The soul is a spark of consciousness. Consciousness is fundamental and the mind is elemental emerging with quantum events, as does the heavy physical bodily elements. The soul is what gives life as the elemental cannot give life. Plato in a higher age was closer to the truth. Aristotle was on the downward arc towards the dark age and all higher knowledge was being lost and matter and materialism became the primary focus as in the dark age all that was capable of being understood was matter or the elemental. The soul is not like anything that is tangible, Spirit is intangible except in what is manifest. If we want to understand the soul we have to go back to Plato and the higher age. Aristotle mixed the physical or the manifest with the soul. The soul gives life without becoming mixed with it. Aristotle made contributions but seeing a soul as other than an individualized spark of cosmic consciousness, or God, is in error.
