Thank you sir. Yes, I’m afraid you’re right. Not many “working” teams anymore. Lot of wagon teams seems like. But it’s hard to make honest teams when all you do is wagon ride. Anyway, thank you for the kind words!! And thx for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please!
Seeing those mules reminds me of one time when I was teenager I was in the hospital with and elderly man "well he was about the age I am now 71 years old". He had two young mules and that was all he talked about. Every time someone came in the room to visit him the first thing he would said did yawl feed my mules this morning. Then when they left the last thing he would say "yawl better take care of my mules".
That is awesome! I am sure I would be the same way about my mules if I was in that shape also. I do care for and love my mules a lot. Thank you for sharing with me, and thank you also for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please!
Man, the girls don't seem to be straining at all. Looks like you are on a leisurely trip to town. Zack, everyone can tell you care for your mules. I really enjoy the Christian messages you've been adding. Thank you for being bold with your faith.
Thank you sir. The wagon makes things easier for sure and increases our production. And I feel like I should always put the lord first. Because if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be anything at all anyway. I owe everything I am to Jesus. And I am glad to share that message. Thank you sir for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
You are starting to make me really appreciate mules. I have never been a mule person. I had one many years ago, and we didn't see eye to eye. I have many people around me who swore by them, but I just never hit it off with them. Watching your mules is showing me how patient and precise they are.
Well thank you ma’am! I prefer mules just because they work a little more methodical and slower than a horse does, USUALLY! They think before acting. To some folks, this is a nuisance. To some, they appreciate it. Mules usually take shorter steps while pulling: and while this makes them slower because of shorter strides, imho it allows them more strength and endurance. It’s sorta like having a lower geared vehicle. If that makes sense. They’re def easier keepers and for me…well I just love them. I love their minds, their gentle eyes, their long ears, and their curiosity. They’re sorta like dogs when it comes to people. They truly bond with you. After a while. I’ve had good horses and mules alike. But I’ve had more good mules than I have good horses, I’ll say it that. Or at least ones that I thought were good anyway. Mules are very intelligent animals, and they function on routine. The same way, every time..if that makes sense. When a person finds a way to channel that energy, you get a far superior work animal. Again, imho of course. I like horses and mules alike, but my heart prefers mules for work. Anyway, thank you for such kind words as always. And thank you for taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate it. Take care friend and do come again!

This is the 3rd video so far, very interesting to watch the mules. They are beautiful creatures God created all. First video was shoeing the mule explaining shape differences had to see more. Didn't know people log with mules or horses. Better than heavy trucks taring up the woods. Thanks for sharing Jesus
Thank you ma’am for taking time to watch and comment. I surely appreciate it. There are still some folks around the country logging with animals. And it works in the right conditions. Sometimes we just can’t log a place. Terrain and such. But anyway, thank you for the kind words. Take care and do come again, please

God bless you for telling us on every video that you are praying for us and for building our faith in Jesus Christ. I truly need it in a bad way, and it brings tears that someone who has never heard of me cares. Becsuse of your gracious prayers for us out here, I now pray for you and your family, both two and four-footed. You have such skill, humility and you treat your mules as partners in an enterprise that God has provided to give you both good lives for yourselves and others. God bless you all and keep you safe. I just discovered your vids and they are pulling me up from the darkness of having a doctor take a healthy leg and turn it crippled.
That truly does mean a lot to me. I’m sad to hear of your leg… But I do pray that God blesses you through this circumstance. Thank you for such kind words on my videos. And for the prayers for us as well. I truly appreciate it. I do care and I’m glad to pray no doubt! Thank you for taking time to comment. Take care and do come again, please!
My uncle had mules years ago, and they would come running from way back in the pasture, run down beside road chasing after him and his stock trailer wanting to go to work in the log woods . All he would have to do is open gate and stock trailer doors and they would jump in . If they Could have talked they would have said lets go.
I bet so! They get to where they really enjoy working once they learn and get in shape. I think they like getting out and seeing things also. Breaks up the same ole same ole. Thank you for sharing with me and also for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please

Yessir it really is. Big big help. It didn’t take em long to get used to it. Thx for taking time to watch and comment. And for the kind words my friend. Take care and do come again, please. Anytime
No, not really. Now they do slide better on the ground when it is a little slick out. So that helps mules a little bit. For grounds skating. But as far as loading the logs… It doesn’t make much difference.
The biggest factor that I see, is… It is easier on the young timber. And it don’t tear the ground up near as bad as heavy machines. The cool factor is also a benefit. And it is more peaceful conditions to work with less overhead! That is a good question, and thank you for asking! Also, thank you for taking time to watch in comment. Take care and do come again anytime
Well, I don’t need one really. And it’s extra weight for nothing imho. I ground skid to the wagon. Crosshaul the logs up onto the wagon using the team, then come out with the wagon and team. I can maneuver the wagon better being hooked directly to it. With a cart it would be impossible to back it in places I go. Also, with the cart you have a pivot point. And the mules can’t hold it back like they can being hooked directly to the tongue. And we’ve got some rolling hills here. I often put 5 tons of hardwood timber on my wagon. So holding back is a must. You lose that with a cart. Another thing is being hooked closer to the wagon…or load. It’s easier for the team to pull. The further they’re hooked from the load, the harder pull it is. But the main reason, is maneuvering. Lots of times with this wagon I’ll get it backed in right between two trees I’ve cut down and ground skid right over to it. Skids are super short and it saves my team. Thus getting more production at the end of the day. Some trees are so big, you just gotta park the wagon right beside it and handle it from right where it is. So maneuvering is very important. The mules hooked directly to it, helps tremendously with getting around with it. Thanks for the question and I hope I answered for you. Thanks for taking g time to watch and comment my friend! Take care and do come again, please
I don’t usually eat while I’m in the woods to be honest. I don’t like to eat much while I’m working. I do however drink quite a bit. I keep a couple water jugs. Thanks for the question and also for watching and commenting. Take care and do come again.
No sir not around here I haven’t. There’s no real market for it. I use to cut a lot of pine saw logs down in Alabama years ago. Here, it’s mostly all hardwood timber and hardwood markets. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
Kate and Alice seemed to have no problem in pulling those heavy loads, why don't you stack two logs high and take less space on your landing, if you are loading big red with the skid steer I can't see the difference to load your sold logs, what am I not seeing or understanding. Another great video I'm still amazed at is how you softly speak to your team, stay safe and stay clear of both ends.
Well, if you pulled the wagon alongside a stack already and unloaded, they wouldn’t roll at easy over the tops of the logs that’s there. They will however on flat smooth ground. And usually if I have the room such as here, I’ll dump a whole bunch of logs like I’ve been doing here, then I’ll sort the logs and stack them according to grade and where they will go with the skid steer. To clean the deck up. Then repeat the process the next day until we get 3-4 loads up. Then, I’ll take time and just haul them. Loading the truck with the skid steer. Kate and Alice does me a good job for sure. They’re making a real nice woods team. And thank you for such kind words my friend! I appreciate it. And thx for taking time to always watch and comment. Take care buddy, and come back when ya can. Thx
Nah, I don’t usually eat while I’m working. It’s harder for me to work really on a full stomach. I do drink quite a bit while working tho. Lots of water. 💦
You strained a lot more in this video than your mules, which by the way, handled every load very well. They are tall, but not as heavy as horses the same height, and so holding a load downhill is also quite some work for them.
Yessir I did lol. This is wagon makes getting more footage a lot easier on them. My mules aren’t that tall really. 16.2 hands and 1500#. They’re pretty heavy for their size.
