Tridium is great at the supervisory level, there's no doubt about that. But what this video fails to mention is that most of the programming of the actual controllers is done via proprietary software. Just because you overlay a JACE on top of another system, doesn't mean you'll never have to deal with the other controls contractors again.

Such a good video; great questions, great answers, and a great mind opener to communication and automation for green horns like me!

The jace is a great device, we use it as a logging master for energy monitoring. The only device that I've had difficulty in integrating is a Sirio 485 ALM. we can communicate with the device fine but getting the correct readings from it seems impossible. have you ever worked with one of these? any help would be appreciated.

I am just finishing up an Automated Logics install (as a sub) in Nashville. I couldn't believe that their system doesn't even have a single thermo well (water system). You guys might be fixing the low bid on it.
Are yall hiring in mid TN? Lol.

System tech is a good company further training I recommend Phil zilo based on using Distect and Easyio controls company uses virtual training company called building automation systems and that teaches you online on how to eventually become controls engineer or a consultant system and Eric stomquist are a great contribution to the industry just remember philo zilo and building automation monthly .

Sounds Great, but having other system controllers means to change "its" program, now what. To get point info for correct devices, now what. You need much more info and resources than what is portrayed. Find a controls contractor that is good, stick to BACnet and why have a Tridium overlay if you do not need protocol conversion? This is for those that have a multitude of "crap" because like he said "low bidder" We get it right cuz we do it twice model of business low bid mentality.

They are not objective in their presentation. They are talking as Niagara is some kind of messiah savior in case you have some unknown 3rd part system but it is not true. It is just OPC/server/virtual framework used only to handle data you already know everything about. If you don't know anything about protocol or device you are integrated Niagara will help you just as next integration software out there (it won't).

Well said. They have done a great job marketing it as the only game in town. Sounds like you are an integrator? What do you use besidesTridium? We are seeing lots more altrenatives getting traction. Please let me know if there are any subjects you would like us to make videos on in HVAC or Smart Bulding Controls

@@EricStromquist Hi. Yes, I am integrator myself but I am afraid I am stuck with Johnson Controls as my company is their representative in my country. Depending what you want there are many solutions out there. I don't know much about OPC variations but for protocol integration (gateways) I strongly recommend Intesis company and their products.
