That’s exactly what I was thinking, that he should live forever. I’m only six years younger and knowing the end is coming makes for a different mindset. Good on Roger.

Seeing him hanging out in the pits with his team at Bathurst this year (on TV) really cemented this for me. He has prospered because he is passionate about the sport.

@Ethan Bush That day will come. Penske Corp is worth almost $40B. Now that NASCAR and the speedways are under one umbrella, if NASCAR is still on the market, which I think it is, it makes it more attractive of a target.

Id love to see somebody like roger, that understands what grass roots racing is actually about, return nascar to something wed want to watch again.
Hope Penske can lure a few other engine manufacturers to join IndyCar; maybe Toyota and Mercedes.

Greatest news day in decades for American motorsports. Now that Tony George is out of the picture, Indycar can get back to the old CART formula. The old CART cars were challenging cars for the best drivers. In the early 1990's, there were multiple engine and chassis manufacturers. F1 drivers came over and competed and CART champions went to F1. Today, Indycar is equivalent to F2.
What a legend! A true racer. It would be great if Roger could resurrect 90's champ car.

I remember going to the Indy 500 when I was in High School. I honestly can say that I might remember very much of the races because of that awesome snake pit, parking outside the gate the evening before and racing to get the best spots when the gates opened. Getting as many hot dogs with the 8 to 10 bucks we had left and all the signs that encouraged the ladies to show their spirit. I'm glad Penske will take over ownership as many races he has won he deserves it.
I'm excited for the future of racing at IMS! I just want to go and be apart of it.

I can't think of one other person in any form of racing more qualified to take on Indycar and IMS.
I'm not even a big fan of his, but i agree. Who knows more about this than him? Pretty much nobody.

Don't get me wrong, Indy is cool and history and so on, but it's F1 route is just boring
F1 cant do two USA races a year. $$$ and time. Plus IMS is historic but it can not compete with COTA.
@@GURken You are the only person to put your finger on it. That course sucked. Ask any F1 driver, or any F1 fan..., the drivers said the course was Dyslexic. Bulldoze the course and start over if you plan on succeeding in having F1 at Indy. I don't know that it is even possible to take the boredom out of F1 Racing though.
If I were Roger, my first priority would be to take advantage of the Miami F1 race debacle, and get the race to Indy. The track could be a clockwise routing of the old Grand Prix layout, with the motorcycle course portion on the south end substituted in for the banked portion that created the tire wear concerns this track is known for.

I could never question Penske's passion and dedication to the sport of auto racing. Having watched this man for decades, I find him to be the most joyless individual I have ever seen. I think he will do a super job in this new endeavor, but for heavens sake Roger, look like you are enjoying your accomplishments at least once and a while.
Bring IMSA up there and run a 24 hour race with all the same classes that they run at the Rolex24 at Daytona.
Bring IMSA sports car racing to the Indy road course. Would be a win-win in my opinion. Mr Penske is first class in all aspects.

This is the best Racing news i've heard in a long time, Roger will keep all the traditional aspect's of Indy Car and Nascar together, but I hope he start's pulling out all those race car's out of the museum and starts vintage racing.

I hope he makes a legit F1 track. Obviously with the topography, they can’t make it as good as Austin in that respect. However, I’d rather see a well thought out(include top drivers in its design) road course that’s overtake inducing. In my opinion, I’d rather see that than a Miami street course. And my family owns a condo on the proposed circuit. I just think the history of Indy would make it much more special than anything the streets of Miami can offer.

I attended all eight of the US Grand Prix held at Indy. If Penske brings Formula One back to the Brickyard, count me in!!!!!

NASCAR & Indycar double header on Indy "Roval"? I think it's pretty well accepted that NASCAR type cars aren't that exciting on flat, 4 corner ovals (they weren't at Ontario either). Charlotte has ignited interest in roval races and Indy has one.

@@jonathanbrugii9407 Exactly why a double header almost has to be on the roval. I doubt they would dilute the Indy 500 with a second Indy Car race on the oval. And, if the 500 is the only race weekend on the oval, it starts to regain some of the mystique it had when I was growing up.

2 weeks ago Roger was awarded the medal of freedom highest award to a American citizen. This week he got to own Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Indycar who was split up for about a decade and now he gets to show how to run a series. roger will run with Nascar weekends.

Its great news for racing fans all over the world to have Roger as the owner of not only Indy Speedway but also what i still believe is the best open wheel category as in closeness in the world. I miss the days of going to the Gold Coast in Australia when it was run by CART and once they have the series going right would love to see them come back to Australia so i can see my favorite open wheelers again.

@@daxvolfan NASCAR has always had an aversion for the "open wheelers" as they called the Indycar drivers even to the point where Indycar quit racing on ISC tracks because they were so poorly promoted.. Looked like they were throwing shade at Penskes good fortune. It's pretty obvious even to the casual observer that Roger Penske will have to run his team with the same set of rules as everybody else.....again, a stupid question.......

My main concern is have they looked at the succession plan? Will Roger Penske's family continue the traditions of Indy when the time comes? I'm sure that was one of Roger Penske's concerns also
He has a detailed plan in place for the race team and business - obviously this adds a BIG item to the plate of who will be in charge when Roger is gone.

@@jimbosc Whatever Roger has in place for his business and race team made very little difference to the fan. As you said, this adds a BIG item to the plate.
I really hope Penske has a sit down with brad to talk about that horrible angle of a wall he hit out of turn 4, that opening legitimately serves 0 use, and seeing how the car came to a stop, should be changed, car should never be able to even partially clear a barrier
I'm worried that Rodger is going to allow full time Indy teams to automatically enter the 500. I really like the current format that EVERYONE needs to qualify into the race, it adds to the allure/tradition of the 500.
Lambton Old-School Mini Bike Racing Association.....automatic entry ??? Any team can enter. Pay the entry fees as with every race. As for qualifying. i dont ever recall automatic qualification. Pretty sure pole day and all the rest of qualifying will always be the way its been.
