Actually, I recently moved and compared both side by side again. While the Sieveking model that held my daily driver Fostex's that I take on and off did get more use than the cheaper model that just saw intermittent use with some wireless PlayStation headsets they're both in great shape. No oiling or any maintenance was done on either product at all since their purchase and both made it through the move in the same way, via their individually provided canvas tote bags which I still have. You can either read this as the cheaper stand out performing its price point, or that the more expensive model is just overpriced for some shaped wood, but I can say that there is no discernable difference in the duties they both perform. All of my headsets are still in good condition and comfortable to wear!
