I have Phillips H9 bulbs in my Tacoma that come with H11 bulbs for the low.beams, the fitment of the three prongs is the same , just have to trim out the top small tab in the connector of the H9 to fit in the H11 plug , better and brighter light 👍
but if you put a more powerful (65w) bulb instead of a 35w bulb won't damage something in that light housing (like the inner part of it,the reflective mirror)?
You would only have to worry about heat damage with higher-wattage HIDs - the most you have to worry about with higher-wattage halogen bulbs is poor reliability. More wattage typically means a shorter lifespan.
Been running H9 in lieu of H11 since one of my Morimoto 2 Strokes burnt out. Vey impressed with the output and it’s lasted as long as I’ve had 2 Strokes. Finally upgraded to H11 Xtreme LED pros because of the fan less option. It was truly the best bang for your buck. 👍

Are H11, H9 and H8 the same? Yes, H11, H9, and H8 are the same bulbs they just carry different part numbers, positions, and default wattages for standard halogen bulb replacements. Aside from these minor differences, all three are identical on every other front from size and shape to locking tabs and connectors
I didn't understand the video very well because it was not in the same language, but I have a question: Can H11 be installed on a vehicle with H9 high beam? Is there any difference?
@@HeadlightRevolution But while h9 is a 12v 65w bulb, h11 appears to be 32w. Does using 32w cause any problems? Can 32w be used instead of 65w? thank you for replying
H16 is also cross-compatible with H8/H9/H11, the major difference being the wattage. H8, H9, and H11 all run above 35W, whereas the H16 is much lower at around 20W - not nearly bright enough for headlight usage.
Why Joel's advise matters: Electrical devices with different wattages are more dependent on the device, not the power source. A lower wattage device will run normally in a high-watt situation, while a high-wattage device can burn out lower-watt lines and fuses, and even start fires. Before upgrading, be sure your fixture and wiring (all the way to the source, depending on your application) support _at least_ the wattage of your device. Think of it this way: The power source does not _push_ power to the device, the device _pulls_ power from the source. If it pulls too hard, bad things can happen. This is why tiny night lights are fine in your home's wall socket, but a big guitar amp might burn the socket or blow a fuse. The device is usually fine in both cases.
On one hand, running an H9 in a low beam or fog (native H11 or H8) without a glare shield (limiter) is juvenile and dumb. Just go ahead and shine laser beams into the eyes of oncoming traffic and expect them not to hit you. On the other hand, running a H9 in a native H11 low beam projector can be a vast improvement and maintain useful lighting LB pattern with increased output at the sacrifice of bulb lifespan.
Great note! You’re absolutely right - H9 conversion isn’t ideal for setups without shields due to potential glare. That being said, this video was designed to demonstrate the brightness and cross-compatibility between the bulbs. Since H11 is such a popular choice, we often get questions about why they’re labeled as H8/H9/H11 bulbs. In the halogen world, those numbers really matter because of differences in wattage and heat. However, for LEDs, the distinction isn’t as critical because they run at a lower wattage, generate less heat, and share the same bases/connectors.
Annual vehicle safety inspections in my state. Bulb swaps became a failure criteria a few years ago due to all the morons putting HIDs in their ricer fogs and blinding everyone. And all the diesel morons putting super stringent LEDs in all their clearance lights that are required to be amber.
