? I live fairly close to a Michael's and I love the store, but everything is always way over priced. The same with Bobby lobby... Also I know Amazon can have good deals, but I can usually find the same item somewhere else and cheaper....
I think wish may sell polymer clay, however wish is iffy, you may get only a small amount of something different. It's like a 50/50 shot in the dark every time you get something from there lol...
I use Michaels it has bigger selections than the others I have an app thank gives you coupons as an edition to the sale.
Can you make an update version because MICHAELS has downsized and hardly carry any clay, and they never sell anything different it seems always same tools etc. Starting to hate that store.
"Believe it or not even with GOOGLE...." Wow what a joy...
Joann's and michaels is where I go :)
I live in the united stayed and I buy my polymer clay in michael...amazon...and hobby lobby
How do you bake it? I heard it was 15 mins, so I tried to bake it, but after only about 5 mins it got burnt.
Then I tried it again for a bit at a time, like 1 min each time, and I did it about 5 times, but it was still soft so I put it for 2 mins, then it got burnt.
So now I'm scared to bake it...
can you get it from hobby craft
Sorry but I was wondering if Canada Walmart sells polymer clay?

Where can i buy polymer clay in Denmark?
In America or Canada?
I realize this is older but was surprised with all of the sellers online selling old hard clays etc, you would recommend anyplace such as amazon which anyone can sell, like ebay, and clearly people complain about the clays being old, which means why would I trust the other sources, last Kato I bought at Hobby Lobby, old and hard, and kato is hard enough. It's a big waste of money and frustrating to say the least.
I live in England and i can't find anywhere that does it, help me! Its usually around like £1.75 for like 56g which is pretty expensive! plz reply, thank you!
is Michaels in Ireland
Where do I buy from Kuwait?
I am looking for clay stoneware that 100 to 150 pounds.... please email links of stores
THANKS FOR THIS HELPFUL VIDEO I LOVE MICHAELS IM VISITING MICHAELS SOON :-)
Joann's online, they combine shipping costs. Michael's in the store because they don't sell online (yet?). Beware on Amazon - they don't combine shipping costs in all cases, so you may find yourself paying more in shipping than the clay costs. Create4Less is a good place too. For 1 lb bars of white, black and translucent Premo - Amazon Prime.
can i get it at target???

In south korea polymer caly is farely impossible to find in crafting stores so i go on ebay is Amazon better then ebay?
Hi 김혜린 Amazon is usually better for having fresher clay than eBay... just because there are a lot of people on eBay selling their old supplies and Amazon tends to be stores that are selling it. But you still need to buy from a reputable seller.
Thanks for the advise! ;) and keep up the good vedios it's really helpful ^^

I buy the big blocks (in limited colors) of Premo at Polyclay.com - they also just had a special on Premo for 50% off. I keep a "wish list" of the colors I need so when the sale is on, it's a quick process and I don't forget anything.
