FastPatch Asphalt Alligator Crack Repair (FastPatch ACR) is a cold applied, easy to mix asphalt restoration and repair material. FastPatch ACR is used to repair alligatoring cracks while providing a protective layer over the cracks to help prevent further cracking and to keep water from entering the cracks. FastPatch ACR is a 100% solids polymer composite. No water or solvents. FastPatch ACR is supplied in complete, ready-to-use kits.

Think of the asphalt as if it were glass. The alligator cracking problem is caused because the asphalt has been broken all the way down to the base. You can't fix it by putting a skim coat over it. The cracks will just come back. You have to cut out and remove the broken asphalt all the way to where it isn't broken and then patch the spot with new asphalt and roll it. What they are doing is like spray painting over broken glass or rust. It's lipstick on a pig.

I use this stuff it works great if u don’t want to cut out and patch. I usually let it set for 5 hours in the summer then seal coat over top of it. One thing I do is I’ll take a strong duct tape make a nice square around the area that I’m applying the material down on and after It’s laid I pull the tape up and it looks like a nice consistent patch or repair, but peel the tape right after u apply it if u wait tell it’s dried it’ll peel up the edges

because that would disrupt the flow of the liquid and reduce contact points and interlock with the existing pavement. Also, the aggregate might pop to the surface when spreading and smoothing. Also, that extra effort likely won't do anything and is more expensive than a little extra mix material.

Somehow reminds me of the old saying “papering over Cracks” !!!!!! If it’s cracked on the top , the underlying substrate must be moving!!!!!

All that this product/process is doing is filling in the voids between the chunks of broken and heaving pavement. The cracks will return within a year, two tops, because the pavement base is fractured full depth, the sub grade is heaving. The only repair is to take up the broken pavement and address the heaving base.

Working in the asphalt industry for 15 years ive used my fair share of "alligator repair patch" products like this. Don't even waste your time or money. Save up and get it cut and patched

Here’s how I sell against this crap, whenever it’s brought up:
-they did about 40 sq ft in the video…their website says 10 sq ft per “kit”. Each kit is $210.00. Cost of repair in video $840.00 (plus delivery, labor, etc…)
      -$840.00 for 6 months…..let’s say 1…..heck even 2 year bandaid.
      That’s $420 per year…just for the 40?sq ft.
-remove and replace that location…added in with the other areas needed (which are obvious in the lot) for $1,200.00…for the same 40 sq ft.
Maybe it’s Joshua tree…where it gets below freezing at night and then 115 during the day. TONS of shrinking and expanding pavement… so it only is a 20 year repair.
$1,200.00 for 20 years is only $60.00 per year.
-you’re paying 7x more to “bandaid” the area with this slime.
Plug in the numbers as they fit…and it typically will still work out to be dramatic.
I do the same thing when looking at overlay vs. RR, or other methods.
