What I like to do when in a moment of panic is say to myself "wow, you're doing so well I'm proud of you! This isn't as bad! Wow I'm so excited for you! You're accomplishing so much!" And after a minute i slowly feel a calming sensation blanket over the adrenaline rush. So I agree, this helps a lot.

For some people, this just seems impossible so they throw it out. But if you educate them that the feeling of anxiety is the exact same chemical response in the body as excitement. It's exactly the same. Then they can say "My body is all excited about this' instead of 'I'm so anxious about this'. If it's general anxiety then the words are something like 'My body is all excited about something. I wonder what it is?' It's a subtle difference but important because "I'm NOT my body or my thoughts or my feelings. I have a body, thoughts and feelings".

This absolutely works! It takes some doing at first but once I was able to do it, it paved the way for me to be able to "face" the fear that I was running away from, the fear that I thought if I let it loose, I would go crazy or die. Once I was able to allow myself to feel that frightening little monster that was bullying me, my turning point had arrived! I remembered that the next step the DARE book recommended was to challenge the fear to bring it on, to gimme all it's got! I discovered that all it had to bring was not much more and as much as I continued to challenge it to get stronger, IT COULD NOT! HA! My moment of victory was when I said to myself, "THIS was what I was afraid of?" And it was at that very moment that the much needed subliminal message, that i WAS NOT IN ANY REAL DANGER, made its way to my amygdala and it literally shut down the "fight or flight" defense! I could actually feel the subtle difference when that emotional switch was shut off... I realized soon after that I'd never have a panic attack again because I no longer added second FEAR to the first FEAR. That was 3 years ago and I haven't had another panic episode again since. I was 60 years old when I was cured by the DARE method. My very first panic attack experience was when I was 14 years old. 56 years of panic attacks were gone for good when I experienced the first second of the sweet peace of FREEDOM! The DARE method is the only real method on the market that will cure your anxiety/panic attacks while all other so-called methods just offer a band-aid to "manage" the problem. This method will work for anyone who is patient enough to follow the DARE method as prescribed... I feel that it has saved my emotional life! ❤️🙏 (A shout out to Dr. Claire Weeks' book, "Hope and Help For Your Nerves." This dear lady was on the right track! Her book both helped and educated me until I found Barry's method ❤️🙏)

Why are these videos not getting views????? I've realized I've been suppressing excitement and that's turned into anxiety... Maybe it's my self esteem that made me believe being excited about certain things was wrong as a child. Now I'm just going to keep telling myself that I'm excited everytime I feel anxious ..
Woohoo I'm excited that I'm gonna treat my anxiety!!!!
Oh my god I think I'm just a very excited person in general.... Oh my god I'm Chris Pratt from parks and recreation!!!!!!

my health is what's caused my stress and high anxiety. my brain feels like a radar. any symptom, noise, a vision in what I see, be it TV, out side, the mind decides if to go in to an anxious or fight or flight mode or not.. my mind so programmed like this, I think it will take time to try reprogram it back to more stable mind. will try this tip. thanks 😊

I just tell myself when my anxiety levels are rising that people pay thousands of dollars for the adrenaline rush I get just doing mundane tasks like driving to work. Like woohoo I get the sensation of sky diving while driving 😂. Stupid anxiety.

Omg, same with me. I just now figured out that my excitement causes hyperventilation, snd ultimately, there's nothing to fear. Do you also get dizzy feelings?
