    I'm going to become a part-time wheelchair user as my condition progresses. Your video inspires me to embrace my new life and not look back.

    I own a Quickie similar to the one shown and I, unlike the guy making the video, find the front caster pins hidden away in the frame creates major issues when you need to tighten/adjust those once the bearings loosen up (an inevitability w/ bearings). To accomplish this normally simple task - in any other chair - you must take the forks off/apart to tighten up the slight amount of play once the bearings have settled (a nightmare if you happen to have FrogLegs up front to dampen vibration on rough surfaces). If this is not adjusted/tightened up the front caster wheels start to flutter like a bad shopping cart, when pushing at speed. Now, perhaps I'm a little more demanding than others are about this issue, but I take my service dog for walks and it is very annoying to have your front casters go into that flutter mode at standard strolling speed, when you're trying to roll. I would give a warning to anyone who is active in their chair not get one of these due specifically to that frame design. It takes a special tool in order to disassemble/re-assemble the forks of the Froglegs, so you can tighten/adjust the caster pins, and about a good hour to accomplish this necessary task. Not very user friendly! FYI Hope you enjoy the chair.

    Those of you that are looking into a chair soon. Look into the TILite wheelchairs. I use a TiLite ZRA wheelchair, mine is a rigid chare, And I Love it. I can load it into my car real easy. And the rigid chairs feel so solid. I used to have a Quickie. And I still have it in my attic. It is the GPV model. It is a good chair, but very loose feeling compared to my TiLite ZRA. Once I got the TiLite, I changed from Quickie wheelchairs. Its just my favorite. Nothing is wrong with Quickie chairs, I just like the Tilite much more.

    Sunrise Medical is actually a British company and Quickie is just the name that they use for their higher end wheelchairs that they manufacture. ( Lower ends being the “Lomax” and “Breezy” lines respectively)

    Sunrise Medical are the owners of the Quickie brand name, it is not a collaboration. They can't collaborate with themselves. They are also the owners of Jay and Breezy and many other brand names. Note these are brand names, the company name is Sunrise Medical.

    Hi thanks for your time doing video. I had a quickie and was let down by the poor system or connection via the front wheels ! where it attaches to the main frame it flexes when you hit a small rock 1cm ! Rather than rolling over the pebble it locks the front wheel thus causing problems for the user, the only way I could overcome the flexing of this joint was to reinforce it so it didn't flex apart from that the chair wasn't bad to use and lasted a good two years before it wore out.

    That seems like a huge improvement, I have a quickie neon with swing away foot plates and it's a pile of junk.

    How long did the flip up footrest catch last? I bought one, and they tend not to last very long, quite often it detaches and your foot ends up getting pinched between the footrest and the raised and the base of the foot rest catch. Good move changing the back, I had problems with mine just giving way. There is a frog leg front castor/fork variant which is worth considering.

    Jay, I would like to know where you got your office chair. Did it come that way or did you alter the wheel base? I like to use my office chair in tight spaces such as loading/unloading my dishwasher in my tiny kitchen where the big wheels on my w/c get in the way. My office chair has tiny plastic casters which have been destroyed by the deep grout lines in my tile floor. Thanks, --Lila.

    Hello! Can you help me please? I bought quickie xenon and center of gravity is more backwards, I fell on my back the very first day I used it. Is there a way I can change balance more center wards?

    • @OneMystified
      @OneMystified 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You change that by repositioning the back wheels down a few bolt holes, the plastic grommets come out to reveal the holes behind the rear upright strut. I had to move mine down about 4 positions before it would go up a gradient to my apartment. Though I am sure you have found this out by now.

    I have a Quickie w/ the same style front caster design and I absolutely hate my chair for that reason. When it comes time to make any adjustments/repairs to those caster assemblies, its a major PITA to get to those caster stems. Also, one C clip goes bad and your front caster stem will fall right out of the housing. I spent a weekend like a three legged dog, getting around on three wheels, because of this POS. Hope you never have to perform maintenance on it yourself, because you'll need special tools and Lord help you if you happen to have Frog Legs. Ridiculous! I could kick myself for choosing this chair, but I can't kick anymore. That was a joke. Best of luck w/ your choice.

      I have a TiLite and mine does not have two sides holding casters. It only has one, and major easy to take off, remove the darn hair it collects. I though I would have that problem at my house, but nope, it comes from stores. They need to clean the darn carpet..

      I have a spare chair, but you might not fit in that chair. In the USA our chairs are built to size. they take lots of measurements. And build it custom. You might want to send your measurements, and maybe someone might have a chair they no long use because they have a new one, might help you out.
