  • Welcome to our TH-cam video! In this video, we will take you on a virtual tour of the magnificent Attock Khurd Railway Station and the historic Attock Bridge in Pakistan.
Located near the Old Attock Bridge on the main railway line, the Attock Khurd Railway Station has a rich history dating back to 1884 during the British rule. Recently renovated and declared a tourist complex in March 2007, this station is known for its stunning Victorian architecture and impressive stone masonry. Surrounded by lush green hills, it stands as one of the most beautiful railway stations in Pakistan. While trains running between Rawalpindi and Peshawar pass through this station, unfortunately, they do not make a stop here.
Now let's move on to the iconic Attock Bridge, also known as the "Old Attock Bridge." Spanning the Indus River between Attock Khurd and Khairabad Kund, this bridge holds great strategic and commercial significance as a crucial crossing between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Originally designed by Sir Guilford Molesworth, it was opened to traffic on 24 May 1883, with a construction cost exceeding Rs 3.2 lakh.
In 1929, Sir Francis Callaghan took on the task of redesigning and rebuilding the bridge at a cost of Rs 2.5 million. The bridge boasts two floors and five spans, with three of the spans measuring 257 and 312 feet in length. The upper floor serves as a railway track while the lower floor accommodates road traffic. Interestingly, the bridge's entrance was fortified to defend against potential attacks from neighboring Pashtun tribes. Although the New Attock Bridge is now primarily used for traffic, the Old Attock Bridge remains a symbol of historical significance and engineering marvel.
Join us as we explore the architectural beauty of Attock Khurd Railway Station and delve into the rich history and remarkable features of the Old Attock Bridge. Don't miss out on this captivating journey through Pakistan's heritage!
