carmakers in India are taking safety for granted this car has scored 0 in euro NCap that too thrice, I don't think Renault has worked on it. All these carmakers are serving other countries as priority but we're told that this is localization, Maruti Suzuki makes a car in 8 minutes, still we get a waiting period of 8 months on baleno. There's no waiting time for foreign market but for us only, in fact there's a waiting period of 3 months for this Kwid
Changes expected for the 1.0 ltr are 1> a bigger R14 wheel with 4 bolts, 2> ABS-EBD, (Instd of touch screen infotainment) 3> door mounted power window switches, 4> Dual Airbag as standard. At-least an option they could have offered.
This car here in Brazil will have ABS and dual side airbags because the government requires automakers to do so. It will be available next week and I'm looking forward to it, I hope it is good!
Informed review by power drift. I test drove the Kwid 1L in Noida and observed certain anomalies. The rear view mirror is small with restricted view which does not match the other features provided. There are no overhead grab rail in front passenger side which is a tad uncomfortable during exit. The rear passenger needs to lower the head before exiting without injury. One cannot slide out from the sitting position. The absence of interior adjustment of view in the ORVM is discomforting. The other features are satisfactory.
Polo petrol (1020kg kerb weight) is 350kg heavier than a kwid. Thats already 4 XL size adults more. Kwid 1.0 has significantly better power/torque to weight than the Polo 1.2L. Unlikely to struggle
Ratnakar Soren petrol cars have less low end torque , i feel that polo petrol is underpowered for a car of its weight, lastly the climb to ooty from bandipur is too extreme. I have never seen such an extreme climb, one can smell the clutch of incoming cars
does kwid is sturdy car? nd does its part last longer ?.. how is the suspension of car in real life is it made of poor quality or poor material?? some parts are made of plastic are those are too imp part ?? other than oil sump .. plz reply thinking 2 buy this car
haha :D aw man, tiago is a great city car, k10 is a super drivers car, and kwid is definitely the most practical. Not completely sold on the Celerio but, will try to do a video for the same! :D
I am thinking to buy this car, can you please let me know about the complaints like: 1.Water leakage inside to front foot rest area through windscreen (Heavy rain and washing)? 2. Drope in mileage like from 23 or the claimed one for RK1.0. to 13 - 14? 3. Can low weight of car and 3 wheel nuts cause an invitation to an accident? 4. Is Maruti k10 is better to buy over this? 5. What about the breaks of cars? I heard there is something wrong with it too. Please reply me as soon as possible before I book it. Please! I am very confused....
Hey Rahul find my answers below, 1. I can't comment on that since we didn't experience rain and neither have I heard any complaints about that problem specifically, 2. I averaged aroun 18 kmpl, claimed efficiency is very hard to achieve as those are under strict test conditions, for me, the A/C was on, I drove in the city and the highway, 3. The fact that the car doesn't come with ABS is a bit of concern however, I don't think the 3 bolts and low weight increases the risk of an accident. 4. Maurti K10 is definitely a better handling car, however I feel the Kwid is more comfortable, it's easier to get in and out of, however, do test drive both! 5. The brakes are a bit weak, I did notice a little fade towards the end of the drive but in full disclosure, the car was really put through it's paces through the shoot. Like I said in the first drive, I wish it did have ABS Hope this answers your queries buddy.
Hey Abhishek, the AC performed adequately, there were instances where I noticed a little drop and the cooling wasn't amazing but, for what the car is, I'd say it did a good job. Plus, the chennai heat is pretty unforgiving ;)
hey, i really liked your review on Kwid 1.0. request you to please like to see a comparison video between Tiago vs kwid 1.0 vs celerio. i am really confused which car to choose (Sply between Kwid & celerio)
please make comparison to Alto K10 1000cc with this car - also Hyudai EON - thier comfort on top speeds . How they behave at the top speeds at high way long journeys - pot holes , their pick up and gear box comparison , fast turning stability , safe top speeds , those comparisons on maintainance charges and how good and how many are service stations available for those to navigate , Resale values on single handed usage . thanks in advance .
the AC was adequate however, the humid, Chennai heat wasn't helping. Compared to the Alto k-10 or Wagon-R, and this is a subjective answer really, I think it was about on-par.
A very good first drive report! and you are absolutely right, its a SHAME they aren't even offering ABS and passenger airbag as options; if a few customers are ready to pay more for them, then what is the problem in offering them as options, Renault??
My 1st choice was Kwid . But now I think Baleno should be better in terms of Looks , Safety , Features . If I invest 3 lacs for this Kwid , then why not to add more 3 lacs and go for Baleno . BTW Baleno looks much Aggresive and way premium than this Kwid . 😉
It definitely needed ABS. Also needed to know if we can drive uphill with the AC switched on. I have an Alto 800, is is advisable to shift to the Kwid 1.0
I respect you guys a lot but in the earlier part of the video... "Ample amounts of leg room and ample amounts of head room"? Really? Is he 7 feet tall or does it look to me like a tight fit?
With 2.5 lacs, I seriously doubt the build quality of small cars specially in India with the latest news that even cars like baleno and Hyundai range failed and scored 0 in the safety ratings. I don't know which car is the most solid and trustable. I have a Honda city and it too has its fare share of issues, mainly the rattling noise of interior plastics and not so comfortable seats for long journeys.
where do you find 0 rating for baleno. it is having NCAP rating of 3 (its same car available in India without side curtain airbag). BTW Entry level car customers have different requirements. most of them are those who want to switch from 2 wheels to 4 wheels and cost is the key spec. So yes build quality is not at par but still very decent.
Well almost all Indian small cars failed the test. Here is the link - www.topgear.com/india/car-gallery/a-closer-look-at-global-ncaps-indian-car-crash-tests/itemid-89?currentid=10868 Amazingly the same cars are exported out of India have better ratings. VW Polo also fails the test.
+phoenix If I go by your words then it means the life of a person who just switched from a 2 to 4 wheeler is far less important than a person already driving a 4 wheeler. I mean come on, all people have a the right to own a decently safe car and not buy cars within 4 5 lacs which have 0 NCAP ratings. I wish car channels review automobiles on the basis of their safety as well just like 5th Gear and Top Gear used to do.
That would be awesome, I know it's your usual testing road as I have been your subscriber since power drift was power to the rider. You guys do awesome work.. truly appreciate it.
Thanks for the immediate response. I'm planning to buy my first car in the end of this year. Let's see if Renault can surprise me. I'm always a fan of PD
Hey buddy, CVT stands for Continuously Variable Transmissions, it's basically the same transmission on an activa. AMT stands for Automated Manual Transmission which is essentially a manual gearbox with an automatic shifter. It uses this device that shifts gears for you, it's cheaper than running a typical automatic gearbox setup.
I thought the kwid will be a perfect replacement for my 1.2 March (based on pictures and that 7-inch headunit tho) but then again, my march had headrests, climate control, ABS EBD, and airbag. soooo, yeah the march will stay.
This is a great car no doubt. However, I wouldn't buy it. I agree with you guys that the car should have ABS, and, as per me, at least two airbags. I have a young child and for me safety is paramount. Understandable that this is a budget car and hence Renault has chosen not to add these features. Would have been nice if it was offered as an option at least. I wouldn't mind paying extra for the added safety. Excellent review, by the way. You know that part where the presenter stuck the car in 3rd gear and took it from 30 kph to 100 kph. That sort of thing is what sets you guys apart. Those little details.
Very good review. Thumbs up for the 30 to 100 on 3rd gear experiment. Well done Mr. Glen.
thank you! Will do more of those!
This is the kind of 'First Drive' video we expect from TeamPD - covering everything from the looks to the ride-quality. Great job, Glen!
Thank you, Varun. Wouldn't have been possible without the #PDArmy after all.
thank you buddy :)

how many seconds take to 100km/h
Yet to test the car extensively, this was just a first drive of sorts.
Changes expected for the 1.0 ltr are 1> a bigger R14 wheel with 4 bolts, 2> ABS-EBD, (Instd of touch screen infotainment) 3> door mounted power window switches, 4> Dual Airbag as standard. At-least an option they could have offered.

thank you buddy! :)
Hey guys, you should get rid of the tiny black spots in the video. Get your camera sensor cleaned, it's really easy. And as always, nice job!
Eagle eyes! Thank you :)
glen u r improving a lot.gud review :-) liked it
He sure appreciates this. What would you like to see next on our channel? ;)

Glen Suchitha Hmm.. A small question .. Why do car manufacturers offer only driver side airbags? Thanks :-)
Informed review by power drift. I test drove the Kwid 1L in Noida and observed certain anomalies. The rear view mirror is small with restricted view which does not match the other features provided. Well sorted review by powerdrift. They have become mote professional in reviewing vehicles

Renault kwid 1.0 is better or Alto k10 ? Which one I should go for for daily commute n for highway rides to...
Well, I had a tough time climbing the hill while going to Ooty in my Polo 1.2L Petrol with 4 people. This will definitely have some problem too.
Polo petrol (1020kg kerb weight) is 350kg heavier than a kwid. Thats already 4 XL size adults more.

Glen -- What is your take Tiago Vs K10 vs Celerio Vs Kwid ? Njaan kwid 1.0 order cheythu review kandittu :)

Hello +PowerDrift, the milage mentioned at 5:20 is with AC or without? If mixed, what percentage of AC roughly was used?
with A/C and it was on around 80% of the drive!
Thanks Glen Suchitha :)
I am thinking to buy this car, can you please let me know about the complaints like:
1.Water leakage inside to front foot rest area through windscreen (Heavy rain and washing)?

Very nice review 👍
How is the performance with AC on at full speed? Do you find any drop in performance?
That and a lot more shall be covered when we have the car for a full review.
Hey Abhishek, the AC performed adequately, there were instances where I noticed a little drop and the cooling wasn't amazing but, for what the car is, I'd say it did a good job. Plus, the chennai heat is pretty unforgiving ;)
1L varient was always on cards well before the 800cc Kwid hit the road. Glad they made it early. This makes Kwid a complete package now.
Rightly said! Remember to share the video ahead.
And breaking from 100-0 or 60-0 between same 4 cars please
Noted.
hey, i really liked your review on Kwid 1.0.
request you to please like to see a comparison video between Tiago vs kwid 1.0 vs celerio.
i am really confused which car to choose (Sply between Kwid & celerio)
If u need good service then celerio.. else everything else in favour of kwid
Tata now needs to show their service
I'll wait for December. Last great car which had a superb automatic was the Automatic Santro.
does it take pot holes in a better way
Sir, how many distance it can run at a stretch without any rest as many parts of its engine is made up of hard fibres so that it will be heated.
Is it really having problems with water seeping in while its rains?
please make comparison to Alto K10 1000cc with this car - also Hyudai EON - thier comfort on top speeds . Old kwid 1.0 or k10 ....2016 model 3L
Pl suggest????
K10
What about the air-conditioning system in the car and how does it compare with the one on Alto K-10 or the Wagon-R ?
All of this & a lot more in the comprehensive review!
the AC was adequate however, the humid, Chennai heat wasn't helping. Compared to the Alto k-10 or Wagon-R, and this is a subjective answer really, I think it was about on-par.
When would the extensive reveiw of KWID 1.0 be done?
We have a story, not the car yet! Hopefully soon.
It be better a story for a car than for a car itself.. hopefully soon.. Thanks
when will Renault kwid racer with AMT/CVT with two air bags and ABS and EBD.
A very good first drive report! and you are absolutely right, its a SHAME they aren't even offering ABS and passenger airbag as options; if a few customers are ready to pay more for them, then what is the problem in offering them as options, Renault??

I want answer from powerdrift. which is the better choice Tiago or Kwid plz reply
u can wait for PD's reply but in all case tiago is definitely a better option in terms of build quality n features offered.
which camera are you using bro ?
It definitely needed ABS. Also needed to know if we can drive uphill with the AC switched on. I have an Alto 800, is is advisable to shift to the Kwid 1.0
To answer all that, we shall love to have the KWID at our HQ for an extensive review :)
+PowerDrift Will await your review
What about safety?
when is the cvt variant coming.
+PowerDrift I have heard that there is a problem of water seeping into the car during rains or car wash. Can you confirm how authentic is the claim.
how's the gear shifting in 800cc and 1000cc?
is there any chage in the windows like power windows
I respect you guys a lot but in the earlier part of the video... "Ample amounts of leg room and ample amounts of head room"? Really? Is he 7 feet tall or does it look to me like a tight fit?
Whether this can compete with TATA Tiago ?
map and navigation feature are best
hey... when will u review a jazz or a verna??
New Kwid on the block 😎
Did you like it then?
It doesn't work for me because I wish it was a tad safer.

Volkswagen?
where do you find 0 rating for baleno. it is having NCAP rating of 3 (its same car available in India without side curtain airbag).
BTW Entry level car customers have different requirements. most of them are those who want to switch from 2 wheels to 4 wheels and cost is the key spec. So yes build quality is not at par but still very decent.

Nice review
Good review as usual. So when are you reviewing the VW Ameo and the all new Hyundai Elantra? Waiting...... ;)
Thanks, Parag. VW Ameo isn't on the list as of now, but Elantra is coming up your way real soon.
Will it climb lavasa...coz I have seen kwid 800 struggling in the hill climb section..
Hey Sahil, you know when we do a comprehensive review, we just might test it there. Stay tuned!
That would be awesome, I know it's your usual testing road as I have been your subscriber since power drift was power to the rider. You guys do awesome work.. truly appreciate it.
Nice review! Thanks.
holy Christ.... hello...
Thanks. The pleasure is all ours :)
is there a possibility of the kwid getting an rpm meter? that's the only thing that is holding me back.
Thanks for the immediate response. I'm planning to buy my first car in the end of this year. Let's see if Renault can surprise me.
I'm always a fan of PD
Kwid 1.0 vs Tiago1.2P
That sounds like a neat comparo idea!
+PowerDrift then make that review 😊
+PowerDrift include the celerio and alto k10 as well
hey really would like to see a comparison between Tiago vs kwid 1.0 vs celerio
.
it's a good car... but Im kind of worried about the overall after sale service all around India as compared to Maruti Suzuki products..
This is good for long drive around 600km?
That shouldn't be hard! :)
bole toh ek no. channel re bantai
Are wah! Thanks :D
what is the top speed of this machine
A very good reviewer...
any one please answer this renault kwid 1.0 how give milage on both city/and highway...??
and as a same milage on amt version
what differents between CVT OR AMT.
Hey buddy, CVT stands for Continuously Variable Transmissions, it's basically the same transmission on an activa. मुझे 2016 kwid 170000 में मिल रही है 40000 km चली है... लूं या नही
is it worth selling a 2008 model santro xing 1.1 and get the kwid 1 litre, driving will be 100 percent pune city traffic, bumper to bumper,
vineet gupta wait till 2018 kwid is introduced
Glen which is best k10/kwid/eon
While we haven't yet gotten our hands on the Eon, here's what we think of the K10 - th-cam.com/video/-eMqa4l6yzg/w-d-xo.html
why can't you make review on Renault Lodgy.
What genre of music is this? Please let us know.
can we drive continuous on 120kmph
We shall cover that in the comprehensive review. Stay tuned!
I thought the kwid will be a perfect replacement for my 1.2 March (based on pictures and that 7-inch headunit tho) but then again, my march had headrests, climate control, ABS EBD, and airbag. soooo, yeah the march will stay.
I give the like just for the start "Vanakkam"
is it good for college students??
It surely can be. :)
do a review on safest cars
Well, someday :D
Can the driver can see the bonnet while driving?
yes! Bonnet is visible while driving!
This is a great car no doubt. However, I wouldn't buy it. I agree with you guys that the car should have ABS, and, as per me, at least two airbags. Thank you for your comment Alistair. Yes, we really hope the car comes with more safety options in the future!
please set the front seat to your comfort and show the left room in the back seat
We shall. What are comprehensive reviews for :D
Hi Sai, I actually did that and the leg room was ample! :)
Lovely car with a lovely review...👍🏻👌🏻
This was just the First Impression ;)
Please compare the Kwid 1.0 with the Tata Tiago XM model as they are priced similarly.
Thanks in advance. :)
We hear you Sam. Shall definitely try to get that one done.
Kwid vs tiago comparison please
We have been getting a lot of requests from the PD Army regarding the same & so we'll try and cover this as soon as we get both the cars :)
Mr.Glen, are you a Tamilian?

Thank you, Syed. This was only the first drive :)
Comprehensive review will come soon too.
Yes, definitely. As soon as we get the car keys again.
is it better than tiago?
tiago is better car but kwid has a little bit better value for money
no way kwid is nothing against tiago
what about kuv 100?
hey Tiago can be considered semi premium car & Kwid is an entry level car.
check the price range & built quality.
reupload?
#Glitch :(
+PowerDrift haha
can i turbocharge it's engine?
well, in theory you could, but that's not what the engine is designed for ;) if you ever do that, do let me know! :D
