I always say I'm not going to watch the whole twenty minute video...Then I watch the whole twenty minute video. Great sights, and I love watching the control surfaces on the wing work when I'm on a flight. Great video, thank you for sharing. From New Hampshire, USA.
you and hearthrowspottingHD are the best people in my opinion for flight video's on youtube. perfect quality as always and thank you for the B747-8i video's.
I think I like videos from the interior of a plane more in the landing than the taking off - on the grounds that the closer one reaches the point of landing the faster we realise how rapidly we are still travelling.
Excellent video - just like the landing I had in a 777 from Houston except we were in a holding circle over London at 06.30 on Feb .3rd so all of London was lit up !
Haha good question :P I'm pretty sure the reverse thrust only goes up to a certain speed backwards! It would be impossible more the airplane to takeoff backwards in so many ways ;) Thanks for watching man!
Hey Dan, Thank you so much fro sharing this with us. You showed me sights I will never be able to see now due to my situation. This is the best approach video I have ever seen. Thank you again.
Excellent footage, regardless of the sun's glare. First time I watched a clip twice immediately afterwards. I was delighted to see the overview of Heathrow at the begining and the wing in focus and steady the whole way, well done my man... One thing; could any of you budding pilots out there please tell me why I could NOT see any movement of the surfaces when the plane made it's final turns, but could clearly see them as the plane made it's final approach???
WOW! At 0:28 you can see the tower and so on! I love it! Very very nice video, cool sound and so on... I watched this in FullHD, so I see every detail!!!
Nice! I didn't notice any fishtailing or brakes screaching or anybody screaming. I thought it was a great landing and approach. Thnak you for the video.
I like the video alot, and have filmed those landings also. Always waiting for the cockpit announcement. Always cool to hear these things. Nice video !
You can see the spoilers deploy at the nearest part of the wing... The are also air formations, since the whole cabin was shaking dramatically I assume it was at a very high speed :)
Thanks Dom! I'm not really sure! Boeings have more flap configurations but I guess you'd know the systems better than I do... I love both airplane manufactures equaly in this case :D
you were lucky enough to catch one of the very few days with nice weather in London otherwise you wouldn't have been able to see anything because of the clouds. Nice zoom you got there btw.
Considering you've said on the takeoff video that the flight was almost empty and that the takeoff role was short for a 777, I'd agree with you. It's a pretty speedy landing for an empty 777.
Lovely video, first time I see an approach where the plane pass Heathrow and then turns around...the sky over London is so crowded you see planes crcling everywhere..same in Tokyo Narita..quite scary sometimes..
Spoilers were not deployed on finals to slow the aircraft down. When they move up and down in this context it is to assist with roll control at low speed. So, when the desire is to roll to the left (or counter a cross wind from the left, as happens on this approach) the spoilers will raise on the starboard wing in sympathy with the ailerons. The spoilers on the port wing will have been flat to that wing. Hope this helps!
Love this. I came in to LHR the other day in the aisle seat. Both people at the windows had their blinds shut! There should be a law for those who don't know how to operate a window properly! Anyway thanks for posting - you may find some of my videos of interest. Cheers.
Honey! I Love You! Thank you for bringing me back to London for a visit! It is an 11 hour difference from California!! I LOVE ENGLAND! and I Love British Airways!!
Amazing video! I always loved and wanted to see what London Heathrow Airport is and now I did! I can expect to see this in a cockpit. (When I become pilot)
from 10:00 to 11:00 min, the wing was moving so aggressive. I think it was so windy during landing. Last year, I took a flight to Hong Kong, I was also keep looking at the wind, at the moment my mind was thinking the aero-engineer they are so amazing
@ebeckets. Reverse thrust absolutely can make a plane go backwards. It's not a standard procedure by any means, but it does happen on occasion. Usually used to back out of a gate area if conditions permit.
the plane is going through a thin layer of clouds I believe. you can see some wispy clouds below plane earlier in video. Or, it is going through very humid point in atmosphere, (very close temp and dew point) so by making the air move so fast over the wing, it actually compresses the water molecules so much that they temporarily come together enough to produce visible liquid around the wing
When reversing your engine blades do not spin the opposite way. The engine shell slips back on Boeings and a metal sheet slide down between the thrusters. The fan goes up to full power the the wind reflects off the metal sheet and goes through the slips that were opened. The wind in then pushing forwards to slow down the plane. Sometimes it is hard to hear in larger planes towards the rear
Hey Dan, British Airways use Terminal 3 for their Bangkok, Singapore and Sydney flights. The reason they did this is because of their codeshare with Qantas. Great video as always pal!
Great video , I think Heathrow is one of my favourite airports to plane spot , you get such a variety of airlines and aircraft types. A lot of American airports tend to be dominated by a single airline.
+Matthew Boyle Not true. You mention Heathrow, if you go to a major airport here in the US, you get the same mixture as Heathrow. In fact, you get more.
Both planes are very high-tech. While Airbus aimes at flap configurations (1-4), Boeing aims at degrees. Btw I really love the 777s main landing gear. It looks AMAZING. I liked! Cheers ;)
Heathrow is so freaking big every video has 15 mins intro and outro with the plane rolling so much runway and internal auxiliary ways, great video!
I'm very happy to hear you love them :D
Thanks man! The breaking starts when he fully puts the flaps down :)
The 777 inner flap is a frigging wall!!
A clean window and an excellent quality recorder made this enjoyable.
You always capture the very essence of a flight. It's as though I'm right there. Love them.
That's what i call class on landing. Master, smooth and lightly turns, touch down, braking, wao!
I always say I'm not going to watch the whole twenty minute video...Then I watch the whole twenty minute video. Great sights, and I love watching the control surfaces on the wing work when I'm on a flight. Great video, thank you for sharing. From New Hampshire, USA.
Wow thank you man! I'm so happy to hear you enjoy all my videos and the 747-8i was a treat to film ;)
you and hearthrowspottingHD are the best people in my opinion for flight video's on youtube. perfect quality as always and thank you for the B747-8i video's.

What a beautiful landing! The city of London is so beautiful! Notice how many green areas!
Once again, nice view of the flap deployment and retraction. Great job!
great video!! fantastic view...i used to live in london, now i'm in Brazil for good,..i love this city!!
Excellent video - just like the landing I had in a 777 from Houston except we were in a holding circle over London at 06.30 on Feb .3rd so all of London was lit up !
One of the best approach/landing vids I have seen. Great job zooming on h
Heathrow on the high down wind. Thanks!
WOW - nice steady hand and great sights. Even the audio isn't too bad. Thanks for posting.
Haha good question :P I'm pretty sure the reverse thrust only goes up to a certain speed backwards! It would be impossible more the airplane to takeoff backwards in so many ways ;) Thanks for watching man!
fantastic landing film
Thank you so much for that! I love sharing my videos with you guys and I hope you can continue to enjoy them in the future :)
Awesomeness.... I fly ALOT and I am still amazed at the complexity of the flight control the new planes have.
really well done as always. Thumbs up!
Definitely try the Emirates or Singapore Airlines A380's :D
Proud to be a Londoner
Awesome :D
Love the way the flap extend to 30 degrees at 8:15. Full flaps on a 777 look great.
amc3 t
amc3 I
amc3 45 degrees you dumb ass
Hey Dan, Thank you so much fro sharing this with us. You showed me sights I will never be able to see now due to my situation.
This is the best approach video I have ever seen. Thank you again.
Did I never mention anywhere that it was a bad landing? No! In the title it clearly says "overspeed approach"... Thank you.
Great shot of all of the terminals on the downwind approach in the beginning! Liked!
one of the best if not the best approaches in the world is london.. amazing vid! can't wait for pmdg to give us their T7
Thanks a lot Mathew! I have a review where the best plane I've been in will be a competitor - a380 vs. 748 :D
i had never seen such anexcelent view of heathrow.....nice
Fantastic United 777 landing sequence, awesome views of wing and Heathrow landscapes on approach
Excellent footage, regardless of the sun's glare. First time I watched a clip twice immediately afterwards. I was delighted to see the overview of Heathrow at the begining and the wing in focus and steady the whole way, well done my man...

That second spoiler surface from the right deployed on touchdown definitely needs a maintenance !
Great video thanks for sharing :)
Thanks a lot mate :D
WOW! At 0:28 you can see the tower and so on! I love it! Very very nice video, cool sound and so on... I watched this in FullHD, so I see every detail!!!
Great video. Wow, that is one loud aircraft! Thanks for the ride!
thanx 4 this video! it's the nicest one I've ever seen about a landing...
Nice! I didn't notice any fishtailing or brakes screaching or anybody screaming. I thought it was a great landing and approach. Thnak you for the video.
best landing i have seen very good and loved the video alot
I like the video alot, and have filmed those landings also. Always waiting for the cockpit announcement. Always cool to hear these things. Nice video !
You can see the spoilers deploy at the nearest part of the wing... The are also air formations, since the whole cabin was shaking dramatically I assume it was at a very high speed :)
I had such a smooth landing when landing at the heathrow you didn't even feel the plane touch the ground.
I enjoyed the video. Great flap action. It was just like being there. Thanks for posting.
Since UA is so large there are a tone of options so you should def look up the exact config of your aircraft on Seatguru or something...
My favourite aircraft, and my favourite airport at my favourite city,,,,,an amazing video
Thanks Dom! I'm not really sure! Boeings have more flap configurations but I guess you'd know the systems better than I do... I love both airplane manufactures equaly in this case :D

London looks nice.......from a distance!
Yeah when you get on the ground you find out it's a shit hole .
+Mark C ikr
lol ikr
A great view of London's suburbs there.
Can't say anything~the view are so cool ♥
Brillisant video
Its nice seeing the full approach.
Thank you for the vid
I enjoyed this video! Well done! Thanks!
Oh! That makes sense :) Thanks for telling me bro!
Glad you liked it man!
Lovely video, first time I see an approach where the plane pass Heathrow and then turns around...the sky over London is so crowded you see planes crcling everywhere..same in Tokyo Narita..quite scary sometimes..
A great and long final approuch!!!
This is one of the best videos I have seen. Keep up the great vid's brother.

Beautiful...i was surprised i couldn't hear the reverse thrusters.

looking at london like this, i could almost see where i lived! but you begin to realise exactly how big london actually is
Part of the control system. It moves due to control input like an aileron or rudder. It's like a cross between an aileron and a flap. 767 has it, too.
Awesome video! I had no idea that the flaperons behaved the way they did in the video. Thanks for sharing!
Great. Hope you feel better now.
Honey! I Love You! Thank you for bringing me back to London for a visit! It is an 11 hour difference from California!! I LOVE ENGLAND! and I Love British Airways!!
nice video, steady and great sound, enjoyable view.
Yet another excellent video, I especially like the Saudi airlines next to you :) but the video was extremely awesome as well
excellent, excellent, excellent HD video!
I can certainly relate to this video having flown in Heathrow several times :)
I'm realy enjoyed this flight, from newyork to London UK it was so amazing
wonderful ride, thank you
I will ;) Thanks dude!
Amazing video! I always loved and wanted to see what London Heathrow Airport is and now I did! I can expect to see this in a cockpit. (When I become pilot)
It was actually an overspeed approach :) If you skip to around 8:20 you will see it on the wing :)
from 10:00 to 11:00 min, the wing was moving so aggressive. I think it was so windy during landing. Last year, I took a flight to Hong Kong, I was also keep looking at the wind, at the moment my mind was thinking the aero-engineer they are so amazing
Great landing. No issues there!

Great landing! Pretty smooth though 👍
Me too! Most of the time they're very good :) Especially the old continental part of it ;)
Glad you liked it mate!
No problem! I really enjoy sharing my passion with you guys!! :D

22 mins of enjoyment.
Great landing! i'm not sure but, such a perfect landing that it seems like it doesn't even need to use the retro turbo. I didn't hear it.
Such a lovely plane!
That landing was smoother than whipped butter.
Splendid video and views, as usual. Tks.
Hey Dan, British Airways use Terminal 3 for their Bangkok, Singapore and Sydney flights. The reason they did this is because of their codeshare with Qantas. Great video as always pal!

Watching and hoping one day I can see this for myself!

Thanks Henrik!
Smashing landing film 1 of the best
Thanks bro!
I always sit on a seat behind the wing....I love to watch all mechanisms go..!
