    She really was far more intelligent than the weird TV presenters back then. And she told him he's a sexist bastard! Good lass Wendy!

    here in 2023 I had never before seen her do interviews, watched a few now and shes the same in everyone, ie totally different persona from the way she projects when on stage in song. Never knew how intellectual she must be under all that bright lipstick and brash vocals.

    “Rough around the edges” Definitely of its time that comment. Very knowledgeable on 60’s icons. Performance is excellent.

      I think that people who are a bit thick, always try to insult those who are more intelligent. It is a knee jerk reaction, due to panic. That seems to be what is going on here, with all the insults. Wendy James was blessed with patience with this type, wasn't she? Dear me!

    Great to hear wendy talk about edie sedgwick after i watched the movie factory girl her story somehow made me very sad and i looked into her indeed she was a very tragic figure and had all the talents wendy speaks of but she wasnt a strong charachter and thats the sad pary very talented and very beautiful butt not as strong when it came to people vultures who feed on others i always feel sad when i think of edie sedgewick

    Just watching some old Wendy interviews. She comes across so well and the (generally) male interviewers are just sleazy, sexist old gits. Terrible interviews handled so well by her.

      Words like "sexist" don't really help (even though Wendy herself uses it in this interview). The interviewer here is a young man (rather than a "sleazy old git"), and he is just a bit of a wanker. Wendy James is far more intelligent, and he is clearly intellectually out of his depth.

    He sneers "Strange role model" and calls her "rough round the edges". He has no idea that he's trying to patronise a performer who is more intelligent, more interesting and more professional than he is. Painful to watch.

      Definitely some playfulness going on don't think Wendy minds to much she can give as much as she takes. Don't think people realised how articulate and intelligent she was then and still is

    • @dramastudiocheshire7931
      @dramastudiocheshire7931 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kevinhanson4703 I think what you call playfulness from the interviewer, is just blind panic. He is rude to Wendy James because he lacks the intelligent to be polite. You say "she can give as much as she takes", but why should she have to ? Why not book an interviewer who is polite an professional. You see playfulness. I see rudeness due to panic.

      @@dramastudiocheshire7931If she had decided to argue, I'm sure she would have won the battle but not the war. This was a transitional point for women, but damn great that it happened. Anyway, that's why she had to...the context of the times.

      It’s not to give that ignorant presenter an eyeful. She can dress how she wants. It was and is completely unique. He was just trying to tear her down with negativity to make her feel bad & try and manipulate her, but failed. I’m always impressed with how well she handles herself in these interviews, brushing off these sleazy blokes and their cringey remarks

    • @dramastudiocheshire7931
      @dramastudiocheshire7931 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Mark Mitchell I think you are reading alot into this that isn't there. This is just a young man who is in a panic and is rather rude, and a young woman who is being patient with him. I don't think she's flirting with him, because his insults cause him to be rather unattractive.

    When an interviewer releases they are so not up to the task, and the interviewee is far more intelligent, far more prepared, has things of substance to say and let's face is a thousand times better looking and actually has a metric tonne of raw talent in their chosen role as a singer in a rock band to justify them being in the interviewee seat in the first place. Crash and burned doesn't get half way there. Wendy never was interviewed in her prime by anybody with anything like her talent or brains...which is a great, great pity.

      @@VanielDeeform I think they were all like that back then. The shocking way an interviewer from Australia treated Joan Collins, can only be bettered by the Parkinson interview with Helen Mirren, when he goes "People don't notice your Shakespeare performances because they're looking at your breasts" (or words to that effect). Mirren smiles and destroys him sweetly. I think Wendy James is doing the same here.
